Remember that trailer from last year? Yeah, it's going to be real now. Get excited; I feel like a web series is the best way to do this.

Meh, I thought that trailer was awful in every way, so color me unenthusiastic.

I really enjoyed it in the same way I like most cover songs. It's cool, to me, to see someone take someone else's creation and change it around completely, while still keeping some of the basic themes and ideas present.

Thought this was about the new Mortal Kombat game.
Meh, I'm only peripherally interested. I'll probably end up passing for theatres.
Might see it when it hits video though.

My problem isn't with the remixing of the elements of Mortal Kombat. My problem is with the specifics. That entire setup was terrible, and casting Scorpion as the hero is an awful decision that parallels similar crappy decisions, like those Star Wars books and comics that try to cast Sith as heroic.

Oh, well I do agree that Scorpion makes a dumb hero, but you don't know which route the directors will actually take it. The article states that the focus will be on Jax, not Scorpion, which I think will be a cool way to go, since he's often brushed aside for the other characters.
Also, Nightmare, it was okayed as a web series and not a theatrical film, so you wouldn't ever have to pay to see it!

Not to change the subject(I'm not really), but does anyone know anything about the new Mortal Kombat game(Mortal Kombat 9)? I've only heard that's it sort of a recap of the first games, with things changing of course.

I thought the preview was interesting, and I agree I see Jaxx as the main character, Scorpion seems to be an means to an end. I don't see any effort to paint Scorp as a hero though. Depends on how they're going to use Sub-Zero though.

I've only heard that's it sort of a recap of the first games, with things changing of course. They've had a couple of things on it about G4. You might want to check the G4TV website to see if you can find info there. Fighters are one of my least favorite genre of games, but I love the MK backstory. My understanding is that in terms of the game itself, they're backstepping a bit, getting rid of the whole "3D" aspect and going back to a more traditional side-view fighter type game. Instead of fighting in 3 dimensions, they're going to stick with what brought MK to the dance in the first place... awesome arenas and cool new fatalities, etc. Story-wise, all I know is that it's a total reboot of the franchise. If they bone Liu Kang out of his starring role in favor of Sub Zero or Scorpion, I'll hate them forever.

To answer Nightmare's question, I seem to recall hearing that Shang Tsung won the tournement in MK:Armageddon, and thus obtain ridiculous levels of cosmic powers. However, just before plunging all the realms into oblivion, Raiden uses his own powers to send a vision of these events as a warning to himself several years earlier. Thus, the new MK game takes place in a variant timeline just after Raiden has has a vision of Shang Tsung taking over. EDIT: Oh, and it won't include my favorite MK character.
