Well I do like comments about my stuff... though interesting.. is sort of... ummmmm, well I guess uh, thank you? It is meant to be interesting. I've been gaming off and on in mostly diceless fashions since just before Amber came out. Back in high school and the strategic methods are basically me trying to turn improvisational ideas into a more concrete form and give people a language to describe "how" they do things in somewhat realistic ways and still get a gaming resolution out of the deal... I wrote the incarnation up for MURPG because mention was made on one of the mailing lists of introducing dice to the game (inorder to shake things up) and I was starting to get hives at the idea Lancelot / Garthanos Author of A Captains Shield of Strategic Modifiers for MURPG

Lol. I left it open ended so people can explore without bias.
I never post anything in here unless I think its worth a look in my humble opinion. Great work! And welcome.

A very interesting (there's that word again, lol) read. Only flaw I found is that I don't believe Charge Object has an Agility Bonus. Though perhaps Gambit's does in his write-up profile, but the standard version of the action does not.
I believe I understand the concept of the cards and strategies, but doubt I'd employ them in my own games. But perhaps someone (Garthanos?) could run a simple game or brawl on here to perhaps show them in action to us?

The example on the page does not really say, what strategy Blob and Gambit are using. I guess both are proactive. A list of actions and strategies would also help. Or, as Patrel stated, a complex example to show the benefits of the shield.

I probably should actually include a descriptive or three for "strategic" example of the Blob / Gambit conflict going one direction and another with it going for the other. Maybe you folks can help me refine it. (yes after I get over the jitters it would be very cool to do some brawling) "Remie can't think of a reason to stand toe to toe decides to pretend to dash towards a stair well but switches to a leap deeper down the alley, intending to send one card streaking past Blobs face fast as a distraction hoping to rely on blob dodging into the second card he sends on the other side (puts down a deceptive card for both attack and defense).... Blobs predicts Gambit being - "tricksy" and figures he's gonna "make damn sure" he isnt tricked and crush the git (Blobs version of analytical -honest) , sure enough it pans off big time and he ignores the stagger step towards the stair well, and gets a +2 on attack and yes on his effective speed. (NOTE In this example I am using the same strategy for escape as defense and for maintaining reach for attack) Blob shouts "Not this time!" as the cards are revealed, strategy makes all the difference and Gambit gets pounded. OR closer to the original incident. "Blob has heard this character is very tricky and expecting a lot of feints and false openings, decides to lead with a direct attack..and let his instincts drive any defenses, both are his favorites.... Gambit figures this hunk of flotsam is going to do something stupid errrr I mean predictable, and chooses to draw back in response when he sees the brute close and send a wild flurry of charged cards In the above Gambits attack strategy is not particularly advantaged against Blobs defensive flailing but his defensive one is responsive giving him a bonus of 2 on his disengagement. In this example I am giving the same strategy for Gambits withdrawal move as his defense strategy." Since gambits withdrawal works Attack and Defense are never compared as in the standard book example. The cards imply that internal monologue you see in a lot of comics

Well, that site cleared a lot of things up for me in the sense of situational modifiers and combat, so thanks to lance for that.
As far as the agi bonus to Gambit's charge object, according to the book he does in fact have that option. I only assume that this is to reflect the accuracy and speed at which gambit throws his charged objects, thus increasing their ability to hit and damage.
