Do you know what company is designing it? It is it just marvel contracted with x company? Margaret Weiss (sp?) Productions, the same people that make all other Cortex games.

Ya, that book came out before the Cortex system was finished. So it uses a incomplete or beta version of the system. I believe the Big Damn Heroes book is a supplement for it that fleshed out and clears up a lot of rules etc. www.amazon.com/Damn-Heroes-Handbook-Serenity-Playing/dp/1931567824The WS website does not list Firelfy anymore, so it is not supported.

Do you know what company is designing it? It is it just marvel contracted with x company? We're Margaret Weis Productions, and we have a license to publish RPG products from Marvel. Our most recent games include Smallville, Leverage, and Supernatural, so we've been doing licensed RPG products for a while now. More info will be posted at www.margaretweis.com as it comes to light. Cheers, Cam

Hiya Cam! (and welcome!) well as you can see this board has been up and running for quite a while now. And that it has quite a few passionate fans as well (and not just of Marvel, but of RPGs as well.) I've heard quite a few positive things of the cortex system, and has been researching it since icv2 posted the announcement ( www.icv2.com/articles/news/20772.html) i have quite a few questions: In addition to the planned "events" books, are there any plans for rosters and one shot original adventures as well? Will the planned Events book, have details such as maps, allow rules for miniatures (hint: heroclix?) as well? Are there any plans for Location Books as well that includes rosters, maps , and mini adventures (ex: Atlantis, Monster Island, Latervia?) Will the Game itself allow for Original Character Generation in addition to being able to role play Marvel licensed characters? and can you make them both random and non random? Is the Cortex Plus system Dice, or resource (diceless) based? In looking at your character sheet: (http://www.margaretweis.com/images/stories/bonus_content/CTX_Primer_CharacterSheet.pdf) will the marvel sheets be designed similiarly, or will there be different attributes listed? How are you planning on handling many of the Marvel power stunts and tactics? ( Hulk's shockwave, Colussus' & Wolverine's fastball special, groundstrike, etc.?) How will battle effects sush as knockback, blinding, deafening, be handled? how does attacking a large crowd work in this system ( ex cap attacking a 6 man sqad of HYDRA agents with a shield attack.) once again, welcome abouard, hope you can come here often, and thanks for reading and answering these. Angel

As awesome as playing an Annihilation campaign might be, I really don’t expect Marvel to support this RPG any more than they did the last one. Or the one before that …which I have NEVER seen in a store and only know about through ads in Wizard.
Also I’m not really sure what the pen and paper RPG market is going to look like now that all the bookstores are going out of business. Are they making an eBook version as well or are they assuming that all comic stores sell games too?

Well , given MWP long standing reputation , i'm hoping they are aware of the changing market, and if comic book stores are aware, they will allow you to special order them for you. i know mine does, thankfully.

Hi all!
There won't be any standalone roster books, as the event books are going to be packed with rosters anyway. Same goes for locations, organizations, all kinds of cool stuff, it's going to be loaded into the event books or their supplements. Our model really is different from what's come before on that level; we want you to be able to pick up Civil War and play it right from the Event Book.
Cortex Plus is dice-based but there's a degree of resource management in the system. Each time we create a Cortex Plus game we build it up from the core to capture the feel and expectations of the license, so Marvel Heroes won't be entirely like any of our other games. I'm sure we can build in some support for miniatures or tokens, but those aren't going to be necessary. That said, huge knock down drag out fights with loads of heroes and villains taking part at once should be possible and sometimes even encouraged.
Cheers, Cam

The Daily Bugle game has been building up to this event for years.

Any chance you'll advertise when you're recruiting for that, or will are you looking for applications?
