Oh, as a additional thing, I could create a stickied thread here to allow new players to introduce themselves, announce they are looking for games to be involved in, say what sort of games they are interested in. That sort of thing. What does everyone think? If people think it's a good idea it would be great to get feed back about what sort of things other players/GM's think would be interesting/useful information to know. Between introductions in the GENERAL MURPG Discussion thread, and the WISHLIST sub-THREAD here, that may be a little redundant... unless you’re looking to curtail use of these. |

Not looking to curtail anything, that would imply way too much planning and forethought for it to be my thing. Just looking for feed back on if something would be useful. I don't often look in the general discussion thread so don't know if people post new player intros there. Do they? The wish list thread I had always assumed was people spitballing ideas for games they'd like to see. Do I have he wrong impression? |

I think we used to have a game that was meant to serve this purpose, but at any rate, I think its a good idea, generally speaking. One way we could do it would be to have a sort of "Academy" where players could join and keep their characters there for as long as they wanted, but players who just wanted to learn the rules and get out could do so. Sort of a revolving door cast thing.
I guess my only real reservation would be; do we really still have frequent enough new traffic to even make something like that worthwhile?
Is Andyman still doing the Daily Bugle? He ran that game pretty much RAW as far as I know and, while people couldn't create their own characters, it served as a pretty good introductory type of game, IMO

We definitely had a one-shots board. It fell to disuse and got pruned around the same time the “rules” for min players for game board creation started being ignored. <shrug>
I thought Daily Bugle was using the older set of Marvel rules... but it’s been a long time since I poked around in there.
From my observation “New Player” traffic is indeed low, but there ARE definitely introduction posts in the General Thread (which was deemed an ideal location back when these bords first stood up as it was the very first thread most people click on when discovering this place). It even used to be a stickied thread before one of the old prunes, and was replaced by the Player Locator thread (which contains a LOT of the same info also...).
Okay. I’m done being cantankerous and showing my age on these boards... I keep this up and someone will delete THIS user account “accidentally” on me too :-p
