Fortunately, Gunn has been rehired. I think it's the right move.

Fortunately, Gunn has been rehired. I think it's the right move. and I'm sure the fact that he went straight to writing a script for their closest competitor had nothing to do with it. I mean what were the odds he would end up writing and directing a smash hit that finally helps push the DCU movie franchise up to and heaven forbid ahead of Marvel, making Disney look like complete chowder-heads for ever firing such a genius. (He said with heavy sarcasm.)

I think people are reading too much into the DC signing. Marvel is not afraid of a Suicide Squad sequel no matter who is writing it. What they're afraid of is Guardians of the Galaxy 3 bombing.
I don't know if this is more or less cynical, but I always assumed their policy was to respond to the immediate backlash against Gunn, and hope it died down in time to get him back for Guardians 3. The backlash did die down, and here we are.

Yes, good point about the support from the cast especially. Actors can be incredibly loyal that way.
I thought he first Suicide Squad had potential. A lot of the pieces were there, it was just the production that was complete trash. Gunn seems like a perfect fit. I'm keeping an eye on Birds of Prey, too.

Independent of my feelings about his "jokes" in Twitter, I'd be real glad he was gone anyway, if not for the fact that they'll probably replace him with the even worse Watiti. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't like Watiti. Was so turned off by his Thor. Nothing like turning EVERYTHING (including the destruction of Asgard) into a joke.
