My group decided to break down every white stone when damaged. It makes the fights longer, but with the rules as they were they would be over in about 2 rounds.
Not much fun either way, and this just makes more sense to me.

Yeah, that might be a good idea. I prefer it the way it is though.

i did that in some real life games. it has it's ups and downs. the downs are mostly for the GM. the rules lawyers can really come out in droves then.
"how does that villian have enough energy to do that? i thought he spent 9 stones last panel?"
with the health rules as they are you have 3 stones to play with as a GM. it just makes for better story telling. situational modiers can help the if you stay with breaking down the system but still it's good to have a little mystery in the relationship between players and their GM.
