Ive seen this once before on the forums, but i am gona use it for a character, so i wanted some opinions on it (maybe even from the person that made the first one).
=============================================
KINETIC ABSORBTION Cost level = AN#+6
Description This works allot like physical invulnrability, but instead it absorbs stones of attack from any physical attacks, or attacks which contains kinetic energy (which is everything thats moving), and then use that stored energy to boost the characters own physical abilities.
Like absorb 5 stones of energy from an attack, and spend it on increasing the characters agility by 5 points. Then the next panel, the energy "bleeds off" with 1 (4), next panel 1 more (3), next panel 1 more (2), next panel 1 more (1). And then his stats turn back to normal.
Comments A very good defensive power, which quickly can become useful in allot of situations. Need to get through that wall? Fine, ill smash my way. Need to get up in that tree? Fine, ill jump my way up. Need to get someplace fast? Fine ill... ect.
Rules for Action Box * Absorb AN# of stones from any attack containing kinetic energy. * Spend stored energy to increasing physical abilities for a 1-on-1 basis (except Durability, which cost 3 to increase). * Increased abilities "bleed off" 1 for every panel, until the abilities are set to normal (even if not spend, the energy bleeds away, so it cant be saved for later)

I like it; it’s like a low level Speedball
Thoughts On Pricing: Despite my first impulse, I wouldn’t want to base the cost of this one on a Mastery because a lot of people here would consider Mastery of Kinetic Energy to have a +8 base cost and you really don’t seem to be asking enough out of it here to justify the cost. Case in point…
+5 (Only +1 with Mastery) Kinetic Energy Absorption/Reflection +6 Metamorphosis -2 Improve Only Physical Abilities
1) As a mastery: AN +13 +8 Base +1 Kinetic Energy Absorption/Reflection +4 Metamorphosis (Improve Only Physical Abilities)
Yeah, that just seems excessive.
2) As two actions of comparable price combined: AN +7
+5 Kinetic Energy Absorption/Reflection AND +4 Metamorphosis (Improve Only Physical Abilities)
+4 Cheaper Action +3 Add second Action
Seems pretty fair. Close to what you have too.

I have also been thinking about increasing it to a +7. Even though it dosent have "absorb double AN#", its powers can as mentioned be used in ALLOT of situations. One of the bigger advantages with it, is the increased resistance to physical harm. Besides not taking damage, you are able to use that damage.
Ive even gone so far as to think about letting it temporaly improve Toughness and Reflexive dodge (maybe even other modifers to??)... That would be another +3 or so to the cost level...

I have also been thinking about increasing it to a +7. Even though it doesn’t have "absorb double AN#", Ah, I didn’t catch that last part. I suppose that might give you a -1 “not very useful”. Nah, it’d just negate the -2 to metamorphosis and bring its price back up to the regular AN +6 (and even then it might still be limiting enough to warrant a -1 “not very useful”).

I have always liked Sebastian Shaw. His Kinetic Absorb went to strength only. In his case it should be based on a mastery, with use mastery level instead of strength option. After reducing the cost due to all the mastery options it DOESN'T have, adding the use in place of strength and invulnerability makes it cheaper in the long run.
But for using it on Agility and Dodges and everything else, yeah it should be pretty damned expensive.

One of the reasons i havent added the "absorb double AN#", is that it would give a WHOLE lot of defense Vs more or less anything... Except energy, magic, gass, poison, acid... But those things are rare in marvel.... Also, with Double AN# of energy to spend on all Physical stats, you will be able to beef a character in mere panels. I can just imagen The Hulk give the character a blow of about 12 stones (he has AN# 6 ), throws it all into Strength, and gives Mr. Green a smack which he WILL feel... Hmmmm.... but then again....... Just a thought... Lets give it back its double storing ability... The action can only absorb so many stones. These stones can be spend on abilities. Even though they are spend on abilities, the action cant absorb more stones than its AN#. Also, the stones cant be rearranged. So lets take the last exampel with hulk, he has know fully boosted him strength. Next panel... Hulk smashes him again (with 11 stones this time). Know the only defense he has against this will be hos own Toughness/reflexive Dodge... Which i thought will be that high with a Kinetic Absorbtion of 6.... So its actully not that bad again giving it "absorb double AN#".... Maybe make it a option for the power...

I seem to recall that Shaw can only absorb blunt impact, leaving him still vulnerable to guns, knives, etc. If you fight him unarmed, you're going to lose, but if you've got a katana, you'll likely beat him. That makes a difference in pricing, too. I seem to recall reading a much cheaper (but also less effective) version of this action somewhere else on these boards. I think PirateSpice made it. You could possibly argue that this is just the same but with more options built-in.

EDITED: I found the first version of this power... murpg.proboards19.com/index.cgi?board=custom&action=display&thread=1062383448hmmm... I think i remember something... or i just got the idea... Concusive Absorbtion Absorb energy from punshes, smashes, crashes and other blunt forces... Know this could be and option for the Action... -2 to cost level But i dont remember pirate made something like it... I think i have all the house rules pirate have posted here... He's real good at making house rules
