Layla
"Hey", Layla said, walking up to him. "...Travis is fine. His experiment was a success... he gained all the Devil Fruit powers of Big Mom's family, at once, apparently without the water and seastone weaknesses. Though... I guess we have yet to test the weaknesses to be sure. He's asleep in his room now", she explained.

"I see." James said wiping away some sweat. "That's good. I've been dying to get away from this place for a bit. No offense but the look of so many people here freaks me out. I prefer my fellow humans to look... well... human.

Layla
"It's okay. Now that we know that Wano Country is safe in Shanks' hands and that neither the Government nor Blackbeard can get their hands on it, I see no harm in us leaving for a while. We should go pick up the hovertank before we go though. I did manage to convince Travis not to be angry at you for using it, by the way", she said, smiling.

James nodded. "Thanks."

Layla
"No problem. I owe you one, actually. I really appreciated your support back there", she said, smiling. "Where do you wish to go after this?"

"I'm not sure." He admitted. "I guess I just want to go home for now."

Layla
"Home?" Layla asked, now curious. Ever since coming back to life, she had not really known nor asked about where her son was currently living when he wasn't saving her daughters with his airship.
"...Where is that?" she added with a smile, pondering about how she didn't really have a home herself at that point.

James froze. "This ship is our home. We got nothing else."

Layla
"You... don't?" she asked. "...But then... when you said you wished to go home, what you meant was...?"

"Earthland." He said.

Layla
"I see", she said, nodding. "...You know... just a thought, but... perhaps we could build ourselves a new home. There's still a bit of tension here and there, but... we're reunited. You, him, the girls... myself... Lucy... Henrietta. This is beginning to look like a family", she pointed out.
"Perhaps we could make a home of our own with this much as a new start."

James scoffed. "Yeah I'm not up for living with my brother in a house with his Mommy... No offense."

Layla shrugged. "...I wonder if he still truly sees me as such, anymore", she pondered. "...I've been... gone for quite a while. And now that's he brought me back with all of his friends' help, he's all grown up, a man in and of himself, who's had more than his share of adventures... and his real mother is back with us... and we're not that far in terms of age. I wonder if he doesn't see me as... I dunno, a big sister or something, at this point."
(OOC: How old is Travis in this story?)

(26)
James scoffed again. "Yeah, I doubt he would have gone as far as he did to get you back if he only saw you that way." James said heading back inside taking a towel from a Chansey and wiping his sweat up.

Layla
"Oh, yeah, because he clearly wouldn't go far for a 'mere' sister", Layla pointed out, smirking. "But hey. Your opinion is your opinion", she said, walking off, and heading back to her own room.
It was a bit of a shame, but she found it very difficult to actually connect with the boy. It was like he was actively trying not to get along with anyone as hard as he could, possibly with the exception of Travis himself. At this point, maybe it was best that she stopped trying. She felt like the last thing James Howlet was looking for was friends, and if she was wrong, for some reason he seemed adamant about keeping her off that list. Maybe he hated her for having been the focus of his brother's obsession for so long. Maybe he hated her for the pain her death had caused him. Maybe it was something else entirely. Whatever it was, it was probably for the best to leave him alone and let Travis, and Henrietta, handle the heartfelt talks.
Shrugging, she got to her room, laying down in her bed after taking off her equipment.
