This is a challenge thread. The challenge is to defeat the last character posted in an "arena" setting with a character that costs equal or preferably fewer stones than the one you have to defeat. So the first character I posted costs 13 stones, so the next poster should post a character who can defeat mine but who also costs either 13 stones or less.
Further info can be found below. The first character to beat is Scooter McShooter, a deformed idiot "cowboy" with a talent for drawing fast and shooting straight. His defense is zero and he has 1 durability.
____________________________________________________ Scooter McShooter (Cost to beat: 13 stones)
Str 1 (1 red) Int 1 (1 red) Agi 4 (2 white) Spd 1 (1 red) Dur 1 (1 white)
Actions:
Ranged Combat 3 (1 white)
Modifiers:
Quick Draw 4 (2 white)
Targeting 3 (6 stones) -Only with firearms (-1 cost level)
Ruger Redhawk +3 -2x damage as a firearm
Scooter acts on Initiative 8 and delivers a 9 stone 2x damage ranged attack from a firearm. ____________________________________________________
Of course we will eventually get so low in stone count that nothing can be built, so if that is the case make the first word of your post REBOOT in all caps and perhaps increased in font size.
After you reboot you're setting the new stone count, so if you want to see 100 stone characters fighting, post REBOOT with a 101 stone character that K.O.s the last character posted, and then await your turn to be K.O.ed.
So each character in this thread should either:
Cost fewer stones than the one above it or Cost the same amount of stones as the one above it or Have "REBOOT" be the first thing in the post
After you win your fight you remain in the arena awaiting the next contender. If you want to throw up defenses that's fine, I didn't bother. Either way all your stone allocations should be clearly explained in your post, because the next contender has to overcome them to K.O. you.
Guidelines:
1. This is just a fun way to see a lot of different attacks/defenses in a simple format. There's no need to take it personally or otherwise very seriously, because each character posted is expected to be K.O.ed
2. Don't waste stones on Reconstitute self or anything similar. The idea is to K.O., get K.O.ed, and work on new concepts.
3. You can bring a build back after it's been K.O.ed, but it has to fit the same criteria as when it was first posted (Must cost equal or fewer stones or have REBOOT at the top of the post) and you should also put RESPAWN in the post so people know the build has been here before.
4. Posts could end up looking like this: Post 1: Someone posts a character that K.O.s Scooter McShooter, and then allocates stones to protect themselves from the next contender. Post 2: Someone posts with REBOOT at the top of their post as well as a character that K.O.s whoever K.O.ed poor Scooter Mcshooter Post 3: I post RESPAWN and bring back Scooter Mcshooter to defeat the character who avenged him in the first place.
5. While I don't expect a lot of rule disputes, if there is I'll act as GM to interpret. The best way to avoid this is to stick to things that people don't argue about any more.
There shouldn't be a lot of disputes though, because everyone can act as GM to run the fight between their character and whoever their character is trying to K.O. So for example I might post:
Squinty McShooter, Scooter's younger brother! (Cost to beat: 8 stones)
Int 1 (1red) Str 1 (1red) Agi 4 (2white) Spd 1 (1red) Dur 1 (1white)
Ranged Combat 3 (1white)
Quick Draw 5 (3white)
Regular Pistol +2
The fight:
Squinty acts before Scooter and shoots him dead (5 stone 2x damage firearm ranged attack). Scooter goes down because he has 1 durability and zero defense, and his actions (Shooting) do not happen because he's dead.
And the next person would probably want to REBOOT because who wants to watch impaired cowboys fight all day long?

Zombie McShooter has one eye, one arm, and looks non-human. . . Wait no lets not go there. A reboot sounds good should we count down from 20 stones next run?
My serious reply would've been someone with a turn or two of invisibilty and a stun gun, but I didn't have the book in front of me to see how cheap I could make that.

Zombie McShooter has one eye, one arm, and looks non-human. . . Wait no lets not go there. A reboot sounds good should we count down from 20 stones next run? You pick the stone count after a reboot. You don't just select a number though, you build a character and their cost is the new number to beat. The point of the reboot is to keep stone counts from getting impossibly low, but it can be done any time if you're just not in a number-crunching mood. Higher-stone characters are much more interesting, but take longer to make. I am also away from my books, but I recall basic costs well enough to build a lot of characters without referencing the books. That's why neither of the McShooter brothers have many advantages or disadvantages, because I wasn't confident I could remember the numbers precisely. Scooter McShooter is still the build to beat! Whatever anyone posts has to K.O. him first.

OOC: Nice characters! I like seeing how others think differently than me. I apologize for the unoriginality, but intend to make more interesting characters once I'm back to my books later today.Totally stealing Raynorn's idea... we WILL go here... Part of my un-originality is humor...
Zombie McShooter, undead reincarnation of a now-unrecognizable member of the McShooter family. Built with 4 stones (I think 2w1r is the absolute minimum, making a robot with one attack action)
Int 1 (1red) Str 1 (1red) Agi 2 (2red) Spd 1 (1red) Dur 1 (1white)
Ranged Combat 3 (1red) -Can't split stones between attack and defense (-2 to cost level)
Modifiers:
Quick Draw 3 (1white)
Equipment: +2 Old Six-Gun +1 Undead Skin (Since this can in fact be removed, it is considered equipment) ____________________________________________________ Actions:
With completely unrealistic quickness, Zombie McShooter draws his old six-gun and *CRACK* opens Mindsunder's head like a melon... is that ironic?

OOC: I was gonna do this with magic because attaching a duration to your attacks is hilarious, but I'm still away from my books and I'm definitely not comfortable trying to use magic rules from memory alone (especially since I never fully understand them in the first place). Bull-it (Cost: 19w2r - Could've gone cheaper but you deserve better ) Int 1 (1 red) Str 1 (1 red) Agi 6 (4 white) Spd 1 (1 red) Dur 3 (1 white) Actions: Blasting 3 (12 stones) -Out of control without Adamantium Helmet, Adamantium Finger Braces, and Neck Brace (-2 to cost level) +Attack vs. Speed (+6 to cost level) Close Combat 1 (1 red) -Agility Bonus Modifiers: Animal Senses 1 (1 red) -He has as much sense as an animal Reflexive Dodge 1 (1 white) -Discount from animal senses Equipment: Adamantium Finger Braces - These fit over Bull-it's index fingers and continue down his forearms offering unparalleled reinforcement to those two fingers. Adamantium Helmet - This is... necessary Neck Brace - See Adamantium Helmet Silicone bodysuit +1 defense ____________________________________________________ (I made the smartest allocations I could imagine for Ginkoman.) Panel 1...Actions : Acting on Initiative 6, Bull-it raises his adamantium-clad index fingers and makes "horns" on top of his head, leans forward to "aim", and rockets forward in 3 stone fireball of absurdity! "Allafarkis!" he yells. Ginkoman staggers under the weight of this obscene madman slamming into him (Takes 4 red stones, losing 2 white) and slugs his foe hard in the jaw! (9 stone attack vs 8 defense, Bull-it takes 1 red stones, losing 1 white) Panel 2..."Ginterbiscuit!" exclaims Bull-it! Right before slamming into his foe again! (3 stone 2x damage attack vs 1 speed. Ginkoman takes another 2 stones) Ginkoman is stunned by the tenacity of his intellectual equal, and returns fire again! (9 stone attack vs. 8 defense, Bull-it takes another 1 white) Panel 3..."Skerpaderp!" is the last thing Ginkoman hears as he loses consciousness...

Or, perhaps the last thing heard before Ginkoman meets his untimely demise should be "shenanigans".
A Durability of 3 costs 3 white stones, sir, the resulting character is almost 2 stones greater then the one you just barely killed.

Failbot (Costs 15 stones)
A.I.: 2 (1r) Str: 2 (1r) Agi: 2 (1r) Spd: 7* (4w) Dur: 4 (1w)
Actions:
Close Combat 1 (9 stones) (Speed Bonus) +Attack vs. Speed +2x Damage
Modifiers:
None, but it has screens on its chest and back that continuously stream videos of people making blunders and such. Think Tosh.0 or Websoup. ____________________________________________________ Actions:
Acting on Initiative 7, Failbot scorches forward leaving a trail of ass-scented smoke. Several hundred punches but only about half a second later, Ginkoman lays beaten on the ground, perhaps glad to be free of the shenanigans of the Arena.

I am away from my books at the moment, but I seem to remember that robots get their abilities at AN-1. Which would make durability 4 cost 3 white stones [(AN -1) x3]. Also, I believe, that using the speed bonus rule for initiative costs an extra WS (speed 7 @ AN-1 +1 WS would equal 5WS) This would make Failbot 18 Stones *if* my calculations are correct. I freely admit, however, that I have been away from the game so am prone to errors, especially without my books. So if I have made such a mistake on the following contestants stone count, consider him a reboot.
"The Shenanigan Eraser" (17 WS +2RS)
A.I. 2 (1red) Str 2 (1red) Agility 7 (4 WS) Spd 2 (1red) Durability 4 (3WS)
Total : 8 WS Actions::
Ranged Combat 8 (2WS) +Weapon or Agi Bonus Robo -1 -Only one Target -1 -Cannot Split Between Att and Def -2
Flight 3 (2RS) Natural +2 Robo -1 Self Only -2
Phase Shift 3 (1WS) Natural +2 Self Only -2
Total 3WS + 2RS
Modifiers ::
Force Field 4 (4WS) Natural +2 -Robo -1 -Bought as Modifier +3 -Defends Against Hacking +1 -Defends Against Magic +1 -Friends do not benefit -2 -Cannot be used for Attack -2
Fast Draw : 3 (1WS)
Rapid Recovery (1WS) Dur-1 for robots
Total: (6WS)
Equipment: Zombie McShooters' Old Pistol +2 (x2 Dmg per Firearms)
_______________________________________________ Actions:: Acting on Initiative 10, "The Shenanigan Eraser" picks up Zombie McShooters Old Pistol and nonchalantly fires a 3 Stone (+2 from pistol) x2 Dmg attack, straight into Failbots chest, turning the cheating robot into a pile of scrap.
Then a little later on Initiative 7, "The Shenanigan Eraser" takes to the air putting 1 stone to lift above the area at 200mph (in 30 sec that could put him 1.6 miles away, though he is content to be simply out of easy jumping distance at half a mile). While placing 2 more stones in defense.
He will regenerate these stones.
For next panel.
Defense vs. Hacking 10 Defense vs. Magic 8 Defense vs. Physical 10 No AP Is flying above the arena, can phase shift. Expect to eat a 10 stone x2 attack at initiative 10, he will then phase shift at initiative 7 for 3 rounds while maintaining flight to observe his opponent and regenerate stones.

What the hell is with me doing Durabilities wrong? Failbot doesn't even need 4 Durability, so I struggle to understand why I gave him that much (He was probably supposed to have only 3 Durability, since that's all the energy he'll ever need). I don't understand why I paid one stone for it either, since that's not half of 3 durability or half of 4 durability. I'm going to blame the fact that I made him right before crashing, as evidenced by the time of the post. As for the other stuff, you have a PM and you can check it once you get back to your books.
I considered Rebooting to build a nice puzzle character, but for now we can duel the robo-gunslingers.
Also, as for flying above the arena, if combatants could leave they would have already. You can get airborne and at a decent height but escaping is out of the question. You must fight, because if you didn't have to you wouldn't have in the first place. I suppose we could make it so there are some fantastic cross-continent chases and battles, but seeing as most combats end in a single panel I think we threw epic out the window.
Sentinel (16 stones)
A.I.: 2 (1 red) Str: 2 (1 red) Agi: 7 (3 white) Spd: 2 (1 red) Dur: 4 (3 stones)
Action:
Ranged Combat 8 (3 stones) -Cannot split stones between attack and defense
Modifiers:
Fast Draw +4 (2 white)
Targeting +4 (3 stones) -Firearms only -I'm also away from my books, I think P.A. and Robots get to buy Targeting at +2 rather than +4
Toughness +1 (1 stones) -No 2x damage -Once again, I'm going off of memory. Pretty sure Robots and P.A. buy Toughness at +1 rather than +3.
Equipment:
Excellent quality Rifle +4 (If you prefer that Rifles can't benefit from Fast Draw, a +3 Nice Pistol will do the job just as well)
Actions:
Acting on Initiative 11, Sentinel acquires its target with lightning speed and sends a burst of 3 bullets to say "hello, I bet you'd like to loot my rifle wouldn't you?" (16 stone 2x damage attack)
The Shenanigan Eraser's Force Field crackles with inadequacy as its neural net makes the too-late calculation that Force Fields don't have an option for negating 2x damage from firearms and projectiles. (10 stones of defense vs. 16 stones of attack. 6 stones get through, doubling to 12)
Three bullets teach the lesson that three cost levels couldn't, and if the bullets didn't destroy the Shenanigan Eraser then the fall back to the arena floor certainly does.
Shenani-can't?
