Anyone know about this? Took me by surprise -- I hope it doesn't suck! I read the first few books as they were coming out and enjoyed them. Could be awesome...I wonder if George is involved? I know he use to do the old Beauty & the Beast tv series back in the 80's. I actually met the guy once. He was sitting in a waiting area at LAX back in 1987-88 (around there) eating oatmeal with fruit in it; I was with my cousin who knew him and introduced me. Also met Nicholas Meyer, director of The Wrath of Kahn the night before...that was a good trip to LA! Did anyone else ever read George Martin's Wild Cards series? I ran the GURPS version of it a few times back in the 90's...could be a cool setting for MURPG, yah? www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=27620

Generally speaking HBO makes very good shows, and how much I like them is just dependent on how accessible I find their genre.
I loved Deadwood and Rome because the western frontier and Roman history are already interesting to me, so when they're well done I think they're awesome.
I didn't spend much time watching 6 Feet Under or Big Love because I don't find dysfunctional families that interesting.
Game of Thrones is a fantasy setting, I expect to love it.
I haven't read the books though, so what I've said is the sum of my knowledge. I know HBO is a high-quality producer, so if they produce something that I tend to like I will probably like it. It's the same with any product I suppose.

I never had much use for Wild Cards, but I did enjoy Game of Thrones. I don't have HBO, so God only knows when I'll get to see the show, but I'll figure it out.

Have seen the books and even a card game, had no idea a show was being done. Makes me want to try the books out even more.

The table top RPG they put out a few years ago was pretty awesome as well.

No COMCAST monopoly in your neighborhood? Short of getting Satelite, COMCAST was my only option here (third neighborhood in the 313 that I've been so cornered/forced)... they're including HBO as standard now apparently, added to our basic digital cable plan somehow. <shrug> ============ Never read these books, but I *HAVE* heard awesome things about them. I intend to give the show a shot, despite feeling burned by Legend of the Seeker. As said: Deadwood was awesome. ROME looked awesome, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet (I own burns a friend lent me...)

I've got Comcast, but I don't get HBO free here. Weird. <shrug> I'm in St Clair Shores (around 13 mile and 94)... we've had it for almost a year now.

The books were all anthologies, so collections of short stories by random authors based on George Martin's short. I loved the original stories, then grew less and less fond as the universe expanded. The Great And Powerful Turtle was on of my favorite super heroes of all time!
