Yes, pvp on the boards. so far i havent seen any really. And was wondering if everyone doesnt agree with it here on the boards. I can understand why they wouldn't, but i'd REALLY like to see it ..i know its hardly fun if you have to post your actions and your opponent can SEE your actions to counter them. (but then you could just PM the GM your actions to take care of that problem.) This is what i was thinking..and i was actually thinking of making a game like this for the future if it worked: When you make a board, you can make sub-boards. (duh) but on these sub-boards, can't you put a password so only the GM could get into it? Well, why not make 4 password safe sub-boards and have each one of your players post and play from the password safe sub-boards. (meaning give them the password to the sub-board) That way the other players can't see eachothers actions and whatknot. Would that even work? i was just curious, please let me know ;D

Yes it could work and yes it's been done. People have PM'd actions so the other player can't see them and I've run games with password protected sub-boards in that same way.

What Pope said. In fact a few issues ago in Body Count we had to switch to PVP mode (PMing actions rather than posting them), because Commando got dominated. While I think PVP is a perfectly viable way of playing the game, I think there have to be a couple conditions. Everyone should know what they're getting into or punches should be pulled. Also if punches aren't gonna be pulled it should be the fairest fight possible. The trouble is without careful regulation MURPG characters aren't built for PVP, they're built to have a few varied solutions to a lot of problems. One character can be the absolute bane of another character without necessarily being more powerful or useful. Most systems that aren't built for PVP can break down quickly if you do PVP with them without considering the failings. In D&D even the characters aren't meant to fight each other, they're meant to complete each other. What you end up with is a game of paper rock scissors where your character is either trumped or trumping someone else. It's hard to have a fair fight in a system without any chance. If you want to do some small-scale PVP though, check out this thread. It's still just paper rock scissors, but since everyone knows that it's just a matter of building your paper, rock, or scissors.

You couldn't have said it any better.
This system was not made for PvP. Unless a GM knows what he is doing... Look at the variation of powers and pricing systems. I mean Powers like blasting are AN+2 and they get 2x damage and 2x free defensive stones. Other actions at +2 may not get an ability bonus... let alone a single free stone.
If the GM is not careful and very selective there will always be victims. And if everyone is not having fun then there is no point in playing.

I do agree with that, but what if you make the stone limit low? At least that way someone wouldnt be able to one shot someone...or maybe they could.. this system doesnt really seem to fit PVP, but still i'd like to see it hey pope, what game did you run so i could maybe get an example of what im lookin for.

Unfortunately Stone Count is irrelevant. I can make an equally game breaking CAD at any level. It really comes down to the players agreeing on what they are going to do... It has to be a group effort to make it work.
I think one way is to take CAD's straight out of the book. Pick two guys who you would like to pit against each other... human torch and iceman for example... But even then I can look at the two CAD's and tell you which character should win every time.
I have been in a few PvP games that worked. Mainly when the GM takes actions in PM and doesn't allow any CADs to be shared. Then he can describe the actions and shave stones here and there to make it a better fight.

PVP in small groups is universally a bad idea. I don't care what system you're talking about. MURPG may be worse than most, though.

I've run a couple that have since disappeared for a variety of reasons. So no help there. Sorry.
