Flypaper looks at Spider-Man skeptically. "Don't you remember? I'm Flypaper and you're an arachnid.* We're very close because insects and spiders are both invertebrates that belong to the phylum Arthropoda." * This is a quote from the heroes' first meeting in costume from Flypaper #1: What Tangled Webs We Weave. Zzzrx hopes that Spider-Man remembers his Hivarian homey, but there are more pressing matters. Flypaper asks for the Man-Spider to web up the fallen Madam Mayfly, so he can concentrate on making sure the heroes have full control of the Hivarian fleet. Action 1: 2 Social Skills (Insects) to jog Spider-Man's memory with trivia about their shared phylum and ask him to web up Madam Mayfly. Action 2: 5 stones Vehicle Operation (Large Spacecraft) Flight to take control of the mother ship and the entire armada, if possible. "Whoa, what the?" Shimmer was taken by surprise by the mayhem on the ship, but she arrived just as the fight ended and things got calmer, though not less weird. The whole team wasn't there, but maybe there was a way to regroup and make some sense of what was going on. "Wait, Infra-" Shimmer tried, but she was gone even before she could finish. "Menace right?" she wondered out loud, guessing what had Evka in a hurry. Flypaper was already speaking with a badly battered Spider-Man, the hero seemed to take quite the beating to not recognize them, but that was understandable as he always seemed to push himself too far.
That left her with Jack, and she wasn't going to get any straight answers from him, so asking where the rest of the Guardians were didn't make much sense. "I was busy saving people and helping with the usual mutants fighting mutants routine" she informed with a shrug. "What's left to get done and why is there a drunk man with the saddest looking bear here?" she voiced, firstly noticing them in all the mess.
Health: 6/6 ; Energy: 12/18 Action: Social Skills 3 to be nice to that weird drunk man (although she will soon find that without speaking Russian she can't do much good) while she takes stock of what crazy mess they have gotten into this time. Health: 6/6 ; Energy: 9/18

With the threat now over the clowns face softened and became a look of confusion.... Jake looked up to find the Asgardian bueaty asking him what had happened. "Ugh.. I'm not really sure myself, really. Jack must have taken over again." The inventor looked around at the alien ship. "Where the hell are we? Did we make it back or did we end up on some kinda bug planet?" He rubbed his temples as he came out of his stuper.

Jim's outburst of anger helped steel him against the Menace's attack, but he could see the power gathered around the ridiculous would-be conqueror. Now that Jim was close enough to listen, it seemed that Stormcrow was determined to talk down his opponent. He made a mental note to find out what that was about later; obviously there was a connection there.
Out of the corner of his eye, Jim saw Evka appear, and a smile tugged at the edge of his mouth. In the short time he'd known her, Infra-red had proven herself a capable teammate but Jim saw her as more than that. Now that they were home...
"Infra-red, I could use an assist! Menace – you like being on top of the world, right?"
Wildfire put his shoulder into the Menace's center mass and put as much thrust behind him, angling upward, hoping to push the bastard away from those affected by his aura. He knew that the move made him vulnerable to retaliation, but he trusted that Evka of all people would have no trouble catching up.

Spidey does a backwards flip, plants his feet on the wall, and webs up Madame Mayfly, "Uh...it's all a bit fuzzy but I think I remember you. Most of it, anyway. At least that 'arthropod' line is familiar... Didn't you guys used to be Avengers or something?" Working the controls, Flypaper finds most of them locked (likely by the original crew after it had been boarded), but he's able to shut down the weapons systems and most of its atmospheric systems are functional. On the sensors he notices a large ship looming nearby, he didn't remember the Earth military having much in the way of a Space Force (maybe some atmospheric fighters and bombers and crude nuclear weaponry). The Helicarrier is a huge weapons platform that calls any notions of meager human defenses into question (although it still pales to any self-respecting alien empire's battle fleet). A voice cuts in on the buzz-link: "zzzz-Attention unlicensed superhumans, this is SHIELD. Please cease all illegal superhuman activity and land the vehicle at the nearest feasible location so it can be impounded. Thank you for your cooperation." The skyscraper with a big "A" on it looks like it has the largest landing space. "Maybe it's for the best I dart out," Spider-Man pensively tugs at his mask, "Last thing you all probably want is to be associated with little old Friendly Neighborhood Me..." ********** "Fear me! Fear... Fear..." The Menace tried to fire out another burst of his fear aura, gasping and sweating, but Wildfire and Infra-Red had pulled him high enough in the air that he wasn't able to draw anyone in its radius. Infra-Red's training had explicitly focused on shielding herself from The Menace's fear effect, her near-immunity to it's effects had been one of the reasons she had proven such a useful ally all those years against The Guardians. Now, though, that weapon had been turned on its former handler: between Evka's ethereal ghostly grip and Wildfire's entwining flames, he had little escape, and his only escape would have been a straight drop down. The Menace might be slowly cooking alive inside his armor, but his superhuman toughness is buying him time, although both grapplers suspected their target was seriously weighing his odds of surviving the fall... ********** "Your words and council prove wise now as they did then, Stormcrow..." Wukong strained under the pain of his crown, looked up as the SHIELD helicarrier began to make its approach, "Unfortunately the authorities of this jurisdiction are much less lenient than you are. I shall have to make my exit, Lord Raijin. But thank you, I shall not forget your help this day." The Monkey King then plucks one of his hairs off his head and blows on it, dissipating into steam, ending the conflict with honor. Raijin could either go to aid Wildfire and Infra-Red, or convene with the rest of the group.

"Ten four? Does that mean I copy?" Flypaper guesses, as he answers the hail. "This is Flypaper of the Guardians, technically not a human, but I do think I missed my car's annual re-registration date. Sorry, we've been off-dimension for a bit. Can I mail in my $20 plus $1 processing fee after landing this ship onto that big 'A' building below? "The Avengers... sure the web head got smacked once too many times..." Eira muttered for herself, low enough so Spider-Man couldn't hear, although she wasn't sure of how his powers worked. "Okay, be seeing you I guess..." she said goodbye once the friendly neighbor made obvious that he wanted out of that situation. "Was that there before?" she wondered suddenly serious, "And what the Hel is a superhero license?" Eira frowned. The only answer Eira had to Spider-Man's confusion, whatever was going on with the mutants and all this thing with SHIELD and a building she didn't know was that they got the wrong world once more, but it was unthinkable.
Not after the sacrifice.
Maybe there was a force toying with them? The Guardians get back home and in the middle of a fight with Menace of all people? Wait, she had been fooled before, and not just once. "Amora? Loki?" Shimmer shouted, looking around the bridge. Sure, they could fool them with illusions, but also were arrogant enough to show face when caught, if only to gloat. Could she even trust Flypaper and Jack? Their quite peculiar behavior wasn't an easy one to replicate, so perhaps they were the real ones and it was just the rest what was an illusion. Clearly annoyed with whatever Asgardian trickery she thought was going on, Shimmer was quick to jump to action.
"Something's amiss, we are being fooled. I'll scout ahead" Shimmer said briefly, trusting his teammates. A quick rainbow hop got her in the landing platform and before the prismatic energies could even fade, Shimmer had her trusty sword in hand. "Who's there? Stop this trickery and face me!" she called.

"Oh, hey baby, you get me present. Thank you." Said Evka, giving The Human Torch a quick and familiar peck on the cheek.
"If you are cooking, I like my Menace, well done."
In their time away she had come to rely on his strength and warmth (pun not intended), but most of all their banter had helped keep her sane.
"Now Ivan, don't go spoiling touching moment. We drop you off soon, how high depends on answer to simple question."
Whilst they were so high in the air she couldn't reliably attack him again with her death touch, besides, the first time should have killed him straight out. That combined with her Mistresses magic binding the October Rider, meant something was definitely up.
"You know question I want answered. Where. Is. My. Sister!?!"

Jim found himself holding his breath a little; releasing it just as suddenly when Evka didn't murder the comrade outright. He was okay with Commies getting murdered as a general principle, but this one was defeated and a prisoner, and she'd seen enough death and awfulness in her life. Actually, there was still a lot about her past that he didn't know; just the broad strokes.
That she was no coddled civilian was one of the things he liked about her. Loved? Yeah, maybe. They hadn't really been a thing for that long from their point of view, and now that they were back home he felt a sudden cold clenching in his gut, a fear that maybe their relationship had been one of desperate convenience...
He forced the thought aside and shifted his grip on the Menace, locking an arm behind his back and wrapping his own around the deranged man's throat.
"Better talk to the lady. Die here and your vision dies with you. Tell her what she wants and you can break out of a secret prison in a few years and we can do this again."
Wildfire looked over at the enormous ship approaching from the sky.
"Well that's new..."

STORMCROW”Go in Peace. I hope that our paths cross again soon, as friends.” Raijin said, bowing to the fading Monkey King. Once Wukong had vanished, he pivoted slowly to regard what remained of the conflict. His eyes narrowed when he saw The Menace, and his anger for the indignities conducted upon his friend and peer broiled within him. The clouds amassed suddenly and darkly in response, matching his eyes in severity and color. Thunder crashed, and the scent of petrichor became so thick that it could be tasted for blocks in every direction... and then, in true symbolic intensity— the fury of The God’s themselves erupted from the darkened skies and a blast of bright blue-white lightning came rushing for The Menace========================= ========================= H:05/05 E:12/12MODIFIERS: Extended-Life/Immortal, Healing Factor, Reflexive Dodge III, Toughness III EQUIPMENT: Oni Mask (MN3 Shapeshifting, Allspeak), Sandals of Flight (MN3), x2 Fulgurite Tonfa (MN1 each) ACTION 01: 08 Stones into Mastery of Weather for a x2 damage lightning blast. "You know exactly who to ask, Little One, you just don't want to run afoul of Her. I don't blame you. She swims deeper in that Hag's darkest magics than I would ever dare last I saw her, only plunging to further depths since you vanished. I may resemble him, but I don't keep track of Mephisto's affairs."
He laughed heartily at Wildfire's suggestions, "Yes, I welcome your show trial! My chance to testify to the corruption in the system! I only hope your so-beloved Free Press are there to write down my every word!" Even after all these years, The Menace appeared to be very much the same, and Raijin's precision lightning strike leaves him completely unconscious. The three can watch the SHIELD helicarrier circling as the Hivarian ship lands on a nearby skyscraper's helipad.
Shimmer emerged on the Stark Tower helipad in time to watch Iron Man and Johnny Storm land in the face of the looming shadow of the Hivarian Warship. The ship lands and the Guardians disembark (Spider-Man doing his best to quietly excuse himself).
"Hey, they can't park that here!" Stark calls out with an echo behind the helmet. He points over to Shimmer as she appears, "Hey, Rainbow Brite! You have any idea what's going on?"
At the sight of the Bifrost's champion, Johnny's memories start coming back, flaming off and slicking back blonde hair, "If I remember right, this beautiful young lady helped us save the world on more than one occasion. I don't think I could ever forget a face quite that pretty..."
"Cool your jets, Storm!" Stark snarks, "Questions first, flirting later. For all we know they're Skrull infiltrators posing as forgotten friends from the past..." To Shimmer, "Uh, no offense." Then quickly back to Johnny, "Think you of all people would be on the lookout for that."
Before Shimmer could interject too much between the two sharp-tongued heroes, the door to the tower penthouse opened. Iron Man at this point popped off his helmet, in the past Shimmer had thought Iron Man's secret identity to be a closely held secret, but now she saw Tony Stark stomping towards the opening glass sliding door in full red and yellow. "Hey! Has nobody around heard of property rights?"
"Apologies, Mr. Stark." The man was nondescript behind his sunglasses, black suit, his head completely bald. There was something off about his appearance, though it was only apparent on more long-term inspection that he was made entirely out of a ruddy clay. "Just arrived. I'm Agent Golem and I'm with STAFF."
"JARVIS vets all the SHIELD subcontractor staff and I've never seen your file..."
"No, you misunderstand me: Select Taskforce on Arcane Forces Foundation. What SWORD does for space, STAFF does for other dimensions." Shimmer knew Agent Golem, as would the rest of The Guardians. He had been their liaison years ago, although at that time he had been SHIELD. This was also the first time any of them had heard of STAFF. On a mission to Mount Wundagore his consciousness had been infused into a cube of radioactive clay which was then molded by the same rituals that animated Prague's famed defender of the same name. He had been a generally fair advocate towards justice, if impersonal and bureaucratic.
"If you have any idea what's going on we're all ears," Stark offered.
"Unfortunately, Mr. Stark I'm sure there are going to be far more questions than answers today, but I'll try to answer what I can."

Shimmer was on guard, it was just fitting of Amora, always the Enchantress, to play with her with a flirty illusion of Johnny Storm. Or perhaps it was Loki, just trying to distract her with heroes bickering and talking nonsense, waiting for her to relax. "I-" she tried to interject without success, "don't-" Shimmer kept the blade up, moving in alternatively between the golden gladiator and the matchstick. Tony Stark removing the helmet confused her, but maybe he thought his identity was safe atop that building?
Eira couldn't help but relax a bit when Agent Golem appeared, her stance slightly lowered, but he could be as well part of all that charade. She was sure they were back on their world and yet nothing was fitting as it should, so it had to be some kind of scheme. Did they talk about Skrull infiltrators? That sounded like nonsense made up to distract her.
"Golem! What's going on?" Shimmer voiced, an angry tone hiding the confusion and vulnerability behind it. "We ended up astray with the whole Onslaught thing, but after a few attempts and..." she paused, not wanting to think about the sacrifices made, "and we are back just to find this... this mockery!" she protested, feeling deep down that something was wrong but not what she thought. "I repeat, what's going on? Providing you are the real Golem that is..." she finished, raising her sword again.

Wildfire nearly dropped the Menace when the unexpected lightning blast robbed the villain of consciousness. He spared an irritated look at his thundersome teammate, his own mood balanced by the fact that Raijin had at least acted with precision in his attack. Seeing the gathering on the grounds of the unfamiliar A-Building, Jim began to descend, holding the prisoner aloft by his belt.
"Let's see about some answers," he said to Infra-red.
A few feet from the ground he released the Menace unceremoniously, then landed himself by the others as his personal inferno extinguished.
"Easy, Shimmer, I'm guessing we all have questions for each other. We weren't gone long enough for everything to be different – anyone know which Earth dimension this happens to be?"
Jim was eyeballing Johnny Storm and Tony Stark. There were a lot of little details that weren't adding up. He cracked his neck, suddenly very tired.
"I'm not really in the mood to fly Comrade here out to the Vault," He said, unknowingly referring to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s old prison facility. He nodded towards the helicarrier. "I don't suppose you have a cell on that thing that will hold him?"
