I wouldn't let people take Force Field as a modifier for MN+6. Here's why... At a CL+6, Stoneless Force Field is soon costing 5w per level and giving +2 defense per level. A high level unbreachable toughness (which does the same thing) soon costs 5w per level and gives +1 defense per level. A Stoneless Force Field is just a different flavor for unbreachable toughness, there's no way I'd charge a different price for the two powers. -Stephen Maybe I'm missing the point, but a modifier forcefield would be a pretty powerfull defense. Static Forcefield 5 (15w) - Forcefield AN +3, if I'm not mistaken - Modifier (+4) - Can't be used to help friends (-2) That would give you 10 stones of defense immune to armor piercing for 15w stones, where as with straight toughness you'd get 6 stones of non-piercable defense, or 7 stones of vulnerable defense, with Reflexive Dodge being much the same. Now, mixing them, you get 5 toughness (9w) and 4 Reflexive Dodge (6w) for a total of 9 defense (only half of which is effective against AP or Area attacks) for the same price (15w). Now, add in armor and you could have 4 toughness (6w), 3 Reflexive Dodge (4w) and 3 armor (4w) which equal a defense of 10 for 14w stones. When you factor in that only 3 stones are effective against AP attacks, and 7 stones against area, Forcefield mod still has the lead. . . I missed the point entirely, didn't I?

I agree with the sentiment but have spent too much time crunching numbers in order to keep low level characters from getting slaughtered. I understand that toughness gets obscenely expensive fast when compared to other defensive options, but I also think buying toughness at a high MN to begin with is damn foolish if you're in anything but a high-powered game. I'm grateful for the ability to buy toughness and reflexive dodge for double the defense and half the cost, otherwise your stones are gone before you've even got the 2nd dimension to your character, let alone the 3rd.
