A lot of these are pretty bad, but what the hell. These are the characters I've either played or just written up for the fun of it.

Desmond Lucas Clay is the son of renowned entrepreneur Marcus Clay, which would’ve meant something before his transformation. It would’ve entitled him to the vast automobile empire his father had built from the ground up. It would’ve allowed him to be a part of America’s upper class, where his greatest worries would be how much the government had elected to tax him and whether or not he would be able to attend 3 banquets this week. And God knows it would’ve helped him with the ladies.
It would’ve meant all of that if he hadn’t mutated.
But now? Now it doesn’t mean a thing.
When it first started, Luke was able to hide it. It was just a few splotches here and there, tiny patches of golden flesh along his chest and arms, and if he wore long sleeves there was no way it could be detected. But it kept growing, overtaking his entire torso and legs down to the knees in a few days. Even then he could keep it hidden, so long as he didn’t bump into anything metal…but he couldn’t hide it forever. When it began to creep up his neck and his hair first started to fall out in large patches, he knew the charade was over.
His father disowned him as soon as he found out. Handed him over to social services that very day, in fact. Nevermind that Luke was ranked number 10 in his class of 217, kept from being number 1 only because of a medical condition. Nevermind that he was a nationally competitive cross-examination debater, first chair in the trombone section of the marching band, and lead scorer every single tournament in Academic Bowl. Nevermind that he was the old man’s SON. Luke was one of them. One of the mutants. And there was no place in Marcus Clay’s house for a mutant.
Sure Luke had his faults. He was arrogant to the point that he alienated most of his peers. He was so competitive that even minor arguments became full fledged debates in a matter of moments. And he never could grasp mathematical concepts very well, having to be tutored his entire life. But none of those had ever been a problem before…
What did he expect Luke to do? Create his own automobile empire? Looking like someone took creative license with the Tin Man? No. He just didn’t care. Ever since lung cancer claimed Luke’s mother, he and his dad had been really close, buddies to the end. Or so Luke had thought.
Trading his father and best friend for enhanced strength and durability was not part of Luke’s life plan. Nor was sitting in a foster home with cheap make-up on his face and dark clothing covering every inch of his shiny golden skin, pretending that he wasn’t a freak, waiting to be relocated so that he could resume his sophomore year. Anywhere would be better than the hell that is this relocation center...

Celeste has always been a tomboy. When she was but a baby, her father dressed her in camouflage feety pajamas and watched hunting and fishing shows with her on his knee. When she was 3, she had an intricate understanding of basketball, football, baseball…most sports as a matter of fact. She was practicing for track and field at 5. Which let her be first in the state her freshman year, nationally competitive as a sophomore, and nationally ranked by the 11th grade.
When she wasn’t training to be the best, Celeste was hunting with her father. The two of them were best friends, and had been for as long as she could remember. Her dad had taught her everything she knew, from how to take down a buck to what plays to run against the blitz on 3rd down.
That was before he died.
Now, Celeste and her mother try to fill the hole that was left in the family, to no avail. Her mother is a kind, hardworking woman, but she just doesn’t connect with Celeste the way that her dad did. Celeste loves her mother, but misses her dad so much…
So much that she couldn’t concentrate that day at the track meet. That when she reached the top of her arc vaulting, her body twisted in an awkward way, leaving her exposed neck underneath the full weight of her body in front of hundreds of shocked parents and schoolmates.
Celeste nearly died then.
And then, she was fine. Not 30 seconds later, she stood up, to the cheers of all of those people. They thought it was just fortune, a miracle they called it. No one thought she could be a mutant, not this late in her body’s development. Surely somebody would’ve caught it by now if she was….
When word got out, the same thing that happens to every mutant happened, and Celeste was relocated to Xavier’s School for the Gifted. Now, scared of what she’s become and alone in a new and unfamiliar environment, Celeste is just looking for a place to belong.

Story- I tried to keep it concise, and as a result, it ended up sounding stupid. Oh well.
In Tokyo there is a small group of thugs known as The Tatsu. The Dragon. This group has never been particularly powerful, but their iron grip on the poorest families of the city is unrelenting.
Sora was born to one such family, impoverished to the point that the first ten years of her life were lived in malnourishment. The Tatsu’s constant thieving of what little her family had certainly did not aid matters, and she came to loathe them with every fiber of her being. However, she was also deathly afraid of them, and had never dreamed of doing anything than meeting their every demand.
Then one night, as she and her younger brother slept, her father devised a plan to escape. He and several other Japanese peasants armed themselves, and when the collectors came they ambushed and killed the thugs. Energized by the idea that this was their chance, the peasants then hunted down the other members of the organization. Sora would never see her father again.
Hours later, the Tatsu came. They burst into the home and assaulted Sora’s mother, beating her within an inch of her life. Sora’s brother Kida rushed to help his mother, but his big sister held him back. She whispered to him that the thugs had not seen them, before going to investigate, peeping out through a crack in a doorway. She was just in time to watch the hit men put a bullet into her mother’s skull. Horrified, Sora’s brother stood, unable to move….until his big sister dragged him into a closet to hide. Over the next few hours, as she and her brother shared the all too little air, she came to hate that feeling, resulting in a lifelong fear of enclosed spaces.
Hours later, once the men had gone, Sora attempted to escape the city with Kida, but he refused to follow her. Thinking that he somehow could’ve aided his mother, Kida blamed Sora for her death, and he cursed her existence before disappearing into the coming morning.
Terrified and heartbroken, mourning the loss of her entire family, Sora sought shelter in a local temple.
17 years passed.
Sora had developed into a finally toned killing machine. Teaching herself martial arts based on the ancient texts of the temple and pushing her body well beyond its normal limitations with her training, Sora had became more than a woman.
It was then that she started to leave, to wipe out the Tatsu once and for all…
Before she left, the Buddhist monk who had taken her in took Sora aside. “My child, it is time for you to know.”
At this time, the monk revealed to Sora that it was the belief of the monks that Sora was the physical reincarnation of the martial arts master Sensei Tekeda, creator of the art of Daitō-ryū aiki-jūjutsu. This explained why her art had come to her with such ease, and why she was able to push her physical limitations to well beyond human norms.
Sora took the news in stride…Since the death of her parents, she had become stoic to surprises, almost to the point of neuroticism. This was not an indication of disbelief, as Sora’s faith was strong, and the monks had no reason to lie to her: but Sora had other things on her mind.
She confronted the Tatsu.
They never stood a chance.
Sora took her time. She broke every bone in their bodies, one by one. It took several days, but she made them go through so much agony that her loss paled in comparison. And she left them to their misery.
Sora’s faith has had a heavy impact on her life. Though her sense of personal justice outweighs the tenets of non-violence in her mind, she still finds the thought of killing someone appalling. She doesn’t want anyone to have to go through what she and her brother did at the loss of their mother. At the same time, Sora would do anything if she thought she could get her brother back. She loves him with all of her heart, and there is nothing that she desires more than his forgiveness and his approval.
Sora’s body can exceed human limitations. By concentrating, she can surpass a need for food or sleep for long periods of time, increase her awareness so much that her strikes to even more damage to her opponent’s body, or even cause her own endurance to sky rocket, making her flesh as tough as lead. All five of her senses have peaked, to the point that they are animalistic. She also has an innate knack for physical confrontation, the chi of her past incarnations. It is also believed by the Buddhists that if she dies, she will simply be reincarnated again.
Now, having fulfilled her thirst for ‘justice’, Sora employs herself to anyone who can pay her steadily rising fee. Good and evil mean very little to her anymore, but she has sworn to never end up like her parents.

Archery’s been my hobby for the past 200 years. And then there’s…well, and then there’s the Devil’s work, isn’t there? Healing myself and others without any equipment, summoning a bow from thin air, turning people into toads and newts and whatever else strikes my fancy at the time….I’m sure you know all about that. After all, it sure as hell wasn’t my family’s wealth that brought the attention of the Hellsing Organization, now was it?

(This one was particularly hard for me, because I built it for a Warhammer campaign without knowing any canon...)
Constantina Magnus Appearance: Dark green eyes watch knowingly from under the cowl of a rust colored robe that covers a fit and athletic frame. Strands of blood red hair cover a bionic eye, though this does nothing to stop the brightly glowing orb from coldly analyzing everything in the line of sight. Constantina Maximus’s undying need to learn is remarkable by even Cult Mechanicus standards. Throughout her military career, she has led more crews to incredible discoveries of STC designs than any other techpriest in the last century. Her cold demeanor is balanced by the concern she exhibits toward her squadron and the incredibly low mortality rate of her crew, who has more or less remained the same throughout her endeavors, even during the Battle of the Inspiration, where the dropship was attacked immediately upon landing in a hot excavation point. It was during this battle however that Tina’s left leg was crippled, when she went back into enemy fire after a fallen soldier. The arrogant woman refused to have her leg bionically repaired, insisting that she was fine, though it has been posited by psychoanalysts that perhaps Constantina accepts the pain as self-punishment for allowing her soldier to fall behind in the first place.
As soon as she heard the message of Tersius, knew that she would be pursuing the mysteries of the temple. The temptation of growing closer to completion of the Quest was too great, the promise of STC technology too strong for her to allow herself to stay behind.

Seline is part of the Greek organization known as SPECTRE, and has been since she was a little girl. They took her from her family at age 6, as they do with all of the promising young children growing up in Greece. Simple blood tests revealed her mutation before it had even occurred, and so her superiors had already begun to plot about her use to the organization by the time she was eleven years old. Of course, by this time she was already one of the most well trained hand to hand combatants in the world, having learned five different styles of martial arts and having practiced them 6 hours every day.
Through various training programs, each designed to turn the once timid little girl into a brutal killing machine, Seline became the most ruthless and efficient assassin in the organization, possibly in the world. As her abilities flourished under the tutelage of the secret organization, Seline also became increasingly arrogant, believing more in her abilities than in her comrades most of the time.
Then, when the Freedom to Information act passed and the order from the UN came to make all of their records public, SPECTRE changed Seline’s training completely. As she was their most powerful operative, she became something of a front-woman in the questionable organization’s attempt to salvage its public image. Bogged down by thousands of recorded and fully endorsed killings, it was a difficult job to keep the shady SPECTRE organization from going under, but she made it possible. Taking the codename Kismet and using her powers for the benefit of the entire human race by becoming something of a government sanctioned vigilante, she managed to give SPECTRE the name it has today, which is that of an international agent of espionage for the forces of good.

This operative has no need to attempt to justify and redeem an organization that doesn't deserve it. No, her only concern is her orders, which are taken accepted with faith few will ever know. Selene, like any good operative, knows that they must for the greater good… Selene is part of the Greek organization known as SPECTRE, and has been since she was a little girl. They took her from her family at age 6, as they do with all of the promising young children growing up in Greece. Of course, by this time she was already one of the most well trained hand-to-hand combatants in the world, having learned six different styles of martial arts and having practiced them for 8 hours every day. She is an asset in which SPECTRE has much invested, and for good reason. Through various training programs, each designed to turn the once timid little girl into a brutal killing machine, Selene became one of the most ruthless and efficient assassins in the organization, possibly in the world. As her abilities flourished under the tutelage of the secret organization, Selene also became increasingly arrogant, believing more in her abilities than in her comrades most of the time. How could she not ? Selene’s natural aptitude for combat and murder have allowed her to develop skills that are nearly unparalleled, and at only 15 years of age. Selene is consistently involved in assignments much bigger than her, but she never asks questions, never tries to learn more than she is supposed to. She is perfectly loyal to the organization, carries out vigilantism in their name without question. For now…

Her mother was on assignment in Australia when she was born, and so she has the advantage of being raised in multiple cultures. She spent most of her early years in Queensland while her parents photographed wildlife, but moved back to the States at the age of 3. Before she was 8, she had been to both Southeast Asia and Africa, and the sights of those beautiful countries had inspired her to write poetry and novels. Her first attempts were nothing special, worthy of being written in Crayon. But as she matured, so did her writing, and she had completed her first novel at 12. She’s far too scared to send it to a publisher, but likes to think that by the time she’s ready to make it on her own she’ll have the guts. She was home schooled for much of her preliminary education, as traveling the world didn’t lend itself to attending a school, but when she was old enough for high school her parents decided to settle down for awhile so that their daughter could have a more ‘normal’ life. They had no way of knowing how hard that would be. The stress of integrating into the high school was like none she had ever felt, and it drove her to pick up a smoking habit just to fit in. She found herself caving in to peer pressure in many ways, mostly harmless, just so that she wouldn’t be associated with the nerds. (Who were really much more like her than she was comfortable with.) But when her group of “friends” decided to pick on those nerds, she finally stood up to them, ostracizing herself from them completely and making her worry even more about her social standing. But she knew that she had done the right thing, that it wasn’t proper to make fun of others just for being different…Maybe it was the romantic in her, but she couldn’t stand being cruel, even if it meant falling down the social ladder. And then something happened that ensured that Justice would never have to worry about said ladder ever again. On the 4th of July, a fireworks accident started a small fire around her hands, a fire that should’ve badly burned her. But she pulled her hands away unscathed… Luckily, no one had seen. She investigated her ‘ability’ more in her free time, learning that she could not only resist the effects of fire, but control and manipulate the flames in any way she desired. Justice had no choice but to continue with her life as if there was nothing happening, as she was well aware of the growing animosity towards mutants. Soon, her major worry once again became making sure that she wasn’t tripped on her way across the lunchroom, and her powers faded into the background of her life…that is, until she received the letter from the Xavier Institute. The choice to accept the invitation was an easy one. Not only was she eager to have one more chance to properly integrate socially, but she was excited at the prospect of exercising the powers fate and nature had granted her. She would learn to use her powers for the betterment of mankind, and, hopefully, be able to find a place amongst true friends.

Kyra has had a relatively easy life…then again, how could it be hard when you’re probably the most convincing person on the planet? Throughout her childhood, her parents gave her everything she ever asked for. In her adult life, all she has to do is find someone to manipulate, be it a man who thinks he’s getting somewhere on a date, the boy who runs the valet service at the fancy resteraunt down the street, or her own father. Never once has she paid for a meal…only twice has she paid for an outfit.
But now, Kyra is growing bored with being handed everything on a silver platter, and wants something more. It had never occurred to her that her gift for persuasion was anything more than normal…until she started reading about superheroes in the paper. It was then that Kyra decided that she would use her powers to help one of these superhero teams in their fight against crime…and it just so happened that the first one to which she came wanted her to be their leader! What luck….

When she was in her teens, all of them had left to pursue various endeavors, some good, some not so good. Rather than be alone with her parents, Anna decided to seek her fortune in the city. Unfortunately, her fortune ended up being an apartment and a couple of ounces of heroin. Now all that matters to her is getting her next score…though she certainly wouldn’t complain if she got more….
The people of her past and present are numerous, but for the most part, not influential, with a couple of major exceptions:
She frequents several drug dealers, as Spike doesn’t always have her stuff, but he’s the most important person in her life, as pathetic as that may be. He’s a gruff individual, a requirement in his line of work, but very amicable. Also, he’s incredibly well versed in current events, including national and international politics.
When her roommate Jack isn’t stoned out of his mind, he’s a fun-loving sort. He owns a single deck of dirty, torn cards, and regularly insists that Anna play games with him. He, like Anna, doesn’t have any real resources, and so, like Anna, doesn’t have any real ambition outside of getting high. He has shown a keen interest in learning about the pigeons that gather outside the leaky apartment, for some reason that still escapes her.

Challenges -Haunted Past-1 -Mutant-3 -Depression-2 -Deadly Enemy: The Shadow King-3
For a short time, the powerful mutant known simply as Rogue lost her powers. It was during this time that she met a rather charming individual, with whom she felt an immediate connection. Unbeknownst to her, this man was at the time in the possession of the Shadow King, and it was from this union that Virginia came to be.
Rogue bravely decided to care for and raise the baby herself, shouldering the burden of single motherhood gladly. It was in her nature to desire closeness with others, and in the case of her daughter, this was especially true thanks to a growing maternal instinct. Though it was difficult once Rogue’s powers were restored to hang up the super heroine mantel, and even more difficult to care for a child without being able to touch her, Anna Marie was up to the task. Rogue not only provided for her daughter, but worked hard to make sure that by the time Gin was ready to go to school, there would be plenty of financial support for her. With love and as much hard work as anyone could expect, Rogue singlehandedly ensured that her daughter’s future would be a successful one.
All of that nearly went to hell on Gin’s 10th birthday, when the Shadow King decided to claim his ward. Her entire existence had been carefully plotted by the astral being, who wanted to use her body as a vessel and anchor in this world. Through endeavors of which Gin knows nothing, Rogue, along with the aid of Professor Charles Xavier and the X-men, managed to defeat the Shadow King and send him back to the astral plane.
At this point, Rogue realized that Gin would never be safe so long as they were near one another. It was too easy for the Shadow King to locate them, too easy for him to attack at any moment and steal Gin away. As long as she was near a member of the X-men, she was at risk. Only if she blended into the background would Gin be safe, and so Rogue made the hardest decision of her life: She turned Virginia over to social services.
This was the darkest time in Gin’s life. She was assigned to a family fairly quickly, a married couple living just a few miles outside of NYC. For the first few weeks, everything went fine. Young Gin hated not being able to see her mother, but she liked the Uptons well enough. They seemed like they genuinely cared for her, like they were happy take her in as their own.
But then came the first night that Mr. Upton came home with the drugs in his system. Then came the yelling, the swearing, the punches.
Then came the emergency room.
3 years passed with her in that house. She had endured all of the abuse he put her through. She had accepted that her foster mother was never going to do anything about it, only watch in shock and horror. And she had some to terms with her life overall, the constant layer of makeup covering the bruises, the teachers asking her every day how things were at home, the lying. The depression. She had accepted it as the way things had to be.
In her freshman year, she discovered competitive swimming. The water made everything else disappear, washed her of all of the pain that existed outside of the pool. She practiced every day, sometimes for hours on end, until she could compete on the varsity level. The pool became the only peace in her world.
Then, for the second time in Virginia’s life, the foundations of her life were shook. Mr. Upton came home with an ounce of cocaine in him, and the night was like any other. Only this time, when his knuckles touched poor Gin’s skin, his fingers fell off.
At the time, he was too high to fully appreciate what was happening. But as soon as he sobered up, things became very clear. By that time however, she was gone.
Virginia realized her life would never be the same. She tried time and time again to turn off her power, practicing on inanimate objects, hoping, praying that somehow she’d get it under control. Hoping that the last time she would ever feel a loving touch hadn’t been 4 years ago. These thoughts further complicated her already rampant mental condition, and she had to strive to fight off thoughts of suicide. In desperation, she applied to the Xavier Institute, hoping to use the money that her mother had worked so hard for to pay for a home, and hopefully, a solution.

(Fans of Forgotten Realms will like this one. This game was focused on demons from other realms gating to Earth and causing chaos, so I chose to play a Drider. I honestly don't know how accurate the description of the dimension is. ) Phaere Dyrr of the Demonweb Pits The Demonweb Pits- The Demonweb Pits is a dimension filled with impassable terrain, deep, deep chasms and sheer cliff faces that would prevent any mortal from scaling them. Over all of this, magma flows in torrents, sustained by the incredible heat of the dimension This necessitates that any living creatures stay as far away from the ground as possible, which is why all of the life forms of this plane either fly or traverse the series of intricate webs that remains suspended over the ground. Most plant-life is fungal in nature, growing in what little fertile ground there is or else on the ceiling of the many caverns. Animals on the dimension are 60% birds, flying high above the nigh unbearable heat. This dimension is also inhabited by creatures known as Drider, creatures with the upper bodies of dark skinned humans and the lower bodies of giant spiders. These Drider are the only civilized species on the dimension, having only spiders, birds, and the occasional seyat (a small rodent who feasted mainly on the clothing of the Drider), to call neighbors. The Drider live in intricate constructs of webbing, in entire cities composed of the stuff. This is the one thing on which Drider will work together: the construction and maintenance of their city. In all other things, each Drider is the enemy of his or her neighbor. The society is very competitive, and this is mostly due to a major lack of resources. Most of the water in the dimension is controlled by the king and priests, and hunting mostly consists of hoping that a bird doesn’t catch a glimpse of one’s web in time… Like all species, the Drider had all walks of life in their society. There were the lower classes, the workers and artisans. The middle classes, mostly merchants and entertainers. And then there was the upper classes, the priests, sages, kings, and magicians. Phaere was one such Drider, high priestess of the Demonweb Pits, its most powerful inhabitant and leader from behind the throne for over 50 years. Or at least, she had been in that position of power. A schism recently shook the very foundations of the church. Phaere's brother Daenrae led a heretical following into the temple and stripped it of all it's symbols. The ensuing revolution saw Phaere cast out of the city of Yutsai and into the surrounding caverns with nothing more than a holy symbol and the clothing on her back. But Phaere is rather resourceful, and when combined with the powers afforded to her by the dark and primeval being she worships, that resourcefulness was more than sufficient to keep Phaere alive. Now, she exists as an outcast, living on what she can hunt in the caverns. She has managed to find a freshwater stream by which she lives out of pure need, and also set up a small fungi farm, using her ever faithful 8-legged minions to aid her. And with nothing to do beside live and plot her revenge, it won’t be long before Phaere has returned to her former glory… Like all Drider, Phaere has increased strength and durability and the powers her spider-like body gives her, combined with a natural healing rate much more advanced than our own. Unlike her brethren, she has the god-given ability to command Black Widow spiders, and to summon them from anywhere. He wears a long trench coat, hat, gloves, and dark glasses to hide it, but at any distance shorter than a few yards, this is ineffective Haunted Past-3w- Trained in Weapon X, beaten and abused every day for 20 years, no memory
Atari doesn’t have any memory of his childhood, a side effect of the mental preparations of the Weapon X program. All he can remember about what happened to him as a youth is that he grew up in a cell, where he was repeatedly beaten, shot, stabbed, ignited, and otherwise abused by the men charged with guarding him. Before his mutation had progressed as far as it has now, and he still had flesh to burn that is. Now, he’s become so heavily mutated that no one could even come close to performing such an action, as his body has completely turned to dust.
Weapon X trained him to be a ruthless killer, brutally efficient, with an overwhelming rate of success in his assignments. That his body was composed of dust and reconstituted itself after any degree of punishment was the main reason for this, as bullets did nothing but slow him down briefly. His mutation did lend itself to other things as well, not the least of which was infiltration. Even the smallest keyhole is a portal into the next room to Dust Mite.
Atari’s main weakness is his hubris. After having so many successes in the field, it’s difficult for him to face that there’s something that he might not be able to accomplish. This is a fact that was exploited many times when he was in captivity, much to the amusement of his superiors, who loved to laugh at the poor mutant.
The details of his escape aren’t really clear to him. All he can remember about that night is the explosion, the sense that his body was being ripped to shreds, only to come back together of course. And as soon as his feet had formed, he had started to run, and he didn’t look back.

Challenges-8w Conflicting Interests (Duties to Asgard versus love for the humans) -3w Inhuman Appearance-2-Godlike beauty, readily apparent that she’s not human, cannot be conventionally hidden Deadly Enemy: Loki-3-The trickster god isn’t keen on allies of his archenemy.
Being the entity destined to bring all sentient life to the next level of evolution is not an easy job. Tarene was born with her fate predetermined, a sorcerer from a distant planet having long ago predicted that she was to best the Destroyer in battle, and was told of this fate at a young age. She sought the help of Thor and Orikal, and together they defeated him, thanks to Tarene’s limitless cosmic powers.
From then on, Tarene aided Thor in his adventures. For a long time, this worked, but in a battle with Thanos, the unthinkable happened, and Tarene had to sacrifice nearly all of her limitless power, channeling it into Thor so that he was able to banish the monstrosity from this reality for good. Now severely weakened, Tarene returned to Midgard, where she thought she might live a normal life.
Though they weren’t nearly as powerful as her cosmic abilities, Odin graced Tarene with abilities mimicking those of Thor, though her weakened frame couldn’t contain such power as wielded by the God of Thunder himself.
A normal life was not destined to be, however. Tarene shares Thor’s love of humanity, and has more than once found herself defending it from whatever might harm it. Odin also summons her to Asgard on occasion, both for the purpose of combating extraplanar threats and for tutelage under Thor to better utilize the grand powers with which Odin blessed her. This education is vitally important, as only when she returns to her former power can she become the entity of progression that she is destined to be.
Now that Thor has been struck down however, Tarene has a new duty: to raise Mjolnir and join the Avengers in his stead.
