I just finished Issue 7 of the new Avengers comic, and can I just say... meh.
The first story arc (issues 1-6) wasn't anything to write home about. In fact it was a pretty typical comic book time travel story. To make matters worse, the Avengers lineup in the book may be one of the worst Avengers lineups ever. The characterizations of Spider-Man and BuckyCap (and I find it hillarious that someone in the comic actually referred to him AS BuckyCap) and Hawkeye are awful, and Thor, formerly one of my favorite Marvel characters, has become a bigger deus ex machina than the much-maligned Superman ever was. His entire role in the majority of the story was to smash stuff while the rest of the team stood around going "oh, wow, lookit Thor go!"
I don't know when comic book writers got it into their head that everybody needs to be funny, but the quipping and shallow back-and-forth gets old VERY quickly.
The art, for the most part, is also terrible.
Minor spoiler below
What was up with them hinting at Bucky's death already? I was very vocal about my opposition to them killing off Steve Rogers as part of a weak story like Civil War, but I've generally been happy with Buck's turn as the new Cap. In his initial appearances, Buck was shown to be intelligent, ruthless, loyal, and cunning. Maybe not all traits I personally want in Captain America, but ones I can respect. In this new Avengers lineup, his role seems to be that of the hot-headed and oft-disrespected rookie.
Even so, I'd like to see the kid stick around for a while. I'm fine with Steve Rogers where he is, and I'm interested to see where they go with that (although seeing Steve Rogers use a gun makes me throw up in my mouth a little, particularly in what they're calling "The Heroic Age"). But here they are, already hinting that Bucky is going to die. Banner even refers to him as a "son of a bitch" and says he gets what he deserves, implying that Bucky will do something to deserve his death.
If I could say one thing to Marvel, it would be this; PLEASE stop pissing all over Captain America. I've adapted to the fact that you've got a Cap who will shoot someone in the knees to get information. I've adapted to the fact that Steve Rogers, after years of being a "no lethal force!" advocate is now wielding a handgun as his primary weapon. But don't, please do not, make the current Captain America into some kind of evil, treacherous bastard. You've soiled the shield enough. If you hate America so much that you cannot conceive of a truly good man wearing the costume, then retire the character.
