This version of Thanos comes in lower than Thor’s maximum damage, but with a higher defense and longer lasting. Technically Thor is more powerful, but would still lose in a fight. In addition almost everybody forgets his Invented forcefield and teleportation devices that he always has built into his belt. Most people also forget that his wacky looking shoulder armor is also an Invention that allows him to utilize large quantities of Cosmic Energy, as he does not have true Power Cosmic.
In Infinity Quest he uses his force field against Champion, enraging him. Later in The End series he uses three of them to keep himself from being killed by his own created Galactus/Thanos hybrid. His teleportation technology is not galactic spanning, but through his various ships he can get almost anywhere.

Instead of limited power cosmic i would make it a force blast and have the energy decripter be be cosmic energy. I would keep combines with close combat though. He just doesnt seem to have the away of options that a true weilder would have.

The reason I went with the Limited version is because the Cosmic Power wielders (Thanos, Surfer) often power up their fists and then strike. Jack-of-Hearts also does the glowing fist thing and he uses a Mastery to do that. Force Blast users, in the comics, just don't ever seem to power up for close combat. Thanos has also shown, in the comics, that he can channel and manipulate cosmic energy (speficly the Heart of the Universe in the End series).

true but then other guys liek Mrs marvel and others like havoc and such have thrown a powerd up fist in the past. If you got the stones to buy the ability to combine it with close combat then why not right. But definetly a killer write up eather way. I mean if you check out his classic marvel write up its preatty scarry.

An impressive Thanos workup (I'd forgotten that he was outside of fate.... Does that make him a Nexus being for the mainstream marvel universe? For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, it was a concept that was introduced in the What If?! Series back in the eighties and early nineties where almost everyone had a preordained destiny, except a certain few. These few, called Nexus Beings could choose their own fate, and through that fate shape their very reality.)

I don't think I have a complaint actually about this... but then again, Thanos is my third favorite marvel villain behind Doom and Kang, (actually Kang and he are tied.... but hey.) , and I think you worked him up quite nicely.

My only thing is this...
1. He's not immune to reality distortion. Remember in the Infinity Gauntlet? He was just as twisted once the battle between Magus and Adam Warlock began as everyone else.
2. If I'm not mistaken, I think he might have Cosmic Awareness.... I could be wrong though.

1. Nobody has any kind of immunity vs the Infinity Gauntlet. Other than such awsomely powerful effects (Cosmic Cube, Reality Gem, etc) he has show himself extremely resistant to such effects. For Infinity Crusade Warlock finds him in some kind of Reality distortion, created by the Reality Gem ala The Goddess. Warlock barely makes it to Thanos, who seems fine, just stuck in a whirlpool without a means to get out.

2. I think I will add Cosmic Prescience (ie not Awareness per se, but he does have a knack of knowing long before most others of when there is a danger to reality.

God every tiem i think of thanos i picture him locking an energized punch with Mjollnir. Thanos is cool.

I'm not familiar with Thanos but it does seem that you went more with someone who built their powers up rather than just a bunch of high Action Numbers and Ability Scores. Everyone seems to believe that people like thanos need 18 strength rather than thinking about what he has that grants him that.

I'm in agreement with PopeMan. My favorite thing about this write-up is that he's not retardedly powerful. He looks like a Titanian Eternal whose been gathering power for many years, which is all Thanos ever was.

Go down a few threads and you can read my write up for Galactus in the thread started by Cain. It is a bit like this write up, in that nothing is over 10 naturally, but powers, and abilities stack to give the Big-G the massive power he has.

Aye I've seen the Galactus write-up, and felt similarly relieved to see a reasonable write-up after so many failed attempts by others. It's not that other people don't know how to make characters, but they seem to miss important aspects of how the characters in the books were presented. As you mentioned, not having stats above 10 is just one of the things the books avoided doing.

Sorry, I should've said "resting" stats. There's other characters in the books who can exceed 10 in different stats. The Collector can have 12 strength at will, and Maestro starts with 11 strength. My point was that no one but Maestro has a resting stat above 10.
