It does look like a fan trailer. In the bad sense.

Seeing Dick Grayson as a snotty little twit who growls "$#@! Batman!" turned me off immediately.

That’s a Jason Todd thing -.- I would have been perfectly fine with them putting Jason Todd in the series, I might have even watched it in spite of my dislike for the character. The deal breaker for me is seeing Dick Grayson thrown back 4 decades in character development

They needed a reason for him to be 'edgy,' so they make him a punk who rebels against parental figures.
Not sure who their target is with this one.. Definitely not children. Teenagers? Then why make it MA? Adults who like the source? Then why make it look bad? I just don't know.

Yeesh. I love Raven, and I think she's one of the worst parts of the trailer.
But then again, there's a lot of the worst parts of the trailer.

Not sure if this is its own thing or not within the DC shows but Damian would have been great for "Edgy Teen rebels against father figure" Otherwise they could of gone with the "Cold and Distant trying to hard to live up to The Batman route"
I can't currently watch it unfortunately so I have no idea what I'm commenting on but I imagine its like looking at a time-lapse of a port a potty?

Giving them the benefit of the doubt; I'm assuming that they intend to give Dick an arc, where he goes from bitter to accepting of his relationship with Batman, like he did in the (post crisis version of) the comics. There's nothing inherently wrong with that I guess, except that for me personally, its not a version of Dick I'm interested in retreading. In spite of being a big fan of Dick Grayson (as in he's actually my favorite DC comics character of all time), I would have much preferred Damian or even Jason, if this is the way they want to go with the character. Unfortunately, Nightwing is the name they wanted, and it would have been even worse for them if they'd handed that name to someone other than Dick Grayson. Its kind of a creative Catch 22.

If they wanted to retread that stage, that’s all well in good... but what appears to be visibly KILLING someone? Tsk. I don’t recall him ever going THAT far off the reservation.

Also, I love that Teen Titans Go basically already parodied this:
