One created mind-twisting abominations of unspeakable horror, and the other is an acclaimed shock-rock musician and horror director!

I have The New Mutant #98 framed because it's my most valuable comic book at $120. Please someone make another of my books more valuable so I can replace it! (My #2 is Uncanny X-Men#121 which os only worth $70.)

Just read up on that. Deadpools first appearance? I'm not keen on the character anyway but knowing Liefield was responsible doesn't surprise me as I've always thought the character had odd legs and no feet. Amazing that a Liefield comic could be worth so much. I'd have thought he would instead devalue every comic he's associated with, seeing as though people have wised up to just how horrible his art is. Clearly he can draw, but even more clearly (to anyone with a brain) is that he draws aliens. No human has the proportions/contortions he comes up with. Back on topic - some of the playtesters for the Marvel Cortex game have said 'It's the best thing ever' or words to that effect. Saying that a) They would do, regardless b) with an NDA signed I don't suppose they can really say anything else without being sued. Still, at least it's something. If it was a pile of cack they'd probably say nothing. Optimism levels therefore remain high. Thus far ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Deadpool was one of those characters that seems one-note (and certainly started out that way) but works pretty well under the right creative team. Unfortunately he hasn’t had that in a few years so people forget it. It probably doesn’t help any that he’s now in nearly as many monthly comics as Wolverine and none of them are currently any good.
As for people “wising up” on Liefield art, individual fans’ taste certainly change over time but the comics as a whole haven’t. He’s currently drawing the new Hawk & Dove series as part of the highly publicized DC reboot so we know someone* still buys his work.
*Given how many 90s X-Men guys and Image founders are part of the Nu52, I assume these "someones" are 12-year-old boys. That'd go a long way toward explaining Red Hood and the Outlaws.

I can't begin to put into words how much I hate Deadpool. His connection to Leifield makes all kinds of sense.
I didn't know that Image guys were working on the New 52... that does explain a lot...

I can't begin to put into words how much I hate Deadpool. His connection to Leifield makes all kinds of sense. Joe Kelly’s run is the reason that most people who like Deadpool like Deadpool in the first place. Christopher Priest’s run was highly underrated. Gail Simone’s run was hilarious (and was actually what made me look into the first two). Fabian Nicieza’s second stint on the character (the Cable & Deadpool series) was great …though that’s partly because he was a completely different character by then and partly because Liefld wasn’t doing interiors (unfortunately he did do a lot of the covers. Plus the series was basically a really fun “buddy movie” in comic form. The last time I enjoyed a Deadpool story was the Jeff Parker “Hulked Out Heroes” tie-in. Everything else I’ve read has been garbage.

Don't know if anyone else has seen, but the Cortex/Marvel game (oh hi - topic, meet thread ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) )is available for pre order on Amazon. The cover looks like a mock up (it'd better be - they won't sell any books looking like that!) and price is £11.42 in real money, $18.22 in funny money. 128 pages, no other details (like when it's out) supplied. Seems reasonably priced. Maybe the PDF will be even cheaper, or there'll be a print+pdf deal? Optimism levels remain high, especially after the no-Liefield connection was semi-confirmed.
