-Thanks to the Goblin serum, Chimera can come back to life from even seemingly very lethal wounds that would normally kill most people outright, however her body needs to be mostly intact to regenerate. For example, she could get 'killed' with a bullet to the brain or a spear through the heart, but she will get back from it after a while (an hour on average) as long as she wasn't disintegrated, burnt to a crisp or cut to pieces.
Wealth: 8
-Gains $100,000,000 per issue/month
-Currently has $30,000,000
-Last Updated: 2020-04-17 with last issue "Sub-par Six"
CHALLENGES
-Minor disability (-1; shortsighted. Requires glasses when dealing with anything at further than a yard away, or suffers this challenge as a penalty for sight-based actions.)
-Psychological (-1; mildly socially awkward. While she is definitely more assertive since she became one of the smartest minds in the Universe, Maria is still unsure of how to act and react in many social situations.)
-Psychological (-1; limited self-esteem. Maria's recent changes gave her a lot more confidence and assertiveness, but she is aware that said changes were mostly accidental and that she did not actually work for them that much, so she mostly feels lucky than worthy of her improvements.)
-Covetous (-2; moderate conspicuousness. Maria hopes to leave her mark on the world, leave it better than she first entered it, and win back respect for the Octavius family name.)
-C.T.S.U.F.U (-3; Maria is an actual would-be heroine, more than willing to go out of her way to help people in need.)
-Loyal (-2; to Oscorp, and its figurehead CEO, Liz Allen-Osborn, who actually recognizes Maria for the genius that she is.)
-Disliked and shunned by peers (-2; Maria is unfortunately the target of various unpleasant rumors among many of her fellow Oscorp researchers; some say she has no real talent and only rides on her father's 'fame' as a scientist, others claim she slept with one of the Osborns to get her job in the first place. Neither of which is true, and luckily her superiors know better.)
-Haunted past (-2; Maria used to see Otto Octavius as her 'hero', a role model she aspired to be like, until he went insane and turned to a life of crime, shattering her hopes and dreams for a long time.)
-Needs Goblin serum to maintain superhuman abilities (-3; if Maria fails to take her weekly dose of Goblin serum, she will begin to lose her superhuman abilities on a -1 per day basis, down to the number before the slash on her CAD.)
EQUIPMENT
-White buttoned blouse, Black shin-length skirt, 3-inches black pumps, labcoat
-Eyeglasses
-Octopus Harness Mk. II (A vastly upgraded version of the original Octopus Harness created by Maria Octopus based on her father's design, but improving nearly everything on it. Stronger, near-indestructible and equipped with six retractable, psionically-controlled, electrically-powered telescopic, prehensile tentacles, the tentacles are made in an adamantium/titanium-niobium steel alloy, each of them ending in 5 pincers for increased manual dexterity, attached to a harness covering her lower abdomen. Those overall greatly improved tentacles have the following characteristics:
- Tentacle Might (Each tentacle has a max Str of 12, two used together have Str 13, then each additional pair adds +1, to a maximum of Str 15 for all six tentacles. Also, attacks performed with her tentacles may be 2x damage, AP if she so wills it. If not, they can still be Limited AP nonetheless, due to striking at a max speed of about 185 feet per second. Naturally, Maria does not have to use the max strength, or hitting speed, of her tentacles if she does not wish to.)
- Fine Manipulation (Due to her formidable intellect, her mind's ability to process fantastic levels of information at once and her mastery over her invention, Chimera has no problem whatsoever using her otherwise ridiculously strong and destructive tentacles with the degree of control and restrain necessary for her to pet a kitten like a baby child would, write with good levels of calligraphy using a quill, or pick up a penny laying on the pavement without touching said pavement. She does not need to put stones in control to refrain from killing someone, or to perform very precise manipulations of her tentacles, instead simply spending stones to beat the resistance, and that's it.)
- Miniguns (+5, 2x damage, Limited AP, Area attack, Automatically causes collateral damage, Range 5, six of those. Each tentacle is equipped with a full-on minigun-like weapon system stored via nanomachines in the palm of the clawed hands. Needless to say, she would not make use of this weapon system often... but the fact that it exists can certainly help out during certain situations. All six of them can fire for 16 panels before needing to be reloaded.)
- Flamethrowers (+4, 2x damage, Area attack, Sets flammable objects on fire, Range 2, six of those. Alternately, her tentacles are also equipped with flamethrower technology in the same manner and location as the miniguns.)
- Leaping (+5, As the Modifier. Using the retracted tentacles to suddenly project her by fully extending against the ground, Chimera can leap formidable distance with ease.)
- Remote Telepathic Control (Maria has designed her tentacles, not unlike Octavius' own, to read her mental brainwaves from a distance, allowing her to either control them even when they are not connected to the harness, or when she is unconscious, in which case they act on their own with an AI of 10. The Range for said control is 5.)
- Suit Independence/Compatibility (Unlike most of the devices on her suit, she can wear the harness fully separately from her suit and use it independently, just like she can use it while using the suit, as it is designed to integrate it with ease within itself.)
- Breathing Apparatus (When in hostile environments, Maria can cover her nose and mouth with one of the tentacles, which can then function as a breathing mask, allowing her to survive immersion in water and temporary exposure to a vacuum, as well as protecting her from any gas and other environmental hazards involving breathing, provided she can use this trick before inhaling it - so a colorless, invisible gas may still very much catch her off-guard.)
- Telescopic/Retractable (Range 3, Retractable. Via use of scientifical techniques greatly exceeding known human levels of the modern era, Maria's tentacles can retract into the harness so well and effectively that when fully done so, she can effectively conceal it under a simple shirt or jacket. Additionally, the tentacles can now extend to up to 100 yards each and still retain their physical strength, making their reach a little over twelve times better than it used to be.)
- Total EMP Shielding (Can function without any trouble whatsoever even when hit head-on with an EMP shockwave.)
-Smartphone
-Oscorp High-Clearance Employee's Keycard
-Weekly dose of Goblin Serum (Usually always has one with her in her purse. Will get a new one as needed from Oscorp, and make more if necessary. If taken by someone not used to the formula, the Serum might prove dangerous, and even possibly lethal. A label on the vial warns about said misuse.)
CHIMERA SUIT
-Chimera Mk.II Helmet (The helmet of her new suit as Chimera, matching the main suir's color and materials, along with a lightly glowing pale blue visor providing the same advantages as Mysterio's helmet, along with a few advantages of her own. Acute Sight +5, Sonar Senses 10, Permanent Air supply, Jams Spider-Man's Spider Senses, Cybernetic Senses 7, Sense Power 10.)
-Chimera Mk.II Battlesuit (The main suit of her Superheroine identity, teal and emerald green in color, made of highly resilient, flexible ultralight material developed at Oscorp to provide both protection, mobility, and incorportate other advantages, described as follows:
- Armor (+7 defense, No AP, No 2x damage, +6 VS Sonic/Vibration; Allows escape from any grasp. The main purpose of the armor, namely protecting its wielder, combining the resilience of the Scorpion exoskeleton, the light weight of the Goblin's armor, and the flexibility and special protections of Shocker's outfit all in one.)
- Holographic Projectors/Hallucinogen Gas emitters (The suit is also equipped with all the devices Maria needs to make use of Mysterio's favorite tricks and illusions, which she intends to make use often in her new career.)
- Storage (The suit is equipped with multiple pockets/pouches allowing for easy storage of multiple small pieces of equipment/weapons, allowing her to easily carry her various crime-fighting devices and personal effects as though she was carrying a medium-sized backpack.)
- Chimera Mk.II Gauntlets (Aside from protecting her hands and forearms like the rest of her suit, Chimera's gauntlets are actually one of her most versatile armor parts, serving multiple purposes. High-Voltage Mode - +5 Weapons, 2x damage, Normal and/or Stun damage; Vibrating Mode - +3 Weapons; +8, 2x damage, AP or Area Attack, Range 5 as Vibration Blast; Smoke Clouds - +3 to escape or cover, Can be mixed with toxins, acids and hallucinogens; Acidic mist - Instantly dissolves Spider-Man's webs; Web-Shooters - +8, Immobilizes opponent if stones get through defense, Range 4. Allows Web-slinging action.)
- Chimera Mk.II Boots (Again protecting her lower legs and feet as the rest of her suit, her boots also serve two other purposes, namely as another origin of her smoke cloud gas, or as a mobility enhancer in the form of boot springs. Smoke clouds - +3 to escape or cover, Can be mixed with toxins, acids and hallucinogens; Boot Springs - +3 to Acrobatics)
- Scorpion Tail (One of the deadliest weapons equipped on the Chimera suit is the lethal tail of the Scorpion exoskeleton suit, made to fit and function essentially identically on the much lighter suit of Chimera. The stinger is a +6, Range 2 weapon which she controls essentially as another limb using her Tentacle Whip action but without the rest of the Octopus Harness's advantages, rather using those as follows: Plasma Blaster - +7, 2x damage, AP Range 5; Acid Squirter - +5, 2x damage, After effect, Ignores Hardness of objects, Automatically causes collateral damage, Range 3.)
-12x Smoke Bombs per issue (+2, Atk VS Intelligence, Area effect 3 around point of impact; No damage but if stones get through, victims take -3 to all actions involving Sight unless they can make up for it somehow. D: 4, R: 12 to overcome. Smoke lasts for 3 panels. Stored away in suit.)
-12x Gas Bomb per issue (+5, Attack VS Durability to paralyze for 1 panel/red stone of damage; Area effect of Wpn.modifier. Stored away in suit.)
-12x Flying Razors per issue (+2, 2x damage thrown weapons. Stored away in suit.)
-Adamantium/Titanium-niobium steel alloy Combat Sword (+5, 2x damage, AP sword, stored in a sheath in the suit's back.)
-Hallucinogen gases (8 stones Area attack VS Durability; if successful, targets suffers a -2 sitmod to actions for a number of hours equal to red stones of damage.)
-Masking Gas (Area effect 6, Nullifies Spider-Senses for 10 panels; 5 uses per issue)
-Goblin Glider Mk. II (A flying board/glider device designed for individual three-dimensional movement and superior mobility, equipped with various weapons. Difficulty: 4, Resistance: 3, Defense Modifier: +6, Vehicle Damage: 25, Maneuver Modifier +6, Speed: 7 (Flight), Weight: 1, Weapons: Blades/Spears +5, 2x damage (Various bladed weapons used for ramming/slashing opponents with fly-by attacks), Miniguns (+5, 2x damage, Limited AP, Area attack, Automatically causes collateral damage, Range 5), Micro-Missile Launcher (+8, 2x damage, Area effect 4 around point of impact or AP, Range 6, 8 missiles per issue/mission. NOTE: The glider can be controlled from a distance via remote control inside the suit.)
______________________________________________________________
STORY: Maria Octavius is the estranged daughter of Otto Octavius, nowadays infamously known as Doctor Octopus, one of New York's most well known supervillains and foes of the Wallcrawler. Her mother died giving her birth, but her father was initially supportive and kind, feeling somewhat responsible for not being there for her more. She grew up admiring his intellectual deeds from afar, admiring him for his inventions and his work on radiation and robotics.
When the accident robbed him of his sanity and turned him into the supervillain Doctor Octopus, he seemed to forget, and stop to care entirely, about his daughter, seeing her as 'a bother' and 'irrelevant' to his new obsession in life... making Spider-Man's life as miserable as humanly possible. Maria was horrified to see a man she saw as kind and smart turn into little more than a homicidal, insane maniac, and shatter what little she had left of her family so.
However, as it turned out, her own genius was already beginning to shine. Maria was a prodigal child all on her own, breezing through school and university in four years less than normal. She was like a sponge which retained all sorts of knowledge and informations thrown at her, and eagerly did everything she could to seek such knowledge, quickly surpassing her teachers in their own fields. General science, medicine, genetics... she especially focused on what had once been the passion of her now estranged father, namely robotics and radiation... but she was still eager for more.
Harry Osborn was the one who originally noticed her impressive skills and potential, and gave her a job as a scientist in Oscorp, where she quickly worked her way to the top. At 23, she was already more knowledgeable than scientists twice her age if not older, and made several breakthroughs. She worked personally with Osborn in an attempt to improve, and stabilize the Goblin formula in an attempt to make it safe, and more powerful. While she still had work to do on the latter, she had actually made the former quite the reality. Another of her accomplishments, and part of her work with Osborn, was thanks to her great skill in reverse-engineering the technology of various supervillains, specifically the foes of Spider-Man, initially in the hopes of finding flaws in them to defeat them.
Unfortunately for Mary, many of her coworkers proved jealous of her genius and her success, and rumors about her abounded, many claiming she wasn't all that smart and was merely 'riding' on her father's fame as a former scientist, or worse, claiming how she had slept with either Harry or his dad to actually get a job in the company, among others. Of course, none were true, and luckily, her superiors knew better, but the rather hostile environment along with the girl's own shyness took its toll, causing her self-esteem to take multiple blows, and her to often underestimate herself.
When Harry died, procclaiming his friendship to Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Mary lost in him a friend and one of the few people who truly knew of her value. At the same time, she realized the Wallcrawler had also lost one of the few allies he, himself, had. She decided that while she didn't want to continue either the legacy of her criminal father, nor that of Harry's, she wanted to use the Goblin formula and her own skills for good, and possibly support Spider-Man and his allies in his unending battle against evil. Using technology she reverse-engineered from Spidey's rogue gallery, her own skills, and tech available to Oscorp's higher-ups, all under the blessing of Harry's widow and figurehead CEO, Liz Allen-Osborn, she went and created the first version of what would become her trademark battlesuit armor, equipped with multiple gadgets, weapons and technology from Spidey's most tenacious foes... CHIMERA, Mk.I, named after being an amalgam of multiple devices and technologies, and also something from the imagination, reflecting the hallucinations and illusions she could create from the tech she got from studying the villain known as Mysterio. Other additions included, among others, the Scorpion's tail, Shocker's gauntlet tech, and of course... her father's tentacles, all integrated, and altered, to make her armor stronger and more versatile.
Her goals: to become a better and better scientist everyday... to fight crime and support Spider-Man and the rest of New York's heroes, best and brightest... to work hard and earn recognition for her work, and win back respect and honor for the Octavius family name, in memory of the man her dad used to be. Be it as Maria, or as Chimera... she would stand as her own heroine and make the world a better place.
