www.14wfie.com/Global/story.asp?S=13418404The young woman in the article is the girlfriend of my nephew, Matthew. She was soon to be his fiance', they were planning on asking her Grandfather for permission to marry over the Christmas break. My family is large but very close-knit, and I've met Mandy on several occasions. Those of you who of the praying sort, please keep my nephew and the Ruoff family in your prayers.

It is really hard to lose someone close to us, in any way. I'm really sorry for you, your nephew and the family's loss; please accept my deepest sympathy. I'll pray for you all...

Ouch, I've been heart broken before, but I've never had a girlfriend die while we were dating. Your nephew must be in a whole different kind of grief. Sure I'll pray for you man. I'm not a religous type much, but seven years in a Christian school plus going to chrurch 5 days a week on top of that gets you in the habbit of praying.

Thanks guys. The more we learn about this situation the more of a mess it becomes. It turns out that as the coroner was taking away Mandy's body, the Campus Security Officer had the gall to rip my nephew up and down for calling 911 instead of calling Campus Security (and said some other cold hearted stuff that I don't want to go into).
At any rate, my brother-in-law (a Pastor) is going to perform the funeral on this upcoming Sunday. I won't be going but my parents probably will.

The campus security got mad? Isn’t a security guard profession just for losers who couldn’t make it as real cops? They only carry mace, or some other lame stuff like that. I’ve never seen a campus security guard even carry a gun.
Besides, why would anyone call campus security over a medical emergency. Your nephew should get a decent lawyer and sue his ass. A campus security guard doesn’t do a whole hell of allot because forward phone calls to the people who matter, and maybe drive around a little. That guy sounds like a wannabe, and he should lose his job over that.
A campus security guard isn’t worth a shit with security, let alone a medical emergency.

I'm sorry to hear this...
Also, there was a cop at my school once. He DID carry a gun, and almost used it to because some girl decided to charge up and try to tackle him for some reason. She left school pretty soon.

A campus cop is different from a security gaurd. I don't think shooting a student would have done his career any good though.

I know, but the two look similar (where I am anyway). And when someone's charging at you with a fork (plastic or metal, I don't know) you have less options then you might think.
