Okay, I was just reading a book entitled "The Ultimate Guide to the Man of Steel," from my Public Library, and I've got a couple of Superman questions.
One of his listed superpowers is entitled: Super-Hypnotism and here's the description that it gives:
"Though he has yet to master its intricacies, Superman sometimes utilizes the Torquasm-Vo, an ancient Krryptonian warrior discipline. By shifting his consciousness onto a higher (Theta) state, he can fight an enemy in a purely mental realm."
So anyway, my questions about this are, what's the advantage to figthing someone in a purely mental realm and how do you price it?
It seems different from the Astral Plane b/c he can engage his opponent if he shifts his consciousness (if you're on the Astral Plane to my understanding you need a power or special equipment to get there).
Also if any of you have seen the movie you'll know that Supes has super-hearing, be able to hear everything seperately and all at the same time from several miles away up in the earth's atmosphere, how would that work?
Your thoughts and comments are very much appreciated so thanks ahead of time.

Clark is a Scientologist?

Theta Waves (like Alpha, Beta, and Delta Waves) are mind patterns observed during some sleep stages, and - more importantly - during deep concentration, such as meditation. If it came out that he's supposed to represent the Scientology bunch, I'd have to give him the cold shoulder. Alien from the mysterious planet Krypton, I can believe, but Scientology is just too far out there.

Thank you Beryl, that cleared up whether or not Clark was a scientologist and was very educational.
Does anyone have any idea of how to price these though? I'm kind of anxious to make a character whom can do the first power I described.

As for pricing, from what I've read on Wikipedia, it seems as though to "fight an enemy in a purely mental realm" includes fighting enemies (physically) on the Astral Plane, as well as defending against mental attacks. I'd probably take Telepathy (with the Astral Travel option) and call it Torquasm-Vao, with the stipulations that he could attack other spirits while incorporeal. It'd be +1CL to add Astral Travel to Telepathy, and maybe another to attack other spirits? I'd personally allow that for free, but that's just me. Take several levels off to dumb down the Telepathy to just the defense, and you're good to go. Also, I saw a glimpse of something involving Illusions and this power... if that's the case, this would be a good way to add it. I'm still hazy on what this power does, exactly, so take that as you will. Then again, this is a supremely obscure power probably not necessary for Superman. But if you want to give it to a new character who does this exclusively, it's probably worth the putzing. The super-hearing... I'd take the Enhanced Vision modifier and change it to Super Hearing. That, at least, seems pretty straight-forward. Telescopic Hearing is 1r, with a desired range of 5-6, which means it'd cost between 1w2r and 2w.
