An old player of mine during a Thunderbolts game created the character Lee Jasper aka Forgetmenot, a man with Mastery over Memory.
Well, I just finished reading New Avengers: Illuminati #2, and it had a great story with the Infinity Gems and Gauntlet all being passed out between the Illuminati. This sparked the idea.
Once M-Day, with Xavier now powerless, Lee Jasper went to the man to "pick his brain" and he found a large amount of very interesting memories about the Infinity Gauntlet and the Infinty Gems. Quickly removing the memories from Xavier's mind, he then found the Gauntlet and the first of his gems, the blue Mind Gem.
This brought the attention of the remaining five Illuminati members, but Lee Jasper, now powered with the Mind Gem, quickly made them forget their purposes there, removed the information he needed, and made his way out as they argued about some ludicrous idea he thought would waste plenty of time - this whole Civil War thing. But that is a side story that I will not be dealing with in this "comic".
Jasper made his way to each of the Illuminati's strongholds, gathering the Infinity Gems and removing any trace or memory he was there from those who say him. It was upon finding the last gem, the Soul Gem, hidden in the middle of the frozen Antartic wasteland, that Uatu the Watcher made his presence known to the Master of Memory. He warned him that this could not be allowed, but Jasper would not listen and called upon all the gems. Then, breaking his oath as he so rarely did, Uatu intercepted the gems, throwing them into a vacuum of space.
Jasper, infuriated, left the Watcher there as he took to the astral plane. But this is not the end of the story, for nature abhors a vacuum, and existance relies on the power of those five remaining gems.
Each one found a new controller, bringing five men together with unfathomable power to safeguard and protect these powerful gems. This is their story.

The way I plan on doing this game is in the first issue, have each player make his character - already gem in mind, but not in game - with only 20 stones, plus 1 for each year the character is older than 20. Then, they will get the stones, find their incredible power, and be pulled together by the first of many Cosmic enemies they will face as they try to figure out the mysteries of their own pasts, the Gems, and find a way to stop Lee Jasper.
Any thoughts on this? I would love any help or ideas, or even just "hey this is cool" or "you suck, go die." But hopefully not both at the same time ...
