So question, boss. Since my character is knowledgeable of nerd culture, and things of those sorts, he will have to make some references based on what he knows.
Since we're in the Marvel universe with DC and Heroes in there, I couldn't make any references to the well known characters in those universes, so I understand those are out of the question. My question is: would I still be able to use OTHER source material as references? Example: I get fire powers, so I couldn't reference the Human Torch, but perhaps Natsu I could look to as a reference?
Just want to know where my boundaries are.

Absolutely. Anything other than Marvel, DC and Heroes is still part of the geek culture of this world.
Also, you could actually make references to the Human Torch if you got fire powers, because the Fantastic Four are some of the few heroes who are actually already active when the game starts.

RidiculousNinja, Ushima911, kira and lilithsboy, prologues will be starting as soon as your character CADs are posted in the CAD thread, and I have rolled and statted up your powers - which I will do right away this morning. As for GPMC, I will review your CAD before I roll up any more powers to give you a chance to catch up as soon as possible. A little question for everyone, though... now, I did not want to keep any options from the players of this game, but at the same time, depending on what you guys want, I need to know in order to steer things up in the right direction. Would you like to eventually be all part of a team, of an organization? Would you like to end up working together? Or would you prefer to all be on your own and living your own stuff and if you happen to meet up, then so be it? ...I'll be honest, the former would be easier for me (one update to type instead of 5, lol) but I want your input on this, not mine.

Ending up as a team sounds cool.
Especially if it happens "naturally", sticking together against common threats .. for mutual benefit..

That's the idea, yes. You'd all start as separate individuals, which I would try to steer in the same direction. Be it the young S.H.I.E.L.D organization, the X-Men, the future new Avengers, the future new Justice League, your own little team, or whatnot.
