Waking Up
The small boat approached the Isle of Lemnos, carrying the same cargo it carried year in and year out; tourists. The island was close enough to mainland Greece for sight-seeing, yet sufficiently remote to promote a feeling of exclusivity. Sandals and Beaches had each constructed resorts here; with governmental permission, of course. The parts of the island not used by these resorts were a bit different; frequently embroiled in political turmoil that occasionally boiled over into outright violence.
Joshua didn't even remember entering the contest that he'd won to land himself here, but it was a welcome distraction. Back in the States, things were starting to get a bit strained. His newfound powers were very real; he'd tested them enough to be sure. But he couldn't be sure if the rest of what he'd experienced was, at all. Was he simply going crazy? Was he one of those psychics he'd read about in so many stories, being driven mad by his own powers? Paranoia was creeping in. Whenever he saw a Priest of the Greek Orthodox Church, he wondered if they suspected. At least he still had enough presence of mind to know it was paranoia, however, and that meant something.
Yes... this vacation was going to be good for him. A woman in a bikini standing next to him smiled at him. "You going to be spending much time off the island, seeing the mainland? I'm not much of a history buff... I just can't wait to get at all the food and booze!"
*****************************************************
The "throne" of Lemnos wasn't a throne in the traditional sense. Years ago, Roy's Father had locked up the ancient throne of the island because it lacked the egalitarian image he was trying to portray. What Roy currently sat in could best be described as a portable comfy chair. He was here as his Father's emissary, so he got to bring the throne.
The fact that his Father had obligated himself (and now, Roy) to occasionally attend these "Meet and Greet" situations as part of their agreement with the American tourism companies was just another sign of his declining mental faculties. Roy was certain he had better things to do. Looking out at the sea; the same sea he'd stared at since he was a boy, he couldn't help but feel something was amiss. Things seemed calm enough, but there was definitely something... not quite right.

Lemnos was once a proud and unspoiled island nation, thriving on centuries of established history and culture. Outside influence was neither needed nor desired. But, in this century, as the world economy declines, Lemnos' King has opened her borders to a most disgusting venture - tourism.
Out of his traditional royal garb and without the sword of his station, Roy, Prince of Lemnos, sits on the beach wearing white linen and sandals. If the regal insignia stamped upon his fine clothes were not enough to identify him, his shockingly red hair and large piercing green eyes were known the world over. Roy had nearly become a celebrity what with his father's new ad campaign - his face was plastered all over Lemnos Airlines and in every travel magazine. It was bordering on the ridiculous.
He was here to "meet and greet" or so his father said, but Roy hadn't said a word to a single tourist that entered the island. Perhaps it was just as clear to all of them that he didn't want to be there. Maybe there was just enough of Hephaestus' fire in his glare to keep the foreigners at bay.
There was work to be done in the ruined city Ifestia in the north. Unrest has built in the area, and even now splinter groups fester in the wild places. Dark magicians, religious extremists, political opportunists. Roy's father has been blind to these rising dangers, but Roy knows. Archaeologists have uncovered temples in the ruins hinting at demon worship, but recently digging has been difficult at best.
Roy pressed fingers to his forehead and massaged his brow and temples. Much more of this and his young face would become marred with wrinkles.

Joshua smiled. Though his preaching focused on Zeus, he had a healthy respect for all the Gods. "Dionysus lives in your heart I see." He says with a smile. "But yes, I'll be making a pilgrimage to the mainland for a short while... but, I too... can't wait to feel the weight of the world shirk off my shoulders."
He was not in his usual robes, and garb, but a Hawaiian shirt and khaki shorts. The only thing that told anyone of his priestly duties was the holy symbol around his neck, which was platinum and (making shit up here..) reserved for clergy only. He felt the urge to use his abilities, and decided to peer along this girl's fate line. See if she really would have fun, and if not, perhaps give her some friendly advice to help her avoid a potential pitfall.
Action: 5 stones in Clairvoyance to peer at the entirety of this girl's stay on the Island, and make sure she has fun. She seems like a nice girl.

Delphi peered into the fate of the woman... and immediately wished he hadn't. The images weren't flawless, but there was terror, and the smell of blood. And it was coming... now! As the boat touched the beach and Roy looked on, the water began to roil and bubble, sending foam and froth in all directions. Suddenly, a small army of green-fleshed, walking on legs as shaky as a man's were at sea. Their heads were those of piranha, all large round eyes and rows of misshapen, deadly teeth. There was intelligence in the eyes, but not much. One of them, snarling and creaking, wielded a sword and shield seemingly made of coral, but the rest launched the assault with nothing but teeth and large, horrible claws...

"Everyone off the beach!!" Roy leapt to his feet knocking his "throne" to the sand, "Get into the city! The Royal Guard will protect you!"
As the bathing suited masses fled in terror from the amphibious monsters assaulting the beach, Roy wished he were better prepared for battle. Embers swirled around Roy's hand and with a gesture a wall of flame stretched across the beach in between the fleeing sightseers and the sea creatures. This was just the situation Prometheus had stolen Hephaestus' fire for, and Roy couldn't think of a cause worthier than protecting his kingdom's people to employ his new gift. The control was instinctive and the creation of the flame was surprisingly fluid. As if he was using up his body's own heat, Roy noticed that his toes suddenly felt cold.
"Poseidon be damned for bringing this unholy mess upon Lemnos," Roy clenched his fists as he turned his attention to the creature that seemed to be their leader, "You are invading a sovereign nation! I give you one chance, now, to draw your soldiers back and retreat, and to never return. Continue with this transgression on Lemnos soil and my retribution will know no bounds!"

Not good... Joshua thought to himself. Though he was the heir of Prometheus... that power didn't give him anything to fight with but his wits. "We must leave young lady..." He says to the girl who'd been speaking to him before. "I think I might be able to guide us with the blessing of Zeus..." More like Prometheus' foresight.... Looking a short time into the future, and keeping one eye there, and comparing it to his eyes here, he attempted to move them in the safest possible route towards safety. The wall of fire that sprang up bothered him however... Was there another abomination here? Or another like himself... "Perhaps you should tell me your name. I'm Joshua... Joshua Kane, you can call me Josh."
Action: 1 stone in Clairvoyance to peer 1 panel into the future, and use that to guide myself and this girl to safety. Action: 5 stones in Close Combat shifted to Defense, with the express purpose of defending both of us from attack.
Defense: 5 stones (With Specialty in Self Defense)

Roy called out to the creatures, but there was no sign of comprehension in their alien features. Instead, they continued to jabber at one another in their stomach-churning tongue of raspy growls. Those tourists who weren't fast enough were viciously cut down with claws, and then fallen upon by the fish-beasts, who devoured them eagerly.
Then a wall of flame sprang up, blocking their path further onto the island.
Trapped on the ocean-side of the fiery wall, Delphi grabbed the girl and made like a hero, pulling her away from the attacking creatures. He glanced into the future...
The creatures, whatever they were, continued the attack, but their focus seemed on getting further up the beach, toward the core of the island. They were seeking. Seeking something. Their leader conjured a wall of ocean water to bring down the wall of fire that had somehow sprung up, but before Delphi could see any more, he felt a stabbing pain in his gut. A twisting, horrible pain that would linger into infinity even as it brought death ever closer. Someone... the woman he was "rescuing"... had stabbed him in the stomach with a razor sharp piece of coral!
<<OOC: You are one lucky man. If you hadn't peered into the future, I had you LOL>>

Joshua's eyes went wide. "Why..." He began to say, but stepped back from the girl. He couldn't believe that the nice girl he was trying to save was going to stab him to death... He moved with her a bit further, but at the moment she was going to stab him, he grasps her hand and says again "Why... You had to know I knew what you were going to do... so why go through with it?" He asks...
Action: 5 stones into Close Combat (Hand to Hand specialty) to catch her hand before it impales me basically shifted to Defense Action: 1 stone to keep the Clairvoyance going and keep myself in both time periods.
Defense: 5 stones (Plus maybe a bonus for foreknowledge?)

By the Gods there's still civilians in there! Roy's mind shouted to itself as he willed the wall of fire to fall even as it was squelched by his opponent's own summoned water.
"You there! You must get to safety! I'll hold them here!" he cried.
He dashed in between them and the advancing creatures and his mind raced over what he could do. He couldn't risk the others' safety by unfurling the full might of his divine fire, but he had to do something to halt these monsters on the beach. He could think of but one thing to do, Cut off the head, kill the beast. Unless it's a Hydra, of course. Fire began to swirl around his clenched fists and radiate from his eyes as he hoped his gamble would pay off.
"You're going to regret testing me, monster!"

Roy came forward, challenging the leader of the creatures, who stalked toward Roy without a hint of recognition in its fish-like eyes.
Meanwhile, Delphi found himself confronted by a wildly grinning, knife-wielding woman. "You give us too much credit... there's no way we could know what power would be bestowed to any one Promethean. Even Prometheus couldn't have guessed at that! But the gods have declared war on you all, and on humanity until the humans see the futility of trying to protect you from us."

Joshua's eyes went wide. The Gods had... Declared war? Because Humanity once again had the ability to defend itself... Would he be the most hunted, as Prometheus' heir? "Why would the Gods do that? Even if our powers were given to us by Prometheus, they still have to realize that we don't mean the Gods any harm... Look at me!" He says using his free hand to gesture, pointing to his chest. "I declare the supremacy of the Gods, I love the Gods... I espouse their virtues every day, every week, with every prayer I lift... If gaining the ability to help humanity in a better capacity makes me an enemy, I have no understanding of it."
With that, he pushed the woman's hand away "Leave me... You have done more damage to me than if your knife had struck home..." After saying that, he turned back towards the source of the fire saying "But know this..." He adds turning his head back at the girl "I'll be watching... And I'll know what they're going to do before they do." With that, he walks away from her back towards the other man, keeping his eyes towards the future.

Suddenly an inferno exploded from Roy's fist, engulfing his entire arm as he lunged forward at the chieftain of the primitive sea creatures. Using a simple, but effective, technique taught to him early in his self-defense classes, Roy slammed a blazing palm up into the area between the beast's mouth and eyes, where a nose would be on a normal person hoping to finish him in a single devastating blow.
