To me, DC has nowhere to go but up, so I hope they can get their stuff together. Me too! I'm not a Marvel or a DC fanboy, I just like good movies. ^__^

EDIT: Also the 'Product placement' switch scene makes sense in the movie, don't worry Funny. It doesn't really matter (besides the odd effect that causes in that trailer) but it's nice to know they didn't goof up.
I don't know if I'll go watch it, as the opening weekend in Spain is the same one I'll be at the annual comic book convention in Barcelona, so once the novelty has passed it's likely I'll end up waiting for some kind of on demand / blu ray release.
But that aside, it's good to know that DC is ready to try different things once the MURDERVERSE approach has failed. I liked Aquaman, I watched it a second time last week and (despite its obvious faults) I'm liking it even more than the first time and it's firmly settled as my fave DC movie of the last batch. I don't see Shazam getting that spot, but finding myself more and more open to watch it is already an accomplishment. It's early yet to see how Birds of Prey and the Too Long Title will go without a trailer, the Joker thing seems iffy, and I don't think even Morrison's help can help Ezra Miller salvage Flash, but maybe there is still hope.

Aquabro is on Blu Ray starting today, so I'll probably be seeing it soon (we have one video rental place left and I will support it until I die).
I don't think anyone really wants to see The Flash, sadly. I think their best hope is if they can leak or release some kind of proof of concept that gets a positive reaction from fans. They really need a gimmick: some kind of visual style or special effect for the flash to rope people in. I mean just look what the Deadpool test footage did for that movie! Otherwise he's a red guy who runs fast, and no one cares. And with WW84 distancing itself from Justice League and the DCEU as a whole, it's not a good sign for Justice League products.

I also got in on the early screenings last week while traveling. Went on a complete whim.
It was... a nice change of pace for DC, but definitely still in line with all of the others. I feel like SHAZAM tried hard to appeal to those who like the current line of DC movies AND those who yearn for something a bit more light-hearted.. honestly, I think they’d have been better served picking one. I went with a friend that knew zero about the character going in, and ended up having to explain a few things the movie glossed over too quickly for newbs to have grasped.
All in all, the movie care-bear within me was entertained. It wasn’t a waste of money, and nothing really irked me (ie Cavil, or Aquaman’s CGI)
I saw the “twist” ending coming a mile away— a good homage to the old school comics on one hand (from what little I know), but on the other I was really hoping for something a bit different. I liked it marginally more than Aquaman and the Superman flicks (not that that really says much)...
Ah well, i’m no shazam fan boy... I keep seeing the DC movies mostly because I’m too stubborn not to.

So with my seeing Shazam last week at a cheapy-theater, I have seen this movie a total of 4 times in the theater. I suppose it's safe to say I liked it. Will probably buy it when it comes out. ..Pre-owned from Dimple Records or Ebay, mind you..

How could he have known then what a mistake humanity would turn out to be? Looking forward to seeing Shazam soon tho lol

So I FINALLY got around to seeing Shazam. It was pretty okay!
I liked the emphasis on fun above all else, and the performances from the main cast were amusing. The whole thing was a little too corny for me, and felt more like it belonged in the 80s or 90s. A good deal of that probably had to do with the score, which might as well have been cribbed directly from Home Alone.
Between this, WW, and Aquaman, I think there's too much value in the DCEU to warrant a hard reboot. I maintain that my preferred way forward would be to assume the Justice League has been established and focus more on the gradual addition of new heroes. Winter Soldier/Ragnarok-style crossovers rather than than big Avengers-style team-ups. Billy makes for pretty decent comic relief, so that should free up a slightly more serious Flash when that role is recast.

Finally got around to watch Shazam! and... I guess it's a movie? It manages to not mess up anything of significance, but it also avoids going out of its way to do anything of note. It surprised me how much I liked the kids, something I didn't expect. And it pleased me that after foreshadowing with the dinner scenes during the movie they did indeed go for the whole pack powering them all, that was daring on its own and it was the kind of thing I expected teased for an end credits scene, not the movie finale. But yeah, other than that it really feels as said as a movie from another era with more or less current CGI. If Aquaman felt like 2000s' superhero fare, this one (perhaps the whole Christmas angle adds to that) it resonates as TWF said as a late 80s' early 90s' thing. In general these movies are steps in the right direction, but I can't help but feel how "late" they are coming and how many "meh" films we have to endure before they nail a good one.
