Magic as it turns out is expensive . . . does anyone have the capacity to make 40 w +10 Challenges Magicians OR should a person just deal w/ 50+ w ?!

At AN +2 it really isn't bad, if you take the INT Modifier it does get more expensive, but for 9w you are looking at an AN of 6, or 1 + Int. This can easily be your main power as it is just as versatile or more so than most masteries.
OR
Take a low MoM number but a decent path, like Witchcraft, with spells like good luck, bad luck, and hex spheres, even a low AN can make for a decent character. I am playing a 20+5 witch in a fantasy game and I have yet to feel underpowered.
The trap I think people fall into is trying to get a few of the paths, at AN +2 getting a hand full of paths adds up very quickly.

Trust me- for what its worth, Magic is the cheapest action available. In both ways.

Trust me- for what its worth, Magic is the cheapest action available. In both ways. Yep. If you want all of the various options, magic will cost you, but you can start with them at low ANs and work them up, and basically any branch of Sorcery other than Voodoo will put you light years ahead of the competition. The only action I can think of that comes close in terms of "bang for the buck" is Blasting.
