The fact that you people have so much love for Logan right off the bat tells me that we don't agree on films at all 8) I didn't like Logan either... Granted I never saw it, but I read a plot synopsis and I hated how it made theentire rebooted timeline pointless. For what its worth, I didn't dislike Logan. In a lot of ways it is a well done film. I just think its highly overrated in the context of an era of more or less "good" comic book films. If the MCU weren't a thing, I probably would give Logan a lot more leeway, but basically, its another example of someone thinking a certain set of things are "artistic" and leaning on them entirely too heavily rather than bothering with a legitimately great script, with establishing a reason for us to care about certain things that happen, and with any strong connection to the universe to which the story is supposed to belong.

After seeing Dark Phoenix, I have some thoughts on it.. (some spoilers so read at your own risk) I think the movie was good for what it was but there are some things that could've been done better in the movie like not having the aliens at all because honestly they were filler in this story. I remember a year ago they had said that it would be the shi'ar who were gonna be showing up but that wasn't the case, which I think would of been better. But for Jean in the movie versions of Dark Phoenix, she feels so underwhelming, no matter if it was Wolverine and the X-men (X3) or even this one, she felt very dark light, like she could of been made to be more "evil".
They always seem to pussyfoot with how dark she could be; being she's killed billions in the comics after eating their sun. I would've liked to see a more of a sadistic nature within Jean when she lost control. Like killing innocents cause she felt like it, cause it was a rush to hear them scream, even killing off some students from the mansion and give her more of an Anakin feel when he descended to the dark side in the Star Wars movies. Just something that would make her seem like a danger vs car flips and destruction of city property and forcing a cripple to walk up the stairs, that made me cringe a little.
Another things is the aliens. As I said before, they were filler at best, yeah they explained to Jean what the Phoenix Force was but they could of achieved the same effect by having her have mental meetings with the Phoenix in her mind. They utilized the astral plain in Apocalypse, so I was hoping they would've done the same in this movie. Then in a final show down against the X-Men, they could of had two fights on screen, one with Dark Phoenix vs X-Men and the other Jean vs her dark self, ultimately Jean winning in the end and regaining control of herself before she killed her friends and then with that sending herself away. But because this arc is such a big arc in the comic universe, much like Infinity War, if they wanted to do something like they it should of been made in two parts or have been built up in the previous movies. Like they could of dove deeper into Jean's past and showed the part of her life when her friend Annie was hit by a car and died in front of Jean, but unwilling to let her friend go, forced her friend's soul to stay with her powers, which is why the Phoenix was drawn to her in the first place because of how much sheer psionic power this little girl had. Because to the average movie goer, they're just like "oh Jean has fire bird powers, cool" where there is so much more. If they were willing to give Wolverine so much exposition, better give the same treatment to someone whose story ya'll keep butchering.
I will say on the positive sides, the visuals were everything unlike in X3 though they get merits for the scenes with Jean and Xaiver, those were stunning. Mama had been waiting 20 years to see those Phoenix visuals. And seeing Dazzler was everything (don't judge me). As a whole, this movie did its job as what you would expect but there was soooooo much more that it could've been and done which is sad but you never know, maybe they will re do it down the road, but if I remember correctly, phase 4 of marvel doesn't include the x-men at all so, yeah.
