So, trailer.
No precise release date yet, even though it's expected to come out sometime this year. I'm going to venture a guess of late November or early December, but honestly who knows. It's unusual that we still don't have a date, but whatever. Hopefully that's not a bad sign.
Honestly I think it looks pretty bad. Among other things, I think Daredevil and Jessica Jones were successful because of their incredibly well developed villains, and that villain's strong relationship to the protagonist. Now here we have a show nominally about a villain, and I'm skeptical that it's going to work the same way. It looks to have all the other hallmarks of these Marvel/Netflix series: gritty detective drama, cameos from recurring secondary characters, stylistic fight sequences. But Iron Fist and the latter half of Luke Cage are proof that that isn't quite enough.
I'm going to watch, though, as a few details have me curious. For starters I really dig Jon Bernthal, and I want to see what he can do as a lead. I'm also intrigued by the return of of Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page; it's been strongly implied that Karen has some serious dirt in her past, and I have a feeling that this is the series in which it comes to light.
So colour me optimistically cautious (which I consider to be a step below cautiously optimistic)?

Having Jon Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll is enough to keep me optimistic. I love how the characters and the actors work together, although I wonder how much will Karen Page show. Certain bits about her past could as well be Daredevil 3rd season material more than fitting here, but who knows. It will probably depend a lot on the nature of the antagonist in this series and how good the secondary characters will be. Will this be the first series without Rosario Dawson?

Yes, good catch, I believe it's the first one without Rosario Dawson. It will feature Rob Morgan as Turk Barrett, though; I think the only show he's missed is Jessica Jones.
I have a feeling that we'll get most of Karen's dirty laundry aired in Punisher, so that the audience will get to appreciate the tension between her and Matt in Daredevil. I gather she has a pretty big role in the show, so I don't see how they can really avoid it any longer. But really, who knows.

Another trailer, looks like the last one:
We also have a release date: It hits Netflix November 17th, which is in about 4 weeks.
I'm not sure what to make of this trailer. The Metallica is a bit cringey, and the short cuts they included were almost pure trope. In general, though, I'm not optimistic about what looks like an attempt to explain The Punisher's origins, and/or make him a fully sympathetic character. I like my Punisher to be more of a force of nature, something that just sort of "is", rather than a troubled man doing extreme, yet rational things that I would probably also do if I had been put in the same extremely difficult situation. Maybe that isn't what they're trying to portray here, but I don't know..
Will definitely check it out, of course. But expectations are pretty low.

So, here's a reminder that this came out today. If you're hesitant about seeing Justice League, maybe this is something to watch instead this weekend. ^__^
I'm a few episodes in. It's better than I expected so far. Seems smart, high quality, has a very noir feel (and I love noir, but your mileage may vary), more in line with Season 1 Daredevil than Luke Cage or Iron Fist. What's holding me back from loving it is that it's utterly miserable and extremely violent, and that Castle makes an uncomfortable protagonist. Daredevil And Jessica Jones worked for me because even though they were bleak in a lot of ways, they were ultimately still about people trying to do something good while weighing that against their own safety and interests. Castle is an almost completely broken person with thoughts and motivations so dark that I can't really put myself in his shoes.
Anyway, if you're into that sort of thing, check it out. If not, I wouldn't worry about giving it a pass. Aside from the involvement of Karen Page, it doesn't seem to be terribly connected to the other Marvel/Netflix shows. I'm not sure I have the stomach to finish it myself.

I'm about half-way through the series now, and I'm enjoying it more. I'm going through it slowly, though, because it's pretty tense and dreary; been chasing it with episodes of Letterkenny to lighten the mood.

I've finished the show. I actually liked it. I'd rate it below Jessica Jones and the first season of Daredevil, but higher than everything else in the Marvel/Netflix partnership.
It's well written, acted, cast, edited, and directed. It has a pretty consistent tone, a lot of tension, and generally enough to keep me interested. Does a lot for what feels like a pretty small budget (helps when your main character doesn't actually have flashy superpowers). You can't really ask for more than that. Bonus points for having a theme that I rarely felt like skipping.
I love to nitpick, though, and a few things did bother me. Mostly I found I didn't have the stomach for all the violence and bloodshed, of which there is more than enough - but hey, it's the Punisher, what do you expect? The show also had trouble properly stitching a very obvious b-story onto Castle's main thread (but it was well executed enough that I at least enjoyed it, perhaps more than the main story!) Lastly, I felt Dinah Madani was underdeveloped compared to other major characters, especially considering this show felt like it was adding filler material just to get to the full 13 episode season. They had the time to flesh out her character and background a little more, so I'm not sure why they didn't.
I recommend it to anyone who can handle the violence and gore.

I finally finished watching this and I liked it a lot despite the filler, that gets better as the season goes on. A great tone and amazing acting on most peoples part elevates this one, making me feel like it's one of my favorites with DD and JJ.

Season 2 trailer ahead of the January 18 release:
Keep in mind this is almost certainly the last season. I doubt if any of the creators or crew knew at the time, though.

Looking good, I hope it doesn't suffer the padding issue so usual on Marvel/Netflix series.

Watched the first episode of this second season and it's certainly a strong one with character. Sure, trouble drops on top of Frank's lap like he's some kind of bad karma magnet, but the pacing is nice and the tone feels appropriate. It also serves as a catch up / last season on The Punisher... for more general audiences.

I've watched a few now. It's a good show, but the Punisher we know from the comics still doesn't really fit into a 13-episode serialized season. I always enjoy it until the show reminds me it's trying to be the Punisher; then my mind spirals out, obsessing over everything that is different. Bernthal is just so damn charismatic though. Also, Jigsaw should not be significantly more attractive than me. I read somewhere that they were trying to be sensitive to combat vets with facial disfigurements (maybe?) but then don't do Jigsaw.

Finally watched the whole season and despite a couple of pacing issues around the middle when it feels like it loses focus a bit, it was quite good and one of my favorite Marvel/Netflix ones. I liked the Punisher+Amy dynamic (even if it reminded me of some Wolverine+Kitty/Jubilee/Hisako/Laura) so I missed it around the mid part, but otherwise it was a nice season.
