Was just directed towards this show. It's some British super hero type show thing. I'm only about ten minutes into the first episode, but I like it well enough.

It's brilliant, though coarse.
Very very 'realistic' in that these are almost like real people with superpowers rather than becoming big heroes.

Just watched the first episode. And yes it is interesting despite how much I dislike these people.

I think that's part of it? Although the only ones I really dislike are the guy with no powers yet and the girl that turns people on (what a dumb power, right? I can already see that Rogue rip-off subplot building). Everyone else, based on the first episode, at least, seems likable; I'll have to watch more to know for sure, though.

Brainey- each of them has the power they would least want- the power that most weakens them- the guy who goes unnoticed becomes invisible; the chav (who by definition has low self-esteem) can hear thoughts etc

Is that something they explore later on into the series? I've only seen the first episode so far, although I'm not sure how the runner's power is bad except that it allows him to go back in time to change things but not to the degree that he can change the shitty situation he's in. Also, I read spoilers about no-power guy and found out what his power is, although I guess that'll make more sense the more I get into the series as well.

Yeah they do explore it- the hornyness girl has never really wanted a proper relationship- now she really can't. The invisible guy just wants to be noticed- he can't be. The runner made a mistake in his past- but if he goes back and changes this, then he will never have his powers ergo temporal paradox. Oh and wait for the one in episode 3

Am I the only one tired with this whole "superheroes, but realistic"? I know they did some classic superheroes back in 80's and 90's and most of them sucked, but still.

I'm not really into it because it's "realistic superheroes," but because I like the premise and I like that they're creating an original super hero setting. It's something new to watch, so why not?

I don't tire of 'realistic superheroes,' since I haven't seen it tapped all that well yet. Misfits is unique, to me, because the characters are very, very grounded. They are gritty, but it isn't their grittiness that makes them real and human and relatable. I've never seen this kind of miscreancy *not* be abused. They're real people who happen to be juvenile offenders.

I think also because it doesn't really have the feel of a "super hero show." Again, I've only seen the first episode, but it doesn't seem like it's going to go the direction of being a team of anti-heroes against some evil corporation or something along those lines. It'll probably just be them going day-to-day trying to survive and not get caught up in the hole they've dug themselves into.

I watched the first episode, but may not make it to the second, It didn't hook me. I can't shake the feeling it is like a less epic "Heroes".

It's not Heroes because it's not trying to be something it isn't. It's a strong, character-driven drama, where the protagonists happen to have super-powers. The story builds over the two series, and still isn't resolved, yet you know so much, considering there are only 12 episodes and a special.

I was incredibly bummed to find out that this thread was not, in fact, about a really cool band.
