ozbot.typepad.com/spideyguide/We would like to officially announce the third Character Pak contest, which begins today. To make sure everyone understands how the contest works, here is a recap of the rules: The upcoming Character Pak will include 12 characters (Moon Knight through Rhino). During the contest, you will have a chance to guess at naming all 12 characters that will be included in the Pak (including the two which we just gave to you). The names are alphabetical. The one who comes the closest to naming all 12 characters will win the contest. In the case of ties, multiple prizes will be awarded. Now... what do you get for winning? The winner of each Character Pak contest will receive a free CD ROM with all of the available downloads, including 8 bonus characters (4 heroes and 4 villains... well actually 1 of them it just depends on what kind of mood he's in that particular day) that did not make the official cut. These CD's will be awarded upon completion of "Spider-Man's Guide to New York." We are still waiting for Andrew and Beacon to contact us for information on recieving their prizes from past contests. If either of you read this post, please contact us via a PM or email at Tomsalm@gmail.com. Good Luck, and check back for a upcomming annoucnement as to when the contest will end. - The Unofficial Spider-Man Roster Book Development Team ozbot.typepad.com/spideyguide/

Not that I have any major reason to enter, because I've already won a contest, but I just feel like getting things started by throwing out some guesses.

I'm just going to throw a couple of wild guesses. What the heck! Hmm... I doubt that Ox will be among this lot if Fancy Dan and Montana aren't. I'm saying... Molten Man? If Ezekiel is on the list, then I reckon that Morlun is on the list. Puma and Nocturne are sort of intertwined so I'm going to say that you can't have one without the other. Professor Stromm? Personally, I'd have chosen him over Nocturne or Puma, but then I'm a very biased and twisted individual. But then you guys might be sneaky and file Stromm under 'S'. Queen? Well, you included Arana and she's a new character. Marvel have been plugging their new characters for all they're worth, so I say yes.
Ah, I'll put in Nocturne and Puma after all. I don't know if they have a big enough reputation to make it into the book, but it's got to be worth a shot.

Right from Madame Web to Moon Knight? I was hoping for Manwolf and Molten Man. I suppose I can hold onto hope that John and Mark are in some “friends and family team” or something in the GM section.
This list is more of a wishful thinking thing (like my first one) than a guess as to who’ll be on this one (it isn’t like I can win again anyway). Still, I tried to use at least some logic here. For example, we all know the people who worked on this thing have been at it for a long time so I assume that, during the planning stages, the Purple Man was still considered by most to be just an obscure DD villain (possibly more so than the Jester and certainly more so than Gladiator, who didn’t make the cut).instead of the big name that he’s become because of Alias, New Avengers, and New Thunderbolts.
Moon Knight Morbius Morlun Mysterio Namor Osnick, Ollie (aka Spider-Kid aka Steel Spider) Owl Painter Prowler Professor Power Puma Rhino
I figure the first three of the ten mystery characters are givens (Morbius, Morlun, & Mysterio). Namor really doesn’t fit but he should have been in the core book so I’m justifying it by pointing out that Oracle industries is in NYC. Ollie would have been listed under one of his codenames (With Frog-Man and Toad already in we have to round out the trio of Misfits) but I put him in because I didn’t have enough dead weight to drop to make room for all four Power kids. Owl makes a nice versatile enemy in any street level campaign since he can be anything from a major crime boss to a random villain for the players to fight. Painter’s there partly because I have a soft spot for the character (though he’s not nearly as cool a bug-man as Swarm) and partially because “bring paintings to life” is just begging to be made into an action. Prowler and Puma are there because there’s no point in doing a Spider-Man book if the Outlaws are going to be excluded. Professor Power is in there because I have kind of a soft spot for him too (some of my first comics were issues of Marvel Tales reprinting his MTU appearances) and I needed to fill some space while trying to stay original and not just using the same old standbys that everyone else has already considered.
Hmm, maybe I SHOULD have gone with Power Pack.

Damn I wish I had thought of Namor or Red Skull!
But anyway, is there any date set the next 12 characters will be available?
Keep up the good work!

I'm gonna guess that we'll see some New Warriors in there. I'm not a great fan of them, but they did play a big role on the streets of NYC for a time.

ozbot.typepad.com/spideyguide/Good luck to everyone who has entered the contest so far... I must say that I have enjoyed reviewing your guesses and (as stated before) your logic. We have decided that the last day of this contest will be this upcoming Saturday at midnight (eastern time zone). We are planning on releasing the third character pak later on in the month. We will announce the exact release date as soon as we can be sure of a completion date for the pak. - The Unofficial Spider-Man Roster Book Development Team ozbot.typepad.com/spideyguide/
