Slowly at first, a cold realization creeps through the heat and touches the heart and soul of the mob. And the mob resolves itself into individuals once more. Husbands, wives, mothers, sons, shopkeepers, schoolteachers, the county clerk, the barber. Individual identity reasserts itself, for the mob has fed on death and is appalled. Lucas Washington, in all his poor sad life has never known emotion such as this. The thing which lies in Ben Grimm's misshapen hands wears the form of his mother. But something is missing. The fires are gone, the hidden fires that only Lucas can see. The rocks and pipes and clubs drop from their hands. Thing's Health: 6/6

The fear and loathing and hatred drops from the people's souls. They feel... good. And as if the memory of what they have done, of why they are here, has slipped away from them, they turn. One by one they begin to amble back to Rock Hollow. Lucas Jackson has touched them with his hidden power. In days to come they will realize this, and realize too, that he has met their hatred with the greatest power a man can summon. Lucas Jackson gave them love. "Dunno for sure sheriff. But a better place than here. Dat's for sure." Thing guessed that maybe Lockjaw had taken Lucas to the Inhumans city but there was no telling where they had actually gone.

With all the strange shapes they have, Lucas Washington won't seem outta place on the moon with the Inhumans. An' he won't be lonely. There ain't no monsters on the moon. Congratulations! The Thing earns 2 LOE and his adventures will continue in "When Titans Clash!" |
