I think one thing the DCEU has going for it over Marvel is a better understanding of what works in the foreign market, specifically Asia, specifically China. Chinese cinema has always been less picky about perfecting special effects, and I have a feeling a lot of moviegoers there actually LIKE the spectacle of obvious CG. If you can save money on your FX budget and still make big bank overseas, I mean, that's not a bad strategy, especially when competing directly with Marvel at what they do best is basically out of the question at this point. So while it's not exactly deliberately bad, I suspect they know exactly what they're doing.

Indeed! Likewise, I think it's part of why a lot of Chinese-made movies like The Great Wall and Asura fail to land in the West. Asura in particular actually had decent effects, but the reputation of Chinese cinema still dragged it down. An outlier is a movie like Crouching Tiger, which almost exclusively used practical effects and relied more heavily on top-notch choreography. It reminds me of how some of my favourite fight scenes in the MCU are in Winter Soldier and involve basically no CG.
