I work at Boardgame/RPG store, the only one like that in my city. Basically, its 10 hours per 4 days selling, talking and playing boardgames. You know when you were a kid and always imagined that working in toy store is gonna be the most awesome thing ever? And later turned out it was a pain? Well, not for me ^^

Yeah, that's an awesome job. I almost got a job at a Crimelab. Almost... Except that they never called me back... Anyway, I was thinking about moving to Poland to live like a king, but then I realised that I've just bought an appartment. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

I'm keeping an open mind about the new Marvel game. I love Marvel/DC games (own all in one form or another) with my personal favourite being the MEGs system for DC Heroes (1st 3e plus Blood of heroes). This'll probably be a digital purchase for me because I've just about gotten reasonable at printing/binding my own hardback books.
Heck, I made a better job than Mongoose did with their toilet roil paper (traveller corebook, I'm looking at you!)
Depends on how the system plays - first and foremost a superhero game has to have fast, flowing combat to emulate the comic books, in my opinion. The rest will drop into place.

I have to agree with this statement, it must make as much use of streamlining combat and use of powers as it's attempting to emulate a marvel Comic. Plus i feel that a decent set of original character creation must be applied to it as well.
I hope that we haven't scared MWP off, but it's a daunting task to prodece a licenced Product without alienating the Die hards.
I hope to hear something from them soon.

The best thing to do is see what's gone before, what worked (Marvel Superheroes, TSR) and what didn't (every other Marvel game - Stones, Cards etc). By 'work' I mean what sold - what was successful. They may be well liked by the few fans but without the sales the line will be canned, so here's hoping the basics - smashing, blasting, flying, swinging - get sorted out, then everything else (e.g. Ultimate Spidermans teen angst level : 4 ) is sorted after. For sure, comics aren't all about fighting, and you can get away with turning a comic book out without a single fight for what, two, three issues? After that, the chat kinda gets dull and it turns into a soap opera, which not everyone will enjoy.
I need to check Smallville (MWP other 'supers' game) out I guess, but I was never a fan of the series so I suppose there is already a bias against it.
Like I say, open mind on the new Marvel game. Won't judge it till I've seen it, but no doubt there will be frothing at the mouth cortex fan boys who declare it 'teh greatest game evar!' before they've even put the game on sale. Each to their own. I spend some of my time defending this (MURPG) game on RPG.net and I know it's not the best supers game, but it plays well online. Try telling that to some of the rabid hater/loathers though. Or rather, don't bother - you'd be wasting your time...

Nope, not scared off! Our playtests are going very well. Action and super hero battles are some of the first things I'm trying to get right with Marvel Heroes, and as the feedback comes in we tighten it up and fill in the gaps. So far, so good. It doesn't have anywhere near the same emphasis on relationships as Smallville does, but it won't leave all of that up to roleplay, either.
Cheers, Cam

I know you won't state details, but for the record if there's any Rob Liefield art in the book, I can't buy it. I may want to buy it, but first I'd have to gouge my eyes out with a fork. Then everything will be ok. ![](http://i55.tinypic.com/acamf5.gif) Same character. One was drawn by Alan Davis. The other by the esteemed Mr Liefield, and no, it's not been stretched in photoshop. Saying that, maybe that's what he did to fill the page, thinking no one would notice. So: No Liefield art, of any kind, and we're halfway there (the other half is making a decent game) ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Oh come on, that one is forgivable. Clearly the Enchantress is using some sort of glamour spell to turn herself into a vision of whatever Rob Liefield thinks women look like.
Now Captain America’s man-boobs on the other hand …

Let's not mention strange backward C shaped backs and waists you can get your hand around. Spiky hair is a must, as are pouches, and lots of lines on everything. Face. Body. Even when he does a reasonable job of everything - and doesn't stick pouches on for good luck, or do some odd things with the thighs and the forearms, there's something... 'wrong' with the following picture. I can't put my finger on it... Ben and Johnny join the mile high club. So, at least there won't be any of that strangeness going on in the new Marvel game. I'm tempted to buy it purely to say thank you to MWP.

Don't forget Domino's thighs. And everyone's feet. What feet? You're right, I shouldn't judge. Maybe they were wonderfully drawn... I just couldn't tell because they were always mysteriously out of frame or hidden behind something.

Right, don’t go judging something you’ve never seen. That’s all I’m asking.
Heh, given how many arguments erupt around this place about everyone’s wildly different tastes, it’s nice to know that we can come together as a group and poke fun at Rob Liefield. Granted some of us are just doing penance for making him comic-book-famous when we were stupid kids. I think I probably still have a bunch of X-Force comics somewhere.
