Review of GL makes interesting point of how the producers can't figure out who their audience is, nor what kind of movie it should have been. But the best point form the review: DC has never been about wit and supers. It's no accident the best DC film was super serious (Dark Night). That's a pretty dead on assessment. (though I did like the new Superman quite a bit).
Didn't think X-Men FC was all that bad, though the training montage was a bit cheesy. Assuming they want to follow up on the introductions, I think the next one could actually be good. Magneto lifting subs and directing missiles makes him pretty badass, power-wsie. We'll see what they do, though. (The helmet is still stupid-looking, though...always was).

Saw GL. I actually liked it. There were times when the FX weren't really all there, but I think it was a good Green Lantern story and very entertaining.
BUT (spoiler space because I can't complain w/o giving away story stuff)
This was really a Kyle Rayner story with Hal Jordan's background players. Not because this version of Hal had a sense of humor, but because Hal (and all of the other human Lanterns) were chosen because they were "men without fear" Hal was too blase' (or arrogant, depending on who you believe), John too structured and logical, and Guy too angry to be afraid. Kyle was different. Kyle "knew fear" which was why his ring was not stopped by the color yellow. Kyle didn't operate without fear, he operated despite fear. And that's exactly what this movie is all about.

honestiago: X-Men First Class replaced their original training sequence after they saw Inception, because they had a similar dream-sequence spinning gravity in their training.
GL Spoilers... highlight to see...
WK: Yeah, it was Kyle Rayner's motivation on Hal Jordan's backstory... with Ryan Reynolds' personality... but it worked, imho.
I also think I understand why writers are adding these tragedies to these previously unbesmirched characters. It adds a very simple easy to viscerally exploit weakness. I'm afraid of what they'll do to Superman. I suspect he'll be a small child when Krypton blows up or something.
Anyways... I hugely enjoyed the movie, in part due to the low expectations set for me. They made the GL Ring really awesome. They didn't put that relationship between Sinestro and Hal the way I would have liked. It'll be interesting to see how they evolve that in the next film, and who the mid-term villain will be until Sinestro gets 'betrayed' by the Guardians.

It was better than I expected, but I went in with low expectations after seeing the cheesy effects videos posted around the internet. All in all, I enjoyed it.
I half think seeing it in 3D *MIGHT* have helped me like it more than I did... but I have an aversion to wearing goggles to see a movie and refuse to do so!
I think it ranks on par with the current comic movies out this summer so far (XMFC and Thor).

Just came back from seeing GL. My first thought is that if you take GL+Thor, you get 1 good movie. Not saying one movie hit all the spots the other missed, but that's the simplist explaination of my first impretion.

So, another point I decided I sort of liked, was that the GL movie was writted to stand COMPLETELY alone/apart from other DC Universe Heroes/Stories. No mention of other cities (Gotham, Metropolis), indication that Sur was the FIRST alien ever encountered by the US Government (implying Superman isn't active somewhere else in the US at that very moment).
I suppose it could be argued otherwise, but I have a tough time believing Superman would have missed out on an epic battle like that happening anywhere on Earth and then in space.

GL had some flaws but did not disappoint me. I think Ryan Reynolds would have been a better kyle, but still did a good job. The story actually worked well for GL. Guess having the genius Behind the current GL story helps lol. And as Far as GL: Rebirth goes it is excellent. But it is actually part one of three technically four now. The story arc goes like this. 1.Green Lantern: Rebirth
2. Sinestro Corps. War Pts.1&2
3. Blackest Night
4. Brightest Day
All them are crazy awesome and Geoff Johns Is a Genius in my opinon.
