(Disclaimer, still away, but man, I love MURPG. I aint got the energy to roleplay but you better believe I can ponder about it!)
Im trying to come up with an option for durability that effects the regeneration of red stones. Sometimes, a rousing speach or a well timed reminder or compliment can stir something within you, a re-invigorating moment that fills you with passion and energy. The nearest MURPG has to this is Leadership, and it still dosnt quite cut it.
So, I was thinking, Ive not got the kinks for this ironed out yet, but, here goes.
Leadership Option: Reinvigorate (+3)
Stones may be split between allies. For each stone invested, allies regenerate 1/2 a red stone. Consecutive Effects are cumulative. Character may not regenerate any more than his or her maximum capacity.
E.G Fighting the Hordes of Apocalypse, the X-Man member and wife of Magneto known as Rogue takes a powerful knock, and plummets to the earth. She has been giving this fight her all, and was unlucky to take such a blow having just attacked a horde of Infinites for all she is worth. The knock leaves her at 1 white stone, and, regenerating 1 white stone per panel, its gonna be a while before Rogue is in action again. Realising Rogue is an integral part of the fight, Morph (who took the option "Re-Invigorate" as an Action at 5, pumps all 5 stones into it, as well as 2 stones into shape shifting (into her son, for effect) and delivers a heart-warming speach about how she needs to fight on! Rogue recovers 1 red stone from her durability, and 2 from Morphs efforts. should Morph wish, he could put another stone of effort into Re-invigorate, and Rogue would regain 2 red stones, instead of 1, because Morph had a half a stone left over.
Umm, its sorta complicated, I guess. Well the example is, I guess players would just do it. But I like the idea of the option. Perhaps it could be an option for social skills as well. (Although, it wouldnt pair well with my Social Skills Refund rule). I can just imagine, a particularly passionate hero, egging on a fellow to push past his (white stone-loss based) pain and just keep going on! Perhaps the limit on this rule isnt cool, but I dont like the idea of int. based chars. pumping up everyones regeneration by 1 or 2 every panel, at a very small price. Desperation (ie damage) fits in with the roleplaying schtick.
well sometimes.
As I say, this is in the air. I was considering a limit of +1 or +2 the normal regen level, incase a perfectly healthy character (ie Cable) needs to use his powers to restore the mentally fractured mind of his comrade in arms (ie Deadpool) and needed a sustained, high stone effort to do it. Ah I dont know. This is why i am putting it out there.
