LOEs work just fine as they are. You get better at things you practice. Where's the problem? Why should you be able to learn Inventing because you beat up some guys in a park? LOEs are, if anything, too generous--you learn more from trying something hard and new than you do from doing something easy and rote. For instance, Captain America would learn nothing from beating up a few muggers, whereas he might learn something from fighting Wolverine or the Thing.
