"Understood... He we go." He said leading you back out of the portal, and heading into warp speed for the world of Vrakkus.

James
"Okay. And are we still headed in the starbase's general direction?" he asked, smiling.

"about 22 degrees off course if we look at it in spherical terms from our position." Nami said bringing up a 3D map to show the two destinations.

"Hmm. Sounds like we should be able to make it back to the starbase for the expected time if we hurry", he pondered. "Well, I believe this will be all. I'll leave you to your people, we'll let you know if there's anything", he toled the penguins' leader.

"Very well. Bring us up to Warp 9.7 and keep us on it unless there's an issue. Let's do our best to make it on time if possible", he requested.

"A giant portal leading who knows where, with multiple Fae'Rhal ruins... how fascinating", James pondered. "Send out a message to that Fae'Rhal colony we contacted earlier to let them know we have successfully performed our unexpected rescue mission, and are on our way to our intended starbase as planned, no need to alarm anyone", he requested, getting up.
"I'll be in my ready room if there's anything", he said, heading over to it.

James
James sat at his desk and turned on his log recorder.
"Captain's log... Stardate, 87406.1. We have successfully established the colony on its new planetary home despite the latter's rather hostile flora. Our return home has been interrupted by a distress call which led us to a massive portal, not only stable and usable both ways, but also seemingly permanent, having been open for over 300,000 years according to our sensors.
After careful consideration and sending out a message explaining the situation to an allied Fae'Rhal outpost just in case, we attempted passage in order to respond to the call. We were unable to identify our surroundings using available data. Nothing seemed to match our records, so our best guess at the time is that the portal either took us extremely far, or at the wildest, either in a different time, or another universe, although I think the latter is less likely, for we detected multiple Fae'Rhal ruins on the other side.
At any rate, we located and rescured the crew of the crashed ship who had sent out the call, along with their companion "Pals", creatures from the land they had survived on until our arrival, and have successfully returned through the portal into known Federation space. We are currently on our way to bring them to the nearest Fae'Rhal world of Vrakkus, where we will leave them to continue on our way back to the Starbase. It is my opinion that at our current speed, we should make it back in time despite our unexpected detour. Needless to say... further exploration and investigation into that portal and what lies beyond would likely be of great interest to both Starfleet and the Federation, and the Howlet clan", he concluded, before turning the device off.

James
His recording done, he returned to the bridge to handle his duties for the rest of the day. OOC: Unless any thing happens or interrupts our path, James will just take care of his duties for the next few days until we get our rescued penguins to their destination, and then head back to starbase. Feel free to fast forward if you want, or not if you have other plans, lol.
