The doors to the areas shut and Sindor breathed out a shaky breath and then started to laugh.
The battle had been their last test and they had if not passed then at least survived. That had after all been the aim. A battle droid, armed with quad linked blaster rifles, each with a vibro-bayonet, shock insulated and made of Mandalorian iron. They had worked as a pair to survive it for the past three days but had never beaten it. Then Vader had told them that the only way they would leave the arena alive was if the droid was destroyed.
So they cheated, snuck into the armoury and stole ion grenades. Apprentices one, droid nil, Vader had said nothing in that way he always did when he was avoiding saying he was pleased, and maybe that was the lesson, victory is victory, everything is permitted.
Sindor looked at Naijix and grinned
"You know, I think I could use a drink. What say we break out that Corellian Spiced Ale?"

Fighting for 3 days in a row in order to pass lord Vader's test, it was rough, but he wasn't alone. Despite it being in his nature, Naijix wouldn't mind working as a team with his new comrade. They did make a great pair, even if he had still a lot to learn, these times were amusing and Naijix liked it. The battle had been hard and that was what made it so enjoyable yet quite exausting.
He gave a side glance at Sindor, when he started to laugh. The togruta simply sighed, then shook his head as he was also taking back his breath.
-Sure, if you can handle it! -
He said with an amused smile. They did deserve a little rest and maybe a small reward, but for him, the fact that Vader was please with his work was all the rewards he needed.

"Are you kidding? I used to dream about this stuff back in the day."
He set off at a trot back to their quarters, they were sparse, spartan even but there was always places to hide things and when Naijix had gotten back from one of his 'missions' with two bottles Sindor had already worked out where they wouldn't be found.
"So who was our generous benefactor this time?"
It was half said as a joke but there was no illusions between them about what Naijix did on those days when he wasn't helping train Sindor in the ways of the force. Enemies of the Empire, threats to the stability of the Galaxy, traitors and worse. But, as Sindor used to joke, just cause you are a bad-guy, doesn't mean you can't contribute. In this case two bottles of Corellian Spiced Ale.
It was a celebration of coming of age, Sindor was no longer completely useless with a light sabre and that meant tomorrow they would be heading out. The Star Destroyer 'Reaper' awaited and with it more to learn.

Naijix grinned at the mention of the ''old days''. His old days were further behind then he thought. How long had it been since Vader had taken him in? More then a few years already. He knew better then to disapoint and so had always make it a priority to win. Aiming for victory at all cost. Following Sindor back to their quarters, he answered him.
-No one that will bother anymore...-
As Sindor was taking the ale out of a secret storage, he looked at his partner for a moment. The first time he watched him fight, this guy was useless and got his ass kicked so hard it was almost pitiful, but many things change and it reminded him of an old rival. Not wanting things to repeat themselves, he did what he should have done back there. Tough he still had regret, his hatred was still greater then his guilt. Naijix wasn't the kind to drink much, and never looked at a partyer, but this did call for a little celebration.
-So, think you are ready for the real world?-
He asked with a grin, holding out two glass cup for the ale to be poured in.

Sindor nodded and poured, Naijix first then himself. This was a ritual from his time back on the 'Venture', after every job there would be a toast. Sindor never got to have that last toast.
"I'd better be, places to go, people to kill."
He would avenge his old crew mates. Maybe they had stolen from the wrong people but that didn't necessitate a death sentence, and no one deserved a death sentence like that. The Witch had know he was force sensitive, but hadn't been bothered. She had let him live as a message to anyone else who might try and cross the Dark Sun. The message was received loud and clear, but not the message they thought.
He raised his glass.
"To new beginnings."

Naijix raised his glass as well, clinking his glass against Sindor's own.
-And better endings...-
He said as he took a sip of the ale. The alcohol itself was of pretty good quality and Naijix didn't regret taking those. He had done worst then that in his younger days. Stealing to make a living and it had become an habit. Tough the need to steal wasn't necessary anymore in order to survive, some things just don't change. He looked at the liquid color for a moment, smiling slightly, then back at Sindor.
-So...anywhere you'd like to go out in this great wide galaxy? -
He ask, glancing at him.

"Going out, yeah, I've never really been a big going out kind of guy. Breaking into on the other hand, well there I've got a list. Top of my list has to be the old Jedi Holocron vault in the Imperial Palace on Coruscant. I hear tell that there is a special section for forbidden knowledge. Just gimme a day."
He took a sip, it was as good as he remembered, truthfully he never drank much but it was good to remember.
"How about you, anywhere you wanna go?"

Naijix smiled faintly at the mention. He had his share of jedi history to tell but he would be keeping that for another time. Right now, he simply enjoyed the ale while listening.
-These people are so effraid of that knowledge that instead of trying to understand it, they just keep it hidden...if you want my opinion, they are just a bunch a scaredy dungs for all they'r worth...-
He said spiteful. When ask if there was anywhere he'd like to go, he smiled.
-I'd like to visit the old sith's temple... -
He said. There was more then one, but most were empty now or relics of the past. At any rate, it was still worth having a look around if he ever had the chance to.

"Yea, pretty sure looking into those was what got me marked as a dark sider." He said with a shrug. "And yea, I think if there were a little more facing the truth head on and a little less sticking head in sand the Galaxy would be a much better place."
"There's a few Sith temples around of course. Problem as I hear it is they tend to be haunted by the spirits of dead Sith Lords, and their favourite party trick is taking over the minds of people like us."
"Besides, with the Jedi on the run now there are no Jedi defending their temples. Way easier pickings than Sith temples that have been holding off hordes of Jedi knights for centuries."
"Personally I want to visit Tython. It's been fought over for millennia, been in the control of both Jedi and Sith. Now that's a place that's got to have something worth looking at."
"And actually..." He said with a thoughtful expression. "Maybe the forces there could use some trustworthy people with force experience. You know, what with Lord Vader being so busy and everything."

When Sindor mention the haunted part of the sith temple, Naijix just started laughing. Frankly, his laugh had nothing very friendly or reassuring about it.
-But my dear Sindor! That's EXACTLY why I want to go there! Can you imagine? Meeting old sith and dark force users! What we could learn from them! The more dangerous, the better! -
He said, not hiding his attraction to the thrill of a fight. He took another sip, thinking for a moment.
-I suppose you mean us teaching new found force user?-
He grinned, amused.
-That...could be interesting!-
He agreed with a small nod.
-Show them the right path ha ha!-
The young togruta put the glass on the side, this time, lost in thoughts. His eyes, a bright yellow, looked into the distance.

Speaking of the devil. ;-) The "freshes" hedgling of the group came strolling along. Clearly tired, and rubbing her elbows from no doubt several fresh blaster "stun/non lethal" hits. "Non Lethal my Ass, can't parry a turbo laser turret's anyway.. so why $%&.." Knocking into some unfortunate trooper on her way she went on another cursing spree. "Watch where you're going douch!" She said to the poor sap. But there were people who liked such treatment. "I wanne go home! I wanne be back on MY ship, 'ts not even fully modified yet. Ma crew gonne be lonely!"
Not that they were THAT far away, but Zara was particularly sobby today.
Anyone not scared off by her attitude.. her horns, her eyes, .. her "evil aura" or for plenty of other good reasons might actually feel tempted to comfort her. But if that would be a good idea ? .... Who knows...

The disturbance came from down the corridor. Zara was making her presence know and Sindor sighed
"Do you suppose she stops complaining when she's asleep?" He asked and topped up his glass.
Zara undoubtedly had potential but her irreverent attitude always seemed to annoy him.

As Zara came along, Sindor's comment made him laugh.
-What? Is that your excuse so sneak at night in her room?-
He asked, half joking, half serious. Of course, Naijix didn't particularly trusted Zara either. She was new and he wondered why Lord Vader had taken her in, but at any rate, he wasn't there to question his master's decisions on his apprentices. When Zara was close enough, he turned his head toward her. If they were to talk about horns and eyes, he got her beat on it, but that wasn't the point. Any alien species in the Empire was treated like that.
-Is the training too hard for you?-
He asked her, tilting his head slightly to the side.

"What ? Whaaaat ? Of course not ! .. Well, I'm just bad at all this "feeling" and such, I'd much rather.. I don't know.. would be good at it ? Yeah, sounds ridiculous when you say it out loud. 've been always "good" in stuff, except control that is, it's just so... draining you know what I mean ? So much easier to just let go.
But enough 'bout me, what are YOU doing here ? Not as in "what brought you here", just what you're up to ?" Turning from slightly irritated to slightly curious. And most certainly a spirit of mischief was always in the air when she was involved.

"Celebrating being alive at the moment."
He offered the half empty bottle of Ale over to Zara.
"Lord Vader has finished trying to kill us for the day, so now seemed like a good time."
