This is just something I'm putting out there to balance New Action: Cop. I think that action was on the right track because there does seem to be a need for a specialized knowledge action for it. I'm basing my cost on Computers, a specialized form of Technology. Here it is:
Law Enforcement
Cost: AN
This character has the training or knowledge of police procedure and tactics. They may be a police officer or just able to think like one. The kind of cop depends on thier specialties. You get one for every level of Action Number. This also comes with an Intelligence bonus. To round out the character take Combat (close or ranged) and Vehicle Operation. If you're a cop on horseback in Central Park you could also take Horsemanship (Avengers book).
Specialties (borrowed some things from from the action "Cop", it was very extensive and well thought out and I give credit where credit is due - Good job Pirate Spice)
(feel free to make up your own)
Law • Stakeout • Interrogation • Profiling
Streetwise • Shadowing • Search • Negotiation
Forensics • Criminal Psychology • Police Procedure
Action Discounts (can only be taken if the character is or was formerly a police officer and went through the police accademy for training. Must be part of the character's back story and is open to story hook/plot devices by GM. Can only be taken at GMs discretion)
-1 to Combat, Ranged (at least one specialty must be Handgun)
-1 to Vehicle Opperation (at least one specialty must be devoted to a vehicle common to police work)
Well, I hope you all like my take on it. Agian, I mean no disrespect to Pirate Spice. I think "Cop" was a nice attempt, just a little too much.
