Hey all. I recently picked up the new Wild World Wrestling RPG( 5$ for the PDF). It is d20 based, but is quite a bit different from your typical d20 game.
The system really easy to use and a lot of fun. Basically one player takes on the role of Promoter/General Manager and each player creates however many wrestlers the GM allows (In this case 5 to start with the option to create more if needed and desired.) The GM then assigns a total amount of levels to divide among your wrestlers.
The GM then sets up a card/event based on what he thinks would make for a good show along with input from the players. Matches are handled in a fun, unique way. Each wrestler chooses a move and then rolls a maneuver check. The winner gets to describe the in ring action for that round and gains initiative, meaning his opponent must declare his intended action first.
EX: Jake Deadly was just on the receiving end of a pair of boots to the kisser by his opponent RSVP. Since RSVP has innitiative Jake must declare his action first. He decides to go for a double axe handle smash off the top rope. He rolls a d20+3 for it being an Athletic Maneuver, +5 for his Maneuver training -2 for the maneuver modifier (+6 total). he rolls a 18 for a total of 20 on his action check. RSVP smells victory and decides to set Deadly up for the finish, he attempts his patented "Starstruck" rolling standing splash. He rolls d20 +5 Athletic maneuver+8 Maneuver training -1 Maneuver Modifier and rolls a 8 for a total of 20. RSVP retains initiative and describes the in ring action...
Deadly and RSVP stand in the middle of the ring exchanging blows. Moving into a collar tie up deadly whips RSVP off the ropes and attempts a clotheline, but RSVP ducks under. Bouncing off the far ropes both men attempt to drop kick each other, but only Deadly is able to connect. with RSVP writhing in pain on the mat Deadly signals to the crowd before mounting the top turnbuckle and after posing for a moment launches himself at RSVP for a flying ax handle smash. unfortunately the agile RSVP rolls clear. As deadly tries to recover from the miss RSVP plays to the crowd for a cheap pop, before executing his "Starstruck" signature move. with deadly down and out RSVP covers for the pin hooking a leg for added leverage.
Anyway. I know it isn't MURPG, but I was wondering if it would be possible to play a fed here -assuming there is any interest?

Oh wow!
First, you can always run a non-MURPG game here. There are plenty. I'm running one right now.
Second, I can't speak for anyone else, but if I can get the rules, I'd be interested. It sounds like a lot of (potential) fun!

Sure! Love Professional Wrestling as a rule, but can't watch it as much as I'd like to.

Well, I know money can be tight, but they have the PDF on their website (www.timeoutdiversions.com ) or at drivethrurpgs.com for 5$.
I'm off to work right now, but I'll post more info later.

The game itself is pretty easy to learn and use. The only hard part -unless people pick up a copy of rules would be the Gimmick Enhancements. Here's a general rundown of the system.
There are only 5 stats. Athleticism(ATH), Brawn(BRW), Flair (FLR), Intuition(INT) and Power(POW). Each ranges from -5 to +5, before any adjustments for weight class. You can also increase them beyond +5 as you go up in levels. Starting stats are done by rolling 1d6 - 1d4.
For skill there are only 8 skills. Athletics, Deception, Perception, Performance, Presence, Knowledge, language and Special Talent. Knowledge and Special Talent have sub skills(Knowledge- Technical Maneuvers for example).
Each level you get 2 Gimmick Enhancements. These take the place of Talents/Feats, etc. you can take 1 flaw such as Bump Machine -Once per card/points in this flaw, you take full damage from a successful move with no reductions Your opponent decides when to activate this flaw.
There are no classes to worry about. Technically there is also no Base Attack bonus, but there is a Gimmick enhancement you can take 1/level to gain +1 to hit with all maneuvers. Obviously most people would spend one of their GE's per level every level for this, but you don't have to do so.
Star Power gives the players some control over who to push/depush. Each player has a number of star power points decided on it by the GM. You assign them among your wrestlers. You can even give a wrestler negative star power to gain more points to use on the guys you want to heavily push.
During matches you can spend a star power point to add +1d6 on a roll. You can keep spending star power as many times as you like. If you have negative star power your opponent may spend your star power points to lower your rolls by -1d6 per point spent, until you reach 0 star power.
Moves are very simple and flexible. You decide how many dice to roll and what mods to use. A good example is the famous "chair shot"
Modifiers: 3d8 damage (–6), exertion: 4 Fatigue (+2), illegal: automatic DQ (+2), knockdown (–1), stunning (-2) Total Modifier: -5
Now suppose you're using a manager and want to make sure you will hit. you could drop the damage to 2d8 which would lower the modifier from -6 down to -4. (It's -2 for each die of damage you use.) So the new total maneuver modifier would be -3.
A drop kick would normally look like so.
Modifiers: 1d6 damage (+0), exertion: 2 Fatigue (+1), knockdown (–1), prone self (+1), stunning: self if missed (+1) Total Modifier: +2
But what if you wanted to slingshot off the ropes first? Or what if you think Kane's kick should do more than HBK's? You could simply take a -2 penalty and and +1d6 to the damage.
For each card/show all of your wrestlers may appear in 1 segment(Match, Interview, run in, Backstage assault, etc) per FLR bonus(minimum of 1). Some GE's increase this such as Popular Appeal. It takes a lot of planning and communication between the GM and players, but in the end it is loads of fun. I haven't tried this system PbP yet, but it is similar to the WWE Know Your Role game system which I have seen used to great effect. Anyway that is the general gist of it.Here is one of the pre-made wrestler write ups. All of the pre-made ones are parodies of real life wrestlers.
JONAH CENTRA
Height: 6’2” Weight: 250 Weight Mod: +2 Attitude: Face Level: 15 Star Power: 8
ATH: +1 BRW: +3 FLR: +4 INS: +2 POW: +4
Skills Athletics +7 Deception +4 Perception +5 Performance +10 Presence +10
Gimmick Enhancements Amazing Recuperative Power Attribute Improvement (5) Desperate Save Feat of Endurance Feat of Strength Finisher: ST-FUBAR Leverage: Power Leverage: Submission Maneuver Training (+10) MF: Athletic MF: Brawling MF: Flair MF: Improvised Weapons Monster Comeback (2) Resources (2) Ring Rage Signature Move: Can You See Me Now? Spectacular Entrance Training Background (MF: Power, MF: Technical, Finisher: FUBAR) Flaw Hated
Signature Move “Can You See Me Now?” (fistdrop): Flair maneuver, 2d6 damage (-3), requires prone target (+1), signature move (+2), stunning (-2); 5/card; total modifier = -2
Finishers “FUBAR” (fireman’s carry flipslam): Power maneuver, 3d6 damage (-3), exertion: 2 Fatigue (+1), naming (+1), requires lifting (+1); total modifier: +0
“ST-FUBAR” (step-over toehold facelock): Technical maneuver, 3d6 damage (-3), naming (+1), requires prone target (+1), submission (-1); total modifier: -2
So if you all are still interested I'll start getting things set up.

It has been for me so far. Just like just about every other system it is pretty easy to make nearly unstoppable characters, but if everyone goes into it with the mindset of making a fun and entertaining promotion then that shouldn't be a problem.
I've actually got a promotion all set up already. I just need to convert the wrestlers over to this system. Assuming this gets going I'll just replace certain NPC wrestlers with PC's or expand the roster. The Promotion is called New Era Wrestling (NEW). I stole the majority of it from the sample promotion from another wrestling game system called "Squared Circle".
I'm thinking everyone makes 5 wrestlers- for now. 1 Dark Match worker (level 1), 1 Curtain Jerker (level 2-4), 1 Midcarder (5-8), 1 Cult Favorite (9-10) and 1 Main Eventer (11+). Total levels would be somewhere around 30-35 levels.

I would like to join. Okay the rules aren't completly clear, but a lot of games start out that way. You have no idea how many times I read D&D only to learned that some of the rules I was doing were completly wrong. So if you can tell me when I got some of the some stuff wrong, I will be happy to join.

I wonder if I should move this discussion to the General Online RP area. Probably. sk... that happens to the best of us. I've never played an RPG in my entire life that I didn't get several sessions in and find out that either I'd been doing something wrong, or that there was some aspect of the game I'd missed completely.

No worries SK. Being a new game, I'm sure lot's of rules questions will crop up.
Here is the write up I have for the promotion. The idea is to swap out PC's with the listed wrestlers(I left the list of wrestlers off).
Depending on our preference we could begin at the beginning of the promotion instead right after Sykus takes over. I'm working on a system to rate shows and PPV's in order to simulate taking a small fed form small all the way to the top. What do you think.
New Era Wrestling
Early History: The New Era Wrestling federation came to life in 1998 in the small town of Portsford Illinois, at that time a small local independent wrestling company created by 65 year old wrestling super fan William Telos. William had enjoyed wrestling since as far back as he could remember. In his younger days he had attempted to become a wrestler, but life had other plans for William as he met a girl and chose to settle down rather than walk the path of a wrestling superstar.
His love of wrestling never wavered however, keeping up with the ever changing world of wrestling as he got older and itching to get into it. Now decades later William found himself the owner of thriving local grocery store, it was thanks to the money that his store generated that he was able to fulfill his life-long dream of being in the wrestling business. Although at sixty-five years old, he was far from ready to step into the ring, instead he would enter the business as an owner.
A month later the NEW was born and it held it's first show at the local bar in front of small group of drunken patrons. The show went off successfully, and as more and more shows were held in neighboring towns the NEW began to gain some local fame. It was this fame that caught the attention of John Sykus who was going around the country acquiring independent wrestling companies to merge into an as yet unnamed company. John had recently been fired from the top wrestling company Global Assault Wrestling (GAW) and was looking to get back at his former bosses the only way he knew how...competition. Sykus had been instrumental in the rise of GAW, he had overseen the destruction of all it’s competitors, but now that GAW was on top they had no use for Sykus.
News around the wrestling industry was that Sykus was going to come back at the head of a new promotion, one he would create with the sole purpose of bringing down the massive GAW. The news reports however did not specify how he was going to accomplish this. Sykus new that building a company from scratch would take too long, so he decided on a plan to buy out four small local wrestling promotions which would give him an instant roster of stars that were known in their respective areas. The four he chose were; from Texas...High Stakes Wrestling (THSW), from Colorado...Rocky Mountain Wrestling (RMW), from Toronto, Ontario Canada...Canadian Super Pro Wrestling (CSPW) and of course from Illinois the New Era Wrestling (NEW) which Sykus liked the name so much that he chose it as the name of his new federation.
On September 2nd 2000, the new incarnation of the N.E.W. began with a live one hour broadcast on network TV to huge ratings and critical acclaim from fans and critics. The fight was on...
The Rise of the NEW The following year saw the NEW product get bigger and better with every show that was held. The first Pay-Per View event appropriately named First Strike drew record buy-rates putting the GAW competing September pay per view event in second place for the first time in years. Sykus turned many unknown independent wrestlers into massive international stars, the NEW's flagship television program, Saturday Night Fury began overtaking the GAW's flagship show in the ratings. Each new month brought more and more attention to the NEW's product and it stars, the GAW attempted to break up the fledgling company numerous times by attempting to steal the top talent out from under Sykus. But iron-clad contracts and worker loyalty was too much for the GAW to overcome. Eighty percent of the NEW's roster were independent wrestlers from the companies Sykus had purchased, they had been wrestling in front of crowds of less then 100 for their entire careers, then in came Sykus who pushed them into the international spotlight overnight. They would not betray someone who had given them so much, not even for all the money GAW threw at them.
After the first year of operation it was quite obvious that the days of the GAW dominating the wrestling world were over as the NEW and the GAW where neck and neck fighting for the number one position. By continuing to evolve and introduce new and exciting story lines and wrestlers the NEW were able to completely surpass their longtime rivals and leave them in the dust. After only two years the NEW was the top dog of the wrestling industry. Many who had scoffed at John Sykus' plans for a new Promotion years before, were silenced and ridiculed. The NEW was here and it had every intention of staying around for a long long time to come.
The Split and Slip In early 2004, John Sykus' eagerness to get the NEW up and running and crushing the competition caught up with him. In the early years he had needed massive capital to fund the NEW's quick ascension. Sykus was not a poor man, but his personal fortune was not enough to get the company where he thought it should be and at a pace he wanted. So he allowed outsider investors to get in on the action, by opening up the company the NEW had gained much needed capital, but it had also gained a Board of Directors. Sykus served at the head of the Board so he was able to maintain control of his company in the early years of the promotion.
However it was only a matter of time before Sykus lost the reigns of his company, in 2004 out of the blue the Board of Directors notified Sykus that he was being relieved of his duties as Board Chairman and that his services would no longer be needed. Speculations abound that the GAW had a hand in the ousting of John Sykus but these rumors have never been verified. The fact that the GAW attempted to buy-out the NEW after Sykus’ ousting only added more fuel to the rumors.
Upon the notice, Sykus attempted to get the support of the roster to solidify his position, however when that did not look like it was going to work. Sykus and the roster attempted to walk-out to form another company, the entire roster was behind John Sykus and they were ready to prove it to the Board of Directors and to the world. This would have surely been the end of the NEW had it not been for most of the roster being under iron-clad contracts, contracts that John Sykus himself had negotiated. John Sykus was left with no other choice but to leave the company he had put on the map. As a result the product suffered, the ratings slipped and for awhile it looked like the GAW was going to become the number one company once again.
The battle for control of the company however was far from over, John Sykus was no push-over and through legal wrangling he was able to not only place himself back as the head of the company but also dismissing the entire Board of Directors. After only a year of filing lawsuits against every Board member, John Sykus bought them all out as part of the settlement, it seemed that the Board of Directors had preferred to leave the company with their money instead of fighting Sykus in the courts for the next decade or two. As soon as John was back in control, the company burst ahead of it's competition at full power and returned to the powerhouse wrestling company it had been before the split.
Top of the Food Chain Now in 2008 the NEW is the top dog in the business, undoubtedly the number one wrestling company in the entire world. Global Assault Wrestling (GAW) coming in at second place and the Spinebuster Wrestling (SW) securing third spot. The GAW unhappy with being dethroned has spent countless amounts of money attempting to claw itself back up to the top since the NEW first began to make steam, but thus far it has been to no avail.
The NEW has managed to maintain the top spot with it's roster of massive stars and ever changing and involving shows. With monthly pay-per-view events and two weekly shows; Saturday Night Fury and Extreme Chaos, this juggernaut has no signs of letting up any time soon.
Front Office: The company has a decent size staff of writers, announcers and commentators as well as road agents that work with the roster. Here is a full list of the staff members with a short description.

I'm guessing that the names of some real wrestlers are in there on purpose (Beth Phoenix, Money Inc)?
