As far as I'm concerned, there is no precedent at all because I never read those books.
I'm not ignoring them. I just don't know them. That's also a difference. And not knowing them, I can't argue with comic book precedent willingly. That would require me to have read all books, which I haven't, and which I won't.
To put it simply: this Joker. Is. My version. According to what I know and what I read, and created using MURPG rules.
MURPG rules say that crazy characters have Mental Defense. I know the Joker is crazy. Therefore he has Mental Defense. That's how I done it.
You're free to not agree with that, in which case you just have to make your own.

So, whatever.
Next character will be my version of Tim Drake, the 3rd Robin.
And after that, one of my personnal favorites... Raven from Teen Titans.

Nice Joker dude, Though I'm surprised you didn't go with the Jack Napier name for him, I always thought that DC made that Cannon after the first Bats movie....

Thanks. I wasn't aware wether or not it was canon, especially when considering that everything else about Jack does not work with the comics Joker (lol), since the guy the joker was before was a rather nice, decent guy. I'll go with the idea that he forgot who he was exactly prior to "Joker-izing", as part of his insanity.

Nice Joker dude, Though I'm surprised you didn't go with the Jack Napier name for him, I always thought that DC made that Cannon after the first Bats movie.... Nope. In point of fact, Joker has NO definitive origin story. One that was meant to be definitive was presented in "The Killing Joke" but his full name is never actually revealed (he is referred to as "Jack" but its unknown whether thats his name or just something one of the other crooks calls him in one particular panel, as "Jack" is a common slang similar to "dude" in some regions). At any rate, his origin from Killing Joke has been retconned away so it makes no difference. Personally, I hope they NEVER reveal the history of the Joker. It always ruins the character.

Plus, two of his "nicknames" are "the Jack of Knaves" and "the Jack of all Crime". It is possible that they were referring to that as well.

This was before he became the Joker, when he was "The Red Hood"
