...I just miss good ol captain planet.... I don't miss him. I hit him every time I throw my knife at the dartboard where I've got his picture, along with other luminaries of the environmental extremist movement.

That got an out-loud chuckle out of me, and if I allow myself to continue picturing that... wow. Awesome. :-P The only episode of that show I liked, which was a two-parter, was when some alien male version of Gianan (or whatever her name was...) showed up and gave the Planeteers those uber gauntlets in place of their rings... and proceeded to almost wreck the planet with the extra mojo.

Oh, and I guess its kinda just me then, I grew up on that blue queer haha...I don't care for him NOW, but the innerchild in me says: "Let's save the planet!" SHUT UP INNERCHILD I DON'T WANNA!

That's been on bumper stickers for ages. I had one on my first car (about 15 years ago).
I can admit that I used to watch Captain Planet, but my Dad used to roll his eyes about it, and he was right to. That show was pure indoctrination including the fact that the American character was a hotheaded dick who actually betrayed the team in an alternate reality.

Haha yeah I don't remember anything about that show. Somethin about child mental blocks from when I was younger? Idk anymore haha
Either way, im sure a blue man telling kids to save the earth with magic power rings couldn't have been a great show haha...and from what you're sayin WK, that just sounds aweful hahaha...they had a spanish version of captain planet too...was friggin weird!

It's a terrible show, but it has a sort of cheesy charm.
EDIT: Also, fun fact: Turner claims the reason he didn't show actual nuclear scientists/pesticide users/etc was because he didn't want to alienate children whose parents actually worked in those fields by basically telling them "YOUR PARENTS ARE EVIL MONEY-GRUBBING DICKS" so instead he just made a bunch of ridiculous supervillains.

Ah, but what about the tiny Purple Alien trying to do the same thing? Remember Widget?

Don't hate on the Captain. Sorry Brainy, but I can't think of a single nice thing to say about this show. Oh, wait, I can! It had a redheaded character who was actually cool. Ever since Happy Days gingers have been relegated to permanent dork status on television.

It inspires good Halloween costumes.
I honestly hated this show when I was little. I thought it was boring and even my single-digit self could tell that there was way too much bullshit being thrown around.
