... if you think Lex Luthor was a "credible threat" in those movies, we aren't even in the same arena. Once we learn that Superman can reverse time itself, there is no way Lex Luthor (as presented in those movies) can do anything worth Superman breaking a sweat over. Well, that's true. But that was the end of the film, so, he didn't really need to be a credible threat any longer. Then in the sequel, there was Zod to be the credible threat. Now, that doesn't make turning back time good storytelling, but the film still has redeeming strong points.

I actually read that entire article, which is rare for me, and now I'm convinced that Singer just doesn't get it... which puts him in the majority as far as the people making super hero movies these days. It's all well and good to say he wanted to go for the nostalgia factor and follow the Donner films, but even those movies didn't have Superman siring illegitimate children.
I would bet good money that if they took just about any classic Superman story from the comics (from 86 forward anyway), and translated it directly to film, they'd have a monstrously successful movie. Instead, there's a mad insistence on harkening back to a series of movies that didn't do a good job of representing Superman in the first place and which, after the first sequel, were box office kryptonite (pun intended)

Agreed with the above.
I feel like Singer has only just realized one of the many things that went wrong with that movie. He isn't wrong, but he's still missing a looooot of problems.

Now, that doesn't make turning back time good storytelling, but the film still has redeeming strong points. Just because he didn't do it till the end of the film doesn't really suggest, to me at least, that he couldn't do it until the end of the film... Which, in itself, suggests a serious lack of character on the part of Superman as presented in the films. He never reversed time to stop the holocaust or the crusades, because it's bad to mess with time (or something), even to save millions. Or, for that matter, to prevent his own Father's heart attack. BUT... for Lois? To save Lois, he'll reverse time. That's incredibly selfish from where I'm sitting. The exact same kind of selfishness that has him sacrificing his powers to be with Lois in the second film. There are other massive plot problems as well. Superman has kryptonite hung on his neck and is shoved into a pool. He has enough energy to keep himself afloat... but not enough energy to raise his arms and lift a chain with kryptonite on it off of his neck? Or, heck... to flip upside down and let the chain and kryptonite simply fall off? That scene, btw, is, I suspect, your reason for suggesting that Luthor is a credible threat. I guess he is, given that Superman is suddenly struck stupid in that moment, but against any kind of competent foe he would have been SOL. Even Scott Evil knows you don't leave your opponent in an easily escapable death trap and assume he's going to die...

Hearing through the grapevine that Faora has been cast: Antje Traue. Don't know if this is confirmed or not though.
Update: This appears to be confirmed.
