NEW MODIFIERS
Cheat Codes
CL=MN+8
CL=MN+8
DESCRIPTION
This modifier is based upon a Disgaea classic: the Cheat Shop, which basically allows one to modify various attributes of the game, lowering some while increasing others in return im order to gain various benefits at the cost of some penalties. Each MN allows for up to a 10% reduction, of up to MN of the factors (rounded up), which can then be redistributed to any other factors at will. For example, with MN 3, one could lower, say, their Strength, Energy Regen per panel and Passive Defenses by 30%, rounded up, and would then have a total of 90% increase they could add to any factor(s); for example +90% to LoEs gained; or +50% to Money and +40% to their Limit Gauge, and so on. The added percentages may exceed 100% on any one factor, but unsurprisingly, no factor may be reduced by more than 100%.
NOTE: Cheat Codes are applied at the beginning of an issue and may not be changed for the rest of it in order to be effective; one could not, say, lower three of their factors in the last couple of pages to get a LoEs increase as the end of the issue comes up.
Available Factors include the following:
- Abilities (Each Ability counts as a different factor; they are reduced or increased separately. NOTE: Abilities cannot be reduced below 1 AN by this modifier, so penalties reducing them to below 1 cannot be taken.)
- Actions (Each Action counts as a different factor; they are reduced or increased separately.)
- Damage (Damage dealt by the user, regardless of type or effect.)
- Energy Regeneration (Per panel.)
- Limit Gauge (Increases or decreases the amount by which a Limit Gauge increases when wounded or using the 'Aura' spell; Requires the Limit Break modifier to use.)
- Lines of Experience (LoEs gained per issue, or during an issue. Does not apply to bonus Holiday LoEs/White Stones, or White Stones gained from Challenges, though may apply to White stones issued for other reasons at GM's discretion.)
- Max Energy (One's total maximum Energy.)
- Max Health (One's total maximum Health in white stones.)
- Money (How much money is gained at the end of an issue based on Wealth MN; does not apply to monthly gains.)
- Passive Defenses (Each passive Defense counts as a different factor; they are reduced or increased separately. NOTE: Only primary defenses, such as Toughness, Ref.Dodge, Energy Defense, Mental Defense and Magical Defense may be altered so. 'Secondary' defenses - say, Cold Defense, or Entanglement Resistance, are simply also affected by their corresponding Primary defense alterations if any, but do not provide additional percentages on their own.)
- Power Level (The modifier's MN and everything changing it implies.)
- Skill Points (Max Skill Points; Requires Skill Point System advantage on Close Combat.)
- Skill Points Regen (Skill Points regenerated per panel; Requires Skill Point Sytem advantage.)
- Tiers (May only be lowered, not boosted.)
- Other factors (At GM's discretion) (If other factors are not covered here for a given game but would make sense - or players suggest them and the GM agrees - they could be added to the list as well. Say, AP for Materias in a Final Fantasy game, and the like.)
Note that lowering Durability or Intelligence, as appropriate, does not change Energy or Health; those are separate factors. All other effects such a penalty bring do apply, however.
OPTIONS
- True Cheater I+ (+1 CL per rank; where each rank costs a +1 increase per base 10% one can add to any factor without lowering anything. Rank I is +10%, II is +20%, and so on.)
COMMENTS
A fun modifier from a quirky series known for its ridiculous power-leveling and min-maxing mechanics. Needless to say, this modifier may only be taken with the GM's blessing, as it could very well unbalance a game if used to excess or unreasonable levels... which may be fine and dandy with some games and/or some GMs, because sometimes, balance is not the only way to have fun.
Rules for Modifier Box
- Lowers up to MN Factors by up to 10% per MN
- Redistribute accumulated percentage among other factors
- Cheat Codes are applied at the beginning of an issue and may not be changed afterwards until its end
- (List options)
- (List Active Cheat Codes visibly on CAD for easy reference by GM)
EXAMPLE
The one and only Badass Overlord Zetta has the Cheat Codes modifier at MN 6 with the True Cheater option at Rank X (10), represented by a 'Cheat Shop' in his home base (with a -1 CL disadvantage for being tied to a location; Zetta needs to physically return there to change his cheats). As a new issue is starting, Zetta could lower up to 6 Factors (equal to his MN) by 60% (10% per MN), and then redistribute the resulting percentage as he pleases among other factors.
Since he's ridiculously powerful anyway, and knows he's only supposed to be fighting small fries in the near future - the GM claimed so anyway - Zetta decides to lower his Agility, Speed, Max Health and Energy Regeneration by 30% each, and his Limit Gauge and Magical Defense by the full 60%. In total, this gives him (30% x 4) + (60% x2) = 240% to play around with, but he also has +100% from his True Cheater advantage, bringing it up to 340%. Zetta decides to split it with a 120% boost to LoEs gained, 120% boost to money gained, and 100% boost to damage dealt.
