-Respected Status (Lyn Carter is a well-known paranormal investigator and huntress, known especially for her dedication at getting the job done. Hers is one of the names which come up the most often when people ask or look around for help when it is obvious the police, and even some superheroes, simply cannot help with 'unusual situations'.)

STORY: Evelyn Carter has never had an easy life. She lost her father when she was barely old enough to walk, a violent car accident which left a deep scar in the heart of her mother. Worse still, the young girl was still able to see him around once in a while. And not only him, but others like him, too. No one else but her could see them, but she did.
When she was 8, she saw something she shouldn't have. A man passed her and her mother, Laura Carter, by on the street, looking normal to anyone else. But the young girl could see his eyes, jet black, inhumane, evil. The man had something inside him, and she had seen it. And he didn't like it... not one bit. He came after them that night. Her beloved mother heard a noise, and when she came to check on her, she found the man strangling her daughter to death. She saw his black eyes too.
It was the last time Lyn saw her mother alive. She does not recall what happened next that night, only that her house burned down, that she survived somehow, and that no one ever saw that man nor her mother ever again. She was raised by her grandfather from then on - an old, eccentric monster hunter - who taught her everything he knew, and who trained her hard to become a huntress too. Right up until he passed away of old age, leaving all he had left to her.
Cut to modern day. Lyn Carter is a tough-as-nails huntress posing as a private investigator when no 'unusual case' comes up. She specializes in ghosts, but has had the occasional run-in with vampires, werewolves, skinwalkers, and even a couple demons once or twice. She ended up in the hospital a few times, but she's still kicking. She now knows the man who killed her mother was possessed by a demon. She remembers the distinctive smell of sulfur around him, and the completely black eyes was a sure way to tell. She also learned her ability to perceive the dead, demons and supernaturals is known among occult circles as 'the Sight', although she has never really tried to do or learn more with it.
For now, she's satisfied with fighting the good fight, helping people, hunting things. The process is simple. Find something weird going on somewhere, go there, investigate, find out what you're dealing with, find out how to kill it, and deal with it. The staying alive part is the hardest, but so far, she managed.
