“This truly has the marks of a most evil plan about it,” Inari said thoughtfully listening to Raijin, “I shall try to buy you as much time as I can, but the mirror must be found and recovered. It is of more than just personal importance to Her Most Radiant as you can imagine...”
Tracking down Loki (if that youthful rapscallion was indeed he) would most likely require a trip back to the mortal plane, possibly to track down Thor (who normally at least was interested in righting his brother’s mischief). His fellow Guardians could also be of use, as he had found them to be on these kind of problems in the past, although knowing them they were probably getting into trouble on their own...
********
“There shouldn’t be any dangerous artifacts on display,” Golem explained to Eva, “Both SWORD and STAFF usually try to screen any archaeological displays for just this kind of situation. The relics should be entirely mundane...”
“So either we made a mistake or they did. Either way...” Wukong cracked his hairy simian knuckles, “Always like a little exercise before I eat.”
“We need our orders from the Directorate first,” the agent chastised the Monkey King on proper protocol (which he still bristled at), “The Guardians can roll out first, we’ll catch up after...”
Like riding a bike, there was a certain familiarity at gearing up the Guardians-Mobile and launching off towards another emergency with only the faintest idea what awaited. NYPD had set up police cars along the exterior to the Museum to block traffic, which had created a chorus of honking and shouting that called further attention to the unfolding chaos. A SWAT officer was shouting on a bullhorn as the Guardians-Mobile rapidly hovered toward the scene, and Eira emerges with her trademark rainbow shimmer in its shadow.: “Exit peacefully and lay down your weapons! Nobody needs to get hurt!”
A piece of concrete and steel rubble comes flying from inside the museum, spiking into concrete with a meteoric thud. The Wrecking Crew emerges from the museum: The Wrecker himself at the lead, Thunderball and Bulldozer at his flank (the former twirling his titular ball and chain casually), Piledriver holding up the rear. Piledriver had over his shoulder the primary interest of their efforts: a miniature golden barge housing a beaten golden mirror in the shape of the sun. “You hear that, boys?” The Wrecker says to his crew with a sarcastic grin, “Nobody needs to get hurt.” The career super-criminals had gone toe-to-toe with the likes of Thor, Hulk, the X-Men, and the Guardians in their work.
“Careful, you idiots!” a rough voice growled from behind the Wrecking Crew, and a second hissed, “That’s worth more than you are!” Supervising the Wrecking Crew were two familiar foes to the Guardians, the mercenaries Roughhouse and Bloodscream: the former was massive and hirsute, superhumanly strongly (suspectedly of Asgardian heritage), hiding a scarred frame, and the latter was lean and pale behind black leather, decidedly vampiric although of a strain different than most (most notably in this instance not being hindered by daylight). They worked for the highest bidder, typically criminals like the Kingpin, or Maggia families like the Hammerhead or Silvermane Family, but exactly why they were working alongside the Wrecking Crew on this job was not immediately clear. Hearing their reproach, Piledriver takes a step back towards them, stating the obvious: “Looks like we got company...”

Flypaper swoops down and lays his sticky hands onto the top of the stolen barge.
"I don't think this belongs to you! And you all are either too ugly or don't cast a reflection in a mirror anyway. That is if you are that kind of vampire, Bloodscream? What are you all playing at here? Is the Wrecking Crew trying to be a real crew team by stealing a water vehicle? And I'll get to you next Roughhouse, as soon as I think of a good pun!"
Action 1: 4 stones Flight to fly at Flight Speed 5 to the top of the mirror combined with... Action 2: 4 stones Strength (+ Immovability) to grab the top of the barge holding the mirror and stick to it. (Then fly away with it if possible.)

Whatever good spirits and positive thoughts Shimmer was trying to reinforce as she teleported into action were starting to disappear as she saw what was going on. It didn't mean it was connected, but it couldn't be a coincidence, could it? The weirdo in black leather she didn't really know, but as someone with a definitively strange Asgardian origin she was well aware of the connection with that realm that both Wrecking Crew and Roughhouse had. Sure Odin didn't send Valkyrie to fetch her for those goons, but then again that was hardly the usual hit such criminals tended to favor, so that meant they were working for someone else.
Either way, any doubts about this Earth they had ended arriving to and any questions they had about the crisis at hand would have to wait until the supervillains were reduced. One shouldn't underestimate the danger those thugs represented, but the Guardians had seen way worse, so the trick would be in doing in as fast and safe as possible considering that the risk of collateral damage was high. Leaving the talking, jokingly or otherwise, to the rest of her team Shimmer got ready for a brawl. The Guardians didn't have a mighty reputation no more, so forcing those morons to surrender didn't seem like a way out.

Infra-red surveyed the scene and switched her comm to the frequency she knew agent Gollem would be monitoring.
"Infra-red to Gollem, we have Wrecking Crew, Roughhouse and Blood Scream trying to steal small golden boat. Please advise if Raft or Mojave Desert facility is available for containment."
Back in the now distant past SHIELD had created special 'bunkers' for the Guardians to deliver bag guys into. Rooms deep in the bowels of the earth or far out to sea where super beings could be teleported into.
She had no doubt that they could beat them, the only question was how messy this was going to get. She had a plan, but it was going to be pointless if the idiots could not be contained afterwards. If they were just going to escape she would have to adjust to something a little more permanent.
She appeared in a blur next to the cop with the speaker and smiled sweetly.
"Excuse me, may I borrow please?" She said, not waiting for the response, taking the speaker gently but firmly out of the cops hand.
"Attention criminals. This is Infra-Red of 'The Guardians'. I am not in good mood so you will please return stolen property and surrender to nice police officers. This is only warning."
Turning to the cop she briefly spoke.
"You should get everyone clear. They never listen."
And then she was gone.

Wildfire rocketed onto the scene like a blazing meteor, just affter the others arrived.
"Hey, Flypaper," Jim called out over the roar of his own trailing fire, "Remind me again – vampires are usually flamable, right?"
Angling down towards the villians, Wildfire poured on the speed, setting up a towering wall of fire to surround and cut off the Wrecking Crew's escape. One fist leading the way, the other tucked against his chest, Jim skimmed across the sound barrier, wrapping the inferno around itself, producing enough G-forces to knock out an ordinary man.
"Let's Go, Guardians!"

“Alright, you heard her. Clear back!” “Hear who?” one of the officers called out behind. “No, I saw her just a second ago too!” Another agreed with the captain, “She was there and...” “Just move!” The police tried to expand their radius to give the Guardians more room to fight their opponents, and Infra-Red astrally apparated to get into striking position.
Flypaper plucked the polished golden mirror away with his sticky fingers to gasps on consternation from the Wrecking Crew, who hurried to shield themselves from Wildfire’s flames. He would have made a clean getaway if Roughhouse hadn’t grabbed him by the ankle, “Not so fast...”
Piledriver managed to gasp out, “H-Hot!” before shielding his face with his oversized fists from the full flash of Wildfire’s fiery ring. The Crew’s mystically enhanced forms shielded them limitedly from the flames but only limitedly. Bloodscream hissed at Wildfire, “You will find I’m far from the typical vampire!” and, shielding his wrinkled visage with his leathery sleeve, tumbled past the flames, fangs bared and claws. His red eyes glared at Eira and her rainbow-hued blade under his dark glasses, extending a leathery tongue and baring pointed fangs, “Though perhaps more typical in some ways than others...”
******** Raijin followed his imposter through a stable dimensional gate, one of several linking the various divine realms to the Inner Dimensions to those aware of them. Many have been well-documented: The Crossroads, The Microverse, The Astral Plane, this one took the form of a spiral staircase spiralling off infinitely both ascending and descending, with doors at intervals leading off the seemingly Infinite Staircase. The Kami of Thunder frequently used travel through these types of planes in his business for the Skyfathers, alongside his on-again-off-again partner Fujin, the Kami of Winds, and, in one of those “speak of the devil” moments if there ever was one, he was startled to find Fujin.
“There you are, partner!” Fujin laughed jovially, “Musta been centuries since the last time I saw you: what’s her name?” He laughed louder and slaps Raijin’s shoulder, “I thought I saw you running this way, but...you’re missing the Celestial Mirror?” He scratched his head under the horns, “Have you misplaced it? Surely The Brightest and Most Beautiful Object in The Heavens will be most displeased...” Fujin was always the brawn to your brains, although perhaps the blue-skinned buffoon was acting even stupider than usual (if that was possible).

Can Roughhouse fly? Flypaper doesn't think so. Is Roughhouse an immovable object like the Blob? Not the last time Zzzrx checked. How about breathing? Does Roughhouse need to breathe? Probably. So, Flypaper flies up into the sky, taking Roughhouse with him, as high into the stratosphere that he can.
"Not so fast at all, Mister House of Unsmoothness. Enjoy this fly's-eye view of our fine city and the Statue of Liberty. It'll take your breath away!" Literally. Flypaper takes a deep breath and holds it as he rockets toward space.
Action 1: 5 stones Flight straight up at Flight Speed 2 with Roughhouse and the mirror. Action 2: 6 stones Durability preparing to hold his breath once the air gets too cold and thin to breathe normally, while also managing whatever pain Roughhouse tries to inflict on his leg while hanging from it.

"Hello there, tall, dark and stupid" Eira sneered, seemingly finding herself a dance partner to vent her frustrations and pain with. "Even if I was in the mood, not my type" she readied to fight him, not really knowing what could that one do. "And I'm not in the mood" she assured. Shimmer couldn't idle with him either, as that would leave the wrecking crew outnumbering the rest of her team, and even if they were more than able to manage she still didn't like the odds.
In some other situation she would be judicious, even careful. But without civilians in danger, with her world feeling alien and her father in a grave, Eira acted loose, impulsive. Outright charging at the peculiar vampire, she tried to outright slice him out of the way. A grieving one leaning more into her Asgardian warrior side than her superhero one, Eira had no mercy in mind.

"He knows." Said Infra-red, appearing behind Bloodstream at a run.
"That is why this will only hurt... Alot."
She had seen Shimmer winding up for her attack. From her perspective everything happened at a sleepy crawl when her super speed was activated. It made it childs play to judge the perfect time to interrupt his Dodge and add momentum to Shimmers attack.
The heel of her palm met with the small of Bloodscream's back and her momentum was added to his driving him forward into Shimmers slash.
He would survive. If she knew anything about him she knew he was notoriously hard to put down. She would have channelled her death energy into him, but as he was already dead that stood a chance of just healing him so wasn't something she wanted to take a chance on.
She would vanish immediately afterwards, just to keep the bad guys guessing.

As the raging inferno circled the remaining villians, Wildfire suddenly burst into their midst, flying like a missle straight at them.

Raijin’s enthusiasm at the serendipitous reunion is mitigated, quite noticeably, by the scrutiny with which he examines his friend. ”If it is truly you my good friend, then truly the Kami have smiled upon me. Please forgive my lack if formalities and hurry.
“The one you saw was not me— I have long been trapped a far off land until mere hours ago, and upon return rushed home to find another wearing my face... the Mirror in his grip as he fled. I pursue him now, hotly... the mirror in that naive’s hands could spell calamity. My honor, and perhaps Existence, is on the line.
“As such I must away. If you’ve the time your companionship would be most welcome.. if not, please assure any you see that I WILL apprehend that Asgardian thief and return that which was stolen while masquerading as me.” He bows, curtly, with no expectations and resumes his chase.

Roughhouse struggles and resists, but Flypaper holds tight and takes the two on a one-way trip high above Manhattan, high enough that frost begins forming on Flypaper's wings (thankfully they're mostly for show) and on the tips of Roughhouse's beard like little icicles. The struggle slows and soon the lack of atmosphere is enough to make him dip into unconsciousness. He lets go of Flypaper's ankle and starts falling at high speed back to the Earth below. Bloodscream calls out, "Let go, you idiot! Nothing's that important to --" so he was fully distracted as Infra-Red kicked him from multiple sides, putting him in position to face the full brunt of Shimmer's attack. He hisses when the rainbow blade pierces him and draws out evil black ichor. Wrecker struggled with Wildfire over his enchanted crowbar, attempting a last stand around the unconscious bodies of his compatriots, "Let go!" Soon it began to glow red hot and he had to let it go, blowing on his burnt fingers. "Don't you know not to take other people's things?!" He winds up, seemingly oblivious to the intense irony of his statement, and punches as hard as he can, which still has a degree of superhuman strength behind it, but as Hammond remembered in facing the Wrecking Crew before, much of the Wrecker's strength lied in that crowbar and only residuals remained when he no longer grasped it (OOC: Wildfire still takes 1w of damage.) ********** Fujin shouted out words of encouragement as Raijin hurried on, "Hurry on, Brother, I'm sure you'll catch that handsome rogue Loki soon enough..." Which is exactly when Raijin felt the boot on his back send him flying. For a mortal surely a tumble down such a series of stairs would have been injurious, but Raijin's divine grace helps him to gain his footing in time to see Kid Loki drop another disguise. He cackled, "I'd ask if all thunder gods are this stupid but I know from experience they are! Later, loser!" He rushes through the nearest gateway, cackling all the while, Raijin thinking little more than to make chase, finding the portal emptied out back in the Earth-realm. The Pyramid of the Sun in what was once Teotichuan, modern day Mexico. It was a sad shadow of its glorious golden and bloodstained past, but Raijin could still sense the sacrificial energies running strong in this place. The sky is clear and blue, which is all the stranger when he hears the familiar crackle of thunder and lightning and the roaring of wind. A large muscular form crashes into the ground, and The Mighty Thor struggles to his feet, cradling his mighty hammer Mjolnir. He looks back at Raijin and recognizes him, scoffs, "Raijin! You too?! What has Loki promised you two?" Just then the gust of wind knocks him back in the air, playing cat and mouse with him. Fujin - the real Fujin - is floating in the air and weaving the wind out of his magic bag, his club strapped to his back. "There you are, Brother!" Fujin exclaimed, "Loki said you were coming! Knew he wasn't lying!" "Of course he's lying Loki always...!" Thor tried to get out as Fujin slammed him repeatedly into the ground, leaving a deepening crater. "Silence, outsider! Come Raijin, help me finish him off! Loki's starting a new pantheon; I'm gonna be the new sky god! You can be God of Thunder if ya want ta..."

Flypaper paces the falling Roughhouse to make sure he doesn't land where he can die or injure someone else. The Hudson River is a lot more polluted than it was when he last was on earth, so that could be a good place. Roughhouse will probably not drown. When he can flap his wings again, Flypaper uses then to blown Roughhouse toward a nonlethal landing spot.

"Still alive, stubborn bloodsucker..." Shimmer grumbled. Venting her feelings by hacking at that monster probably wasn't healthy, but she wasn't keen on visiting a shrink, so that would have to do. "You aren't going to get anything you expected from this fight" she promised, ready to push the advantage and get rid of the vampire. Eira trusted her teammates and she wasn't in the best state of mind, so she furthered her attack without much regard for her own safety, disregarding the rest of the villains in that fight and leaving herself a bit open if some turned out to be idle.
