You think that movie was bad??? You should see the older one where he had a see-through shield and a motorcycle helmet... And yes, that is the legendary Reb Brown, star of such other awesome movies as Yor, the Hunter from the Future and Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf!

Ummm... I'm weird, I guess, but that was AWESOME!!! Bad CGI and all!!!
At least the GL movie will have kewl action, despite the goofball dialogue and stilted acting.
And it will have Mark Strong. I'm still looking forward to this.
Captain America... well, I'm sure it'll be great for what it is...

I just read Green Lantern: Rebirth (collected trade version), and I have to say, I'm actually pretty excited about the movie now.
<Sinestro> (As Hal's trainer) "Never challenge one who is more powerful than yourself."
<Hal> "Um... yeah. That's not gonna work for me."
Love it.

Is that the graphic novel of the film?

So, I live across the street from a movie theater now. Literally. Seven minutes to walk into the doors tops. With traffic.
I'll be catching a $5 matinee in the morning.
Do I expect a GREAT movie? Hell no. Do I expect to be entertained? Yep... I'm movie junkie, and always had a thing for the GL's in theory (even if I never read/followed the title beyond crossovers).

Is that the graphic novel of the film? No, Green Lantern: Rebirth was the storyline they put out a while back to bring Hal Jordan back as the "main" Green Lantern (he'd been a bad guy, and then dead, and then The Spectre, for a few years). It's FULL of retcons, but they're retcons that work pretty seamlessly with the established canon, and its a fun story. In Rebirth (and presumably the Hal Jordan stories that have come after), Hal is presented as more of a c0cky, womanizing fighter pilot kind of a guy and less as the "good soldier" he was previously and, for the most part, it works. My favorite revelation of the story; the REAL reason Batman has always hated Hal Jordan is because Hal Jordan is incapable of fear, and without fear, Batman is just a guy. There's a great moment where Hal is about to save the day, but Bruce doesn't trust him. He says "We're not done here, Hal" and Hal just clocks him, square in the jaw, knocks him on his stupid cape-wearing a$$ and says "For now, we are" But Hal's be-all, end-all heroic moment of the story is when the bad guy tells him to just lay down and die and Hal says "I don't know how" Awesome. I squeaked.

I'm going to check out the matinee prices here, too. I usually skip a movie with ratings that low, but for some reason I'm still up for seeing it. Most of the negative reviews seem to say that it's just kinda boring, has too much exposition, and that Reynolds is entertaining, but miscast. I can deal with that, I think.
On the other hand, I'm not exactly in a big hurry. ^__^
EDIT: And that sounds awesome, WK!

I would definitely recommend GL: Rebirth to those with "comic book tolerance." You don't really need to know a lot about the mythos going in (they explain a lot), but you have to be able to hang with comic book nonsense ;D
