New Port City University, the home to the best and brightest in the city, which was a very important distinction in a city that was voted one of the most dangerous places to live in the United States!
With crime running rampant throughout the city, rumors of corruption going through every office of authority, and no respite for the people, NPCU is a shining beacon many look to. On its glistening campus is reflected the hopes for the future of the city, and the chance for a brighter tomorrow.
Perhaps more so than the people know... Particularly due to one man in particular. Robert Callahan who, just the night before, had a run-in with fate that would forever change his life! And perhaps the cities too!
The morning seemed to come too early that day, particularly after a long night spent pouring over an experimental compound that promised to revolutionize industrial adhesives resulted in a horrible accident! It took almost the rest of the night just to verify that he was alright, and clean up the mess to the point that noone would ever know anything happened... Either to the formula, or what happened to robert himself.
At his door was the sound of loud knocking, a familiar voice calling out. "Rob! Come on, we're going to be late for the new iMind demonstration!"
Sam, a med student who had classes in the same building, was a close friend. He was a bit of a technophile, always wanting the newest gadgets and toys to fiddle with...
The iMind was an expensive new gizmo that Sam wouldn't shut up about. It was a new cutting edge technology being developed on campus, a complex handheld system that could access and remotely operate machinery via a programmed Artificial Intelligence. It was being touted as universally useable for any type of machinery, and may one day revolutionize how buisnesses and manufacturing organizations do buisness.

Haunted by strange dreams, Robby had slept poorly as he cat-napped immediately after getting the lab more or less in order. Understandable, given the nature of the accident. He felt ok, and his tests showed no immediate problems, but still, he felt...different. Maybe it was psychosomatic. Yeah, that has to be it. Get a good 40 winks and maybe eat something and he'll bounce back in no time...
Pulling at his neck, he is momentarily concerned when he feels like it won't pop back into place for a split second. Also, his skin feels...weird, it must be some more residue. Maybe he needs another shower. Or maybe this is psychosomatic too...
Robby laughs a brief chuckling laugh. "Of course, Sam, wouldn't want to keep your girlfriend waiting." He was teasing. Of course. Tossing off his labcoat and putting on a brown leather jacket, Robby is out the lab door and on his way.
"So," he says, skirting the subject, "Bit of a setback last night. There's a volatility problem I need to sort out or I might have to start again from scratch." He sighs, frustrated. Of course all Robby had to talk about was his work, he didn't have a girlfriend himself, so he was more or less married to it...

"Wow, you okay? You look a bit haggard." He said concernedly, then again such was college life... Late night parties, all night study sessions, working on thesis' and projects. Most students considered it lucky to get even 4 hours of sleep during the week.
"Ouch! Alright wise-guy! You're gonna pay for that one!" He said, punching him in the arm playfully, the punch bouncing back a little, but Sam didn't seem to notice anything too out of the ordinary.
They made their way across campus to the large gymnasium where they had set up for the demonstration, Sam listening as Robby explained his project, trying to be sympathetic and assure him he trusted he could do it. The crowd wasn't too bad, about what was to be expected, not many students showed interest in something like this unless they were in the program, it was mostly individuals from companies, or magazines there covering it, cameras everywhere.
" Thank you everyone for your interest in our iMind project! " The head researcher said as he called attention to everyone around. " Years of research and development has lead to this, our greatest achievement! This compact device -- " He said, exhibiting a large handheld remote with signal antenna on the end " -- is capable of remotely access and operating a vast array of machinery! And thanks to the cutting edge artificial intelligence incorporated into it, it can adapt and perform a wide series of actions with vague instructions! " The demonstration proved to be suprisingly informative. As the iMind was used to operate toy vehicles, remotely uplink with a computer, even a car which contained New Port Citys emergency services technology in it, was turned on, and operated.
However, as the demonstration began to come to a close there was the sound of several small explosions, or gunshots. Suddenly sending the crowd into shock, screaming and panicking to move away from the sounds. It was like being caught in a stampede!
------------
Make a reflex save, or else find yourself victim to a panicked charge of a crowd of people and either trampled, or swept in the crowd of movement! Also feel free to make a notice check.

While Sam gets swept away by the crowd, and probably panicking himself, Rob easily seemed to dodge and weave through the crowds... at times his body seeming to almost 'flow' around them to slip into gaps and openings, staying unperturbed by the crowds movements.
Then, with a sudden glimpse, he caught the sound of the presentator shouting out. A man wearing a ski mask had leapt up onto the stage during the commotion and had grabbed ahold of the iMind before immedietly making his way towards the doors! The security at the event being too distracted by the sudden rush of the crowd and panicked situation to notice what was going on to do a thing.

Somebody had to do something to stop this guy. He could be armed, and likely dangerous, but security seemed occupied, and this industrial saboteur would only cause further trouble for something that seemed so...trivial in the long run. Stepping in his way, he prepares to grapple (Result: 25) with him. "Hey, stop, you!"

[ Sorry for the long wait. ] Robby moved quickly, and suprisingly agilely through the swarming crowd, weaving his way through them and suddenly interposing himself between the thief and the door, his hand snapping out and suddenly grabbing a hold. "HEY! Let go of me!" The man shouted, trying to pull his hand away, even as his free hand reached down and suddenly pulled a gun out of his belt loop. For an instant, everything seemed to slow down as the gun was raised, and leveled right at his chest and he pulled the trigger... The bang was deafening, and a sudden shock, causing screams to illicit again from the crowd... He could feel the bullet hit... The speedy object surely going to pass through a lung, or maybe even his heart. However, instead of either, the bullet pushed in against his body... And suddenly ricocheted back and out, harmlessly away from him... Not so much as a scratch on his body! Still, the sudden shock would cause him to release the saboteur... Who now, panicked as he thought he had shot him dead, turned to dash out of the building and into the main parking lot. ----------- Gain an extra Hero Point here, and you can still chase after him... His gun was only a 3 damage, so Rubber Chickens tougher than many hide easily reflected the gunshot! That's gonna be a shock.

OOC: No problem! ;D
Robby felt his chest. No blood. No nothing. But the gun had clearly shot him and it hadn't missed. He feels his bones rippling like a pool of jello. Maybe, maybe, it's the nerves, or maybe... maybe that accident had larger systemic changes than he imagined. Either way, he had to do something to help, it was his duty. He's quick to give chase, even as he runs he feels his own increased nimbleness and alacrity, more agile than he ever remembers being. He looks at his hand during the rush and can almost feel it stretch and expand. Fascinating...

Outside the building, he can just about make out the man climbing into a car, one of the many cars and trucks inside the large black top parking lot.
Inside the truck, the man ,panicked, looks around and then down at the device in his hand... And grins wickedly, as he begins to fiddle with the controls...
Even as all across the parking lot, all the vehicles suddenly crank and begin to rev up... Almost coming to life as they spew fumes into the air, and the headlights flash on like evil eyes...
Moving on their own, with no drivers behind the wheel, the vehicles begin to move, starting to swerve and get in line with each other... and start to form a circle around Robby, driving in a wide circle in one line, and a larger circle going the other way behind them, alternating... And all with our newly discovered hero trapped in the middle.
Suddenly a large truck revs up, and breaks from its circle to drive headlong towards him! As did another smaller truck, and a car... Three different vehicles coming in! He could survive a bullet shot, but what about a whole speeding vehicle!?

"Well, that's an interesting application..." Robby says, wondering aloud just how this device managed to pull off such a feat. In that moment, he was more reacting than acting, and not consciously at that. But, almost instinctual, he felt his body stretch out and, in an amazing moment, grab for nearby telephone poles, lampposts, and trees, swinging rapidly towards the car. He doesn't even have a moment to register just what he's doing, that will have to wait until after the adrenaline wears off...
============ I'm going to try and use Super Movement (Swinging) 6 to catch up with the car and avoid the cars on the ground. Do I need to roll anything for that?

OOC: No using logic in a super hero game -Flings.. stuff.. at you for questioning how cars are remotely controlled-
And no, I don't think you do. Also, reviewing the rules. It only takes 2 ranks for Super Movement swinging... so considering you also bought Super Movement Slithering.... And assuming you bought it seperate. It only takes 2 points per each rank, and each rank is one movement type. So that's 16 points freed up.
If you want, you can redistribute them after this issue. I intend to request the board, and have the next issue on it.
---------------
There weren't many lightposts in the parking lot, but fortunately one was in easy reaching distance for him to suddenly reach up and grapple, drawing himself up high and out of the range of the vehicles.
Reacting to his movement, the cars shifted position again... Where was the mans cars? With the way the cars and trucks were weaving in and out around each other, the man had apparently concealed himself... It would take active seeking to find the perp.
One thing was obvious though, he had to still be in the area, or else this control probably wouldn't be possible... The same control that suddenly sent a truck crashing into the lightpole, and knocking it over, while creating a huge dent in someones vehicle hood.

OOC: I'm more than willing to accept this, Robby is still a scientist, and he'll just think it in passing, no more questions ;D. Actually, I bought them all as Alternate Power feats, so I think the count is still good! --------------- With this split-second to scan above (and only a flashing recognition of these strange new powers,) Robby looks around, trying to find what car this criminal had hidden himself in, likely one not in any direct danger of the other cars, possibly even one with tinted windows so he can't see inside. So, although he looks to see if any of the cars are occupied, he's more concerned with movement and positioning than anything. ======== Notice check (1d20+8=26) I've been rolling disconcertingly well...

[ OOC: Ah, alright then. XD When ya repost the sheet, might wanna use a bullet list under your elongation, just to make it clearer what is a alternate power, and what is a power in its own right ]
The falling lampost came down with Robbie, sending him landing hard ontop of the hood of the truck.. Causing it to dent in from his impact, but once again what should have been a rather jarring blow, only seemed to distract him for a few moments as his body seemed to take the landing very well.
In those moments of inaction atop the truck, his eyes began to scan around him... Distracted by the moving cars that drove in alternating dirctions infront of and behind one another, and the sound of the loud engines revving...
However, his eyes then caught sight of the car he witnessed earlier with the man inside. Operating the device, a few rows out.
Then, the truck beneath him began to rev, pulling away from the pole and ready to begin driving as well, hoping to shake him off.. Now he knew where the man was, he just needed to get to him!
