I have always wondered what close combat number is appropriate for my characters. Here are a couple of benchmarks that I might suggest. Next to each AN are the approximate level of skill that a close combat fighter might have
Close Combat ANs: 0 - beating up younger siblings 1 - Beginning level martial artist, some experience in a real fight 2 - Mid belt martial artist, significant real fighting experience, high school wrestler 3 - Black Belt level martial artist, College wrestler, great brawler 4 - Black Belt level martial artist, Champion College Wrestler 5 - Multiple Black Belt level martial artist, Olympic level wrestler 6 - Revolutionary Martial artist capable of inventing his own unique style 7 - Legendary Martial artist (maybe a dozen of these have actually ever lived in real life) 8-10 ascending degrees of Holy Crap!
I'm open for questions and comments. Let me know what you think.

Sounds about right Scrip, Good work. Maybe we should post some more of those benchmarks here.
Here are the ones for Intelligence: 1 = IQ of 70 or lower 2 = 70-115 3 = 115-130 4 = 130-145 5 = 145-160 6 = 160-175 7 = 175+ We might need some better benchmarks for General Knowledge and such.

Hmmm, they all sound pretty good.
I think for General Knowledge, you could use the D&R chart; its got something for education I believe. Basically the number you have for general knowledge would reflect to what extent you know the specialties (high school, bachelors, masters, doctoral, etc.).
