We’ve been trying to set up a conversion of the D&D rules over in the Rules Discussion board, and I’m looking for a chance to playtest the rules in “real world” situations. And what better place than here? Set in the scenic world of Eberron in the equally scenic Sharn, the heroes are thrust headfirst into a struggle that will take them onto the scenic Skyway and deep into the lava pit of the old goblin cities built underneath Sharn. Character Creation Rules: * 15 stones + up to 5 in challenges. Use the rules for magic and so on that I’ve been outlining in the “D&D 1” Thread found here at: murpg.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=House&action=display&thread=1159465473&page=1* No race is verboten. Warforged, Changelings, and Shifters incur a 2 stone challenge, and Kalashtar a 1 stone challenge. Warforged can be allowed a 3-stone modifier called “Living Construct,” which will protect them from poison, sleep effects, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, sickness, and energy drain. * Include your alignment in your CAD. Although alignment isn’t as fixed a thing in Eberron, it’s good to know who’s detected as good and who’s detected as evil. Evil will be frowned upon, but if interesting enough, will be allowed. * Passing familiarity with the Eberron setting will be extremely helpful. There will be a bit more roleplaying/mystery solving/dungeon delving and a bit less combat than your normal D&D game, and the game should have a noir/dark fantasy feel to it. * Semi-Mature tone, which may go up or down based on player's tolerances and my own. * Equipment: up to 2 weapons with (+1) weapon modifiers, and armor of either (+1) or (+2) defense, which would be classified in D&D terms as light or medium armor. Magical items can be priced out as normal equipment, but realize you're on a big budget stonewise. * Any questions? PM me and I’ll help you out. Looking for 4-6 players for either a one-shot or long-term campaign, depending on how the rules play test. Interested? PM me and we’ll talk.

I'm not that familiar with Eberron, but I am old had with DnD and medieval fantasy gaming. If you'll have me, I'd like to play neutral-good vagabond mercenary. I've been reading way too much A Song of Ice and Fire and I need to work it out of my system.
If you'll have me, that is.

Definitely! And that concept will fit in pretty easily. PM me and we'll talk.

I want to try something as an Arcane Duelist (A rapier wielding warrior with specialty in using illusions as he fights) but that is just an idea.

Very cool thusfar, guys. For anyone else applying, depending on what Shigoki plays (knowing him, I'm guessing some kind of rogue/wizard/ninja-ish thing) the team may need some kind of divine caster/healer. So that'll be prioritized for those of you looking for that coveted 5th spot.

Koff hrugh-kughff hrack!' 'Kittens! So cutesy! So tasty. Pity they take ages to skin.' 'We shall crush this... hruf... villain underfoot as easily as I, Jonelim, would crush a cute... acgkk koff koff... kitten underfoot! Ugh.' 'Step right up! I got plenty o' death for everybody!' 'The air in this dungeon is none too good. Koff. Koff. M-my lungs are flopping all over the dirt! Argk-ugh.' 'DON'T TOUCH ME!'
Background: Jonalim Korsh is not keen to discuss his past. When pressed, he reluctantly admits that he was a foundling raised by humans in a quiet border town. At a young age he ran away to pursue his lust for magic. He was apprenticed to the Necromancer Zedenko Firemuth. During his stint as an apprentice he picked up a nasty lung disease while grave-robbing. And now the Necromancer is dead. Or perhaps not. In any case, his apprentice has moved out into the world to make something of himself.
Jonelim is a driven elf. He would be quite handsome in a frail way, were it not that he is permanently sick, pallid and unhealthy-looking, with a nasty hacking cough. All his time is devoted to the study of magic. Within Jonelim burns the febrile hunger that leads a mage to lichdom.
Although evil by the standards of a cruel, uncaring society that does not care much for his 'activities' (which may include such things as ritual dissection, grave-defiling and interfering with the sanctity of life and death on a daily basis), Jonelim has many qualities that make him an ideal companion. He has a strange sense of honour. He has no cruelty within him, only curiosity and avid interest, which can of course be much worse, especially for his test subjects. Oh, he can be charming, amiable, useful to his companions, even affectionate: but few seem to travel with him for long.
After a while many people get the unsettling feeling that he is measuring them up for a coffin.

Just 2 at this point, yours and browwiw's. Shigoki PM-ed me his idea, and I gave him some advice on how to make it, which he should be working on now. Nigromante sent me a CAD and now we're working on background. And anyone else who's interested in playing hasn't said anything yet (which I'm hoping, *cough*we need a divine caster *cough*.)
I'll get a thread up and running so we can get things spinning.

Anyone interested in playing a cleric/druid?
If nobody PMs me with something within the next couple of days, I'll GMPC one.

Oh, pish-posh, we don't need a cleric. Just a Wand of Heal Light Wounds. We don't need a rogue, either. Just a collapsible ten-foot pole, a crowbar, and a rubber ball.

I think partly the problem is that no one except us is willing to risk this kind of game because it is a one-shot.
Hmm...
Why not post an ad in the main recruitment section, and say that if the game goes well then the characters may be used again/revised for another D&D game later?

How is the recruitment going? I would invite friends (D&Ders) but they only write in Spanish Anyway I wish the play started, or are we waiting for someone?
